Resident Alien: Girls' Night (2022)
"This one's like a pet rabbit you yell at so much..."
The seeds for this episode were planted throughout season 1. I'm not surprised people are disappointed. I too am disappointed, I really wanted Harry to complete his mission. Character development and social commentary are good things. We are happy to laugh at how anxious and defeated women are, but so unnerved when they take action. This could've been a cheesy, freaky friday, bodyswap cringfest. Instead they addressed established issues, made us laugh, and had a quick, comical swap at the end. Season 2 isn't as immediate, but it's showing us what makes Harry so human. Maybe that's a good thing.
Slasher: An Eye for an Eye (2016)
Strongest episode of the season, all downhill from here
This episode is pretty good. It makes you want to watch more. It's like buying an album because you loved a single. But once you get past that first f amilar track, it's all filler. This is the only episode in the season with any bite. You might watch on, hoping it gets better. The closest it comes is when it repeats the entire opening scene later on. The last episode is the weakest. The reveal is lackluster. Throughout the series it's really hard to connect with the characters. The actors seem too polite to pull off the darker tone of the genre. When they try to be bold, it falls flat. It made me laugh more often than it made me jump. This first episode shows promise. But I felt more punished than rewarded for sticking around for the end.
