Veronica Mars (2004–2019)

Deserves to be cancelled
24 June 2008
Rarely have I seen such drivel on the air! The writing is abysmal, the characters and situations bear absolutely no likeness to real people and real situations. Which wouldn't be bad, except you can tell that the writers and directors mean for this piece of drivel to be taken seriously and to appeal to a young audience because of its "daring" and "realism".

It's too bad for the lead actress who seems to be quite talented. If she is lucky, Veronica Mars will be cancelled quickly and she can move on to other, better projects.

UPDATE: Veronica Mars was finally cancelled after three low-rated seasons and being part of the dismal team of shows that dragged UPN to its grave. Kristen Bell has moved on to a number of other dreadful projects, not that there's much choice these days.

Sounded Interesting but unfortunately looks like a sitcom
3 February 2006
Jason O'Mara and Kyle McLachlan are two good actors and the premise sounds interesting. Unfortunately, the show looks like a sitcom.

Was it shot on video? It sure looked like it.

In any case, that and the sitcom-style 5-second main title and what I read on this site which made it sound like the music was a pretext for the promotion of young artists and they lost me quickly.

It looks like it's doing badly in the ratings, which is not surprising.

It won't be a big loss and hopefully everyone will forget that McLachlan and O'Mara were even involved in it and they will get bigger and better opportunities elsewhere.

The Real Skinny: A Boring, Unrealistic Film
4 September 2005
Truffaut is supposed to be some sort of genius director, therefore it follows that every film he made was a little masterpiece, right? Wrong!! Pocket Money is a really bad film. It fails in almost every respect.

It pretends to be realistic, but there is nothing real in the children as portrayed in the film. Rather, Truffaut was kowtowing to his critic friends by showing them what they wanted to see rather than make an honest movie.

The acting was also really bad, which people tend to gloss over because these are child actors and children for the most part can't act. But still, it's painful to watch their stilted deliveries. Then again, Truffaut was never one to see the difference between good and bad acting as evidenced by his reliance on Jean-Pierre Leaud, France's answer to Freddy Prinze Jr.! But the worst is the the movie fails to entertain. It is a boring chose to watch it. If you want a good Truffaut movie, Watch Farenheit or Day for Night.

Looks and sounds like a Home Video
30 January 2005
IS Fox so broke that all they can put on the air are aggressively idiotic reality shows and poorly made dramas?

With Point Pleasant, they have reached a new low in production values.

The show looks like it was shot by the nephew of the Executive Producer and sounds like it was edited for home movie use.

They didn't even bother to add good sounding footsteps to the sound tracks!!!!

If they care so little about their product, why should I bother to watch any further.

In one word: abysmal!
