Too many racists providing reviews about this documentary
I am white. I am in a Clevelander. I am a criminal defense attorney. I see the injustice every day in Cleveland courts. All the negative reviews about this documentary are by scared white people. We live in a state of fear that has justified police brutality. The documentary is not meandering, it is simply chronological. Black people in Cleveland rarely get justice. We need more justice for people of color, and we need more documentaries like this that tell the true story.
The 13th Step (2016)
Isolated incidents condemning a program that saved millions
This is propaganda from a few families and a director who just needed a hot subject. Nothing about the film is representative of any meeting I have ever attended. I have 30 years clean and sober. AA saved my life.Gullible people can get duped, attacked, raped etc, in any environment they put themselves in. It isn't AA's fault. These are all isolated incidents condemning a program that saved millions of people. It's about building relationships and learning how to make friends. It isn't about dating. If that is why these people went there, then bad on them. AA is a microcosm of real life. There will be weirdos there. There will be weirdos at the supermarket, in your high school and college classes, at work etc. Just don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Let's interview everyone who was raped. What percentage would be from AA meetings? Probably less than 1%. Maybe we should close bars. Many more rape scenarios begin in a barroom than an AA room! This film is a load of crap.
Juno (2007)
Laughing through the tears
I had no idea what this movie was about when I got an advance screening pass. That being said, as soon as the movie started I was smiling. Then laughing uncontrollably. Then freaked, geeked and queered out about parts. All in all, it was a good snap shot of middle class Minnesota and it's adaptation to the new world order. Strange as some parts were, they probably happen more than we think. Go see it as soon as you can and then go back again to catch the sarcasm you missed. It is a refreshing take on the sexual nature of society and the contradictory prudishness of America.
