Tombstone (1993)
Best Western film of all time.
My Dad and I, us being from Arizona as well as our affinity for all things Arizona, adore this movie heart and soul. We have probably watched it well over a hundred times if not plenty more. My Dad being a native too has hunted and explored all of Arizona. I go with him sometimes as his daughter. We have every line memorized and qoute them all the time. Every character is gold. The music is beautiful. The story compelling and feel each moment. Wyatt and his enthusiasm for a new start in Tombstone and twinkle in his eye for this and his brothers with their wives and their future ahead. Doc and his quirky audacity to fight and humor his enemies. Morgan and his innocent joy for the stars. Virg and his stiff cowboy grumblings and smiles. All of it. Even Ringos insatiable intelligent hatred. The noble immortals and their destiny of justice, awe, talent for guns, and miracles. Happiest of all sweet actresses enduring love despite the declines.
Barbie (2023)
Cute, weird, funny, and emotional.
I feel like a lot of people must be mad Barbie wasn't the vapid silly movie they wanted it to be. No Barbie tackles all the true reasons Barbie is difficult in the real world and fake world. She leaves no controversy untouched neither does Ken. She sheds real tears and understands real pain for the first instances in her life. She realizes why being beautiful isnt that important. She realizes emptiness and concern for others and the truth about life. Life is hard but its beautiful. Beauty doesnt last in a barbie sense and its still beautiful. She gets a chance to take the blue pill doesnt want to and the wacky barbie we all ruined cut her hair and burned tells her comically no you have to want this! As the hilarious barbie shaman. If you were expecting an easy kid movie you will be dissapointed although kids will still love the comedy and goofiness and neat visuals of barbieland. But the meaning is adult and honest. Ken is equally as important and hilarious as Barbie as a whipped ken who barbie doesnt care for obsessed with barbie and being a man whatever that means and loves the real world where men finally rule and women suffer. Truthfully I may havr shed a tear with Barbie. Our child selves grow to understand the truth and barbieland becomes a far away memory. But you know what? Barbie chooses the real world again and again because its still beautiful.
Dune (2021)
Magical.
Funny story my friend and I were flipping through movies. One was bad after another after another and we stopped them quickly with lots of critical comments about them until we played Dune. We became completely quiet and rather fascinated and focused on the film with a wow expression on our faces. Dune is beautiful. Timothee our Messiah is truly spiritual and mystical as our main character. His mother also is an intense and yet brave woman who believes in the impossible and fights equally as well as her son. Though they both deal with fear (the mindkiller) they both rise to the occasion when everything literally their entire world comes crashing down and they come crashing down in a space craft. The setting is realistic in a scifi sense. Everything feels otherwordly strange beautiful bizzare and holy. The music is gorgeous. Nothing is cheesy like many "action" movies are. This movie has an eloquence to it. Its not average or mind numbing like the usual movie can be. Timothee breaks onto screen as a new actor and establishes his inner beauty and uniqueness and prowress as a noble boy becoming a man with quite possibly one of the most important stories in the universe. The actors are all amazing. Jasom Mamoa even appears in a totally different way and takes a risk. Zendaya is believable and appears truly native to a oppressed planet. The Harkonnens are weird in a awewome way and give the illusion of being aliens from another world with their cold pale skin bald heads and cold hearts and weird goo they bathe in. The leader is truly disgusting and odd as he floats to the cieling like a ghostly dictator. Its womderful and I cant wait to see the next one. Even the voice that rises from the spice like a creepy haunting spirit guide is enchanting and unmerving, is it a good voice leading our messiah or is it evil as it leads Timothee to kill to be a man. We dont know. But we really cant wait to. The undertaking of being like Jesus a messiah is almost impossible, but Timothee gives it a very strong and believable attempt.
Noah (2014)
It still does God justice.
Maybe I'm biased because I do love the bible. It was really thrilling for me and it did take me to a world that was alien in a sense that it was quite a long time ago. Nothing in Noah feels familiar. Things are odd such as Methusalah Enochs son and grandfather of Noah. Played by Anthony Hopkins in a stellar way. He comes off totally ancient and powerful and strange as a well over 500 yrs man would be. 900 yr old man Methusalah is played well. Hes poetic and he loves berries until his final moment and has the power to give a girl pregnancy. I mean if you were so old might God also give you strange abilities? He's wise and ready to die. I also liked the vegan take on Noahs family I found that rather interesting and the evil people are gross about meat and disrespect animals and life where as Noah doesnt even want to hurt one flower. Theres a scene that really broke me where a girl is trampled and left behind which leads to Noahs son hating him. Its a believable scenario because God says to leave them all to die of the flood and Noah couldnt save her anyway. For all we know maybe she was decietful. Still its a heart wrenching scene and her character gave a frightening take of what hell would be like on earth had the evil seed of Cain been able to produce on earth with abandon and not been taken out by God. Correction Im not a bible expert but Im finishing it now. Its a scary community she is a part of with people raping, murdering, eating one another, abusing one another, making scared girls hide in pits with dead bodies until Noahs son finds her and wants to love and bring her aboard the ship. The idea is powerful and sad. Were some people a by product of despair and agony they didnt want to be a part of but still swept into the flood by God? Or were they all evil to the core? I like the way the fear of God is put in you after watching it. As it should be. I think that its a fascinating take on the bible. Maybe its not perfect but it still glorifies Gods power. Noah is also a complex man with a lot of inner turmoil. Whether to be loyal to his family or to God. Either way he cant fully win and he chooses God. I liked Russels Noah and I think the casting was great. The issues are minor for me. The boat and the animals coming to it was a bit stale digitally and visually. The flood was not neither was the battle. I found the leader of Cain's seed to be especially ugly awful nasty and selfish vile and violent just as he needed to be and his acting was great. NOAH is a huge under taking. I think they did the best they could have even though I wish that girl had survived in the end.
Tabatha's Salon Takeover (2008)
Tabatha is a badass
So I really like this show. I really love Tabitha and I think she's wise and beautiful and savvy and strong. I think she gives great constructive criticism and I think her personality is very appealing to watch because she's strong willed, smart, straightforward, and she DOES whip places into shape and is spot on in what the salons issues are. I like to watch her come in and speak truth without fear but also do so surprisingly in a kind way and fair way too. For S2 E6 Brownes and Co Miami, Fla I would haved loved to have seen Tabitha go harder and STRONGER on that owner. Because the owner was truly a monster. I was shocked to see Tabitha more calm and easier with her advice because if anyone needed it that one did. Maybe she figured the woman was making her own karma.
Sell This House (2003)
Really great transformations and funny crew!
I love this show. I don't know why it's has a C rating it deserves an A plus. The transformations of the houses are always fun and new and much better! I love the creativity and the resourcefulness of the new designs for the houses. The show shows that some simple redecorating and easy fixes and some new rethinking of how furniture is displayed can completely freshen up a place. They do amazing on this show and Roger is very talented. The rest of the crew is fun and talented too. I love this show and I truly think that each home they help sell looks amazing! One of my favorite shows. Great work! It's so satisfying to see people's home come alive with a new vision and some I expensive changes. It doesn't have to be expensive to live beautiful.
