Westworld (2016)
Season 2 a real disappointment
Season 1 was OK but nothing special given the stellar cast and budget.
Season 2 on the other hand is cringeworthy. There are far too many flashbacks and too many storylines running parallel to one another but rarely connecting. It makes it a very disjointed and unsatisfying watch.
I know we're supposed to suspend belief when we're watching this kind of stuff but the idea of engineers developing consciousness in robots who are merely cannon fodder for man's sadistic whims just doesn't make sense.
And the security personnel who descend on the park to subdue the uprising are reminiscent of the keystone cops. Why hide behind something when you can stand in plain view and let Delores and co pick you off.
Many scenes are too ridiculous to mention but a good example is in episode 8 where a Native American walks into a scene where Anthony Hopkins is scalping a host whilst wearing his shirt and waistcoat. Why on earth is he doing this and why isn't he wearing protective clothing?
None of it really matters because it's impossible to care about any of the characters who, host or human, are all equally psychopathic and unlikeable.

really bad
I've been compelled to watch a few of these historical series about royal houses because my wife likes them. Versailles was OK but this is very poorly executed. The costumes are good and the backdrops pretty but these are the only redeeming features as the script is poorly put together and much of the acting as wooden as I've seen for quite some time. You are left with an impression that the Russian state has heavily influenced the production. For instance Peter III is portrayed as an incompetent and immature fantasist when in reality he tried to implement some rather enlightened reforms. I'm frankly amazed its rated 8.2 on IMDb.
