Ally McBeal: Nine One One (2001)
Didn't meet the parents?
I have a little problem believing Ally represented an 18-year old in court and went to his prom, yet had no idea who his parents were. While the show is principally slap stick humour you still would like to see writers fill in the gaps properly.
Season 5 feels disjointed and it struggles to reach the standards of the previous years. It looks like they are trying to replace Ally with Jenny which, despite my respect for the actress, is simply a mistake. You cannot replace the namesake of the show that way. If you are trying to watch all episodes then finish the series, but for me it was like forcing myself to do it.
The Closer: Junk in the Trunk (2009)
Details. No one is flying from USA to Antwerp
I love the show, but living in Belgium I couldn't help being distracted by this episode hanging on flights to Antwerp. While Antwerp has an airport, it is not one that would have flights to or from the USA and is mainly for small aircraft and a few charters. Antwerp is the diamond capital, but they would be flying via Brussels-Zaventem.
The organised chaos that follows this show is intoxicating. I suppose the show is best called a dramedy as the situations are too bizarre to realistically happen. G. W. Bailey is brilliant and what makes it work is how he respects her from early on, despite his age. I really wonder if there are detectives like her out there.
