Family Theatre: I Beheld His Glory (1953)
TV Jesus
All those who know this film, as also "Day of triumph" can see that is a spin-off from the "Living Christ series". The story speaks about a roman centurion named Cornelius who is maybe one of the rare gentiles who believed in Jesus. In this film we can see that the disciple Thomas is the first one of the 11 disciples who preaches about Christ and his coming out of the tomb. After Jesus is doubting Thomas, he meets we Cornelius on the stairs of the Upper room, but Cornelius doesn't know that this is The Son of God.When Jesus is asked about the taxes to the emperor, in front of him are Thomas and John, the beloved disciple (I beheld his glory). In "Living Christ series" we can also see these two disciples, but in the series they are played by different actors.
King of Kings (1961)
King of kings
The 1961 presentation of the old silent classic King of kings was a great deal.In the sixties we got a lot of good Jesus films, likewise this one and also a-side film "Barabbas", "Greatest story ever told" or "Vangelo seccondo Matteo". The film opens with a short shot of the history of the Jews, during the coming of the Romans in the teri- tory when Christ shell be born. When the Magi are visiting Christ, they are not entering in house (as Matthew 2:11) but they are entering in stable, where previously Christ was born.Important character is Lucius, who is closer friend with Pilate and on the crusifixion scene he's saying "Truly ... he was the Christ".If we look into the synoptics, we can see that there is no Lucius there, but a centurion. No matter this, because is a screenplay transformation.Interesting detail is the removed scene Christ before Caiaphas (with Peter's denial) and the very short scene about Christ and the women on the way to Calvary (Luke 23 : 27 - 31) added only detail of Luke 23 : 28.
