Bob's Burgers: Mutiny on the Windbreaker (2012)
Not much family support on this episode
FYI- I love this show. For the first six seasons my Granddaughter and I bonded and shared life lessons while she grew from age five to 11. This episode left us little to discuss because little to know family support can be used as a mechanism to inspire the lovingly inspired comedy that this show is known for.
Bob is invited to be a guest chef for dinner on a recently docked cruise ship, with the Belchers in tow. Linda is given a Gold Card for charges the famile may incur during this short time. Bob is sent to start his prep cook but soon learns that things are not what they appear to be. I found it odd that once the Belchers were told of the true situation they were all in, they didn't seem to care- even though Bob needed their help. Everyone was out for themselves, and the second act of this show was Bob's family indulging themselves and having their needs met. Bob finds that some of the food to be served is rotten and only then he is able to enlist Louise to help him. She does OK but Bob needs more help than she can supply. If this were any other episode he would have had Louise round up the whole family for help. I'm trying not to list any spoilers, so it's difficult for me to show how much each family member should have been concerned regarding their circumstances and sought help from each other-mainly Bob. Bob was finally able to enlist the aide of some crew members and prevail. Gene had his first near-love experience, so we had a moral to discuss after all.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
Lazy Writing
I decided to wait until there was just one episode to go before I trashed this horrible series from Marvel. To sum it all up I will just say to the people that made this show-why bother??
Over half the initial episodes simply answered the question-can She-Hulk legally use the name She-Hulk. What? This is the most irresponsible waste of money from Marvel, where a certain level of quality is expected. Breaking the fourth wall falls flat and is used with a nod and wink the say-look how cute we are! The acting shows that the staff knows this is trash so why bother? Even the transformation into She-Hulk is lackluster most of the time. Plot lines are boring, and the inclusion of Daredevil in episode 9 is done without any flair or real effort. As Deadpool would say-lazy writing.
Hacks: The Click (2022)
Two Kikis
Great episode as always. Just made the connection that in addition to having a character named Kiki, the song that plays at the end "I got the music in me" was first recorded by the Kiki Dee band and written by her keyboard player. This show has a lot of heart and I adore everything about it.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)
Shocking ending
I have always loved this Christmas special. I'm 64 years old and have watched it every year. This year I used my DVR to record it for my granddaughter. I recorded it two separate nights on Freeform. It was so full of commercials, that the song "Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer" was cut! Rudolph and Santa make it to the island of misfit toys and fly away to the tune "Its a holly jolly Christmas". The title song is never sung at the end. I can't think of a better metaphor to show how commercial this holiday has become. Its 2021 and I love this holiday. I recorded two airings and had the same response. Shameful.
The Simpsons: Apocalypse Cow (2008)
There is always a nod to something
My favorite part is the nod to Casablanca at the end. Almost every episode does this so all age groups get something! If you didn't catch the Casablanca reference, just ask your parents or google "end of Casablanca"
The Simpsons: Papa Don't Leech (2008)
The intro
The intro you all didn't like was a perfect spoof of one of most famous scenes from the Sopranos. Tony kills his nephew in the same exact manner- frame for frame- following an accident.
