Airline (2004)
Strange and Strange
First off, this is a train wreck in the world of Customer Service. The show is yet another BBC show that has made it across the pond. I have watched enough of it to know, that I will never fly Southwestern. During my younger years as a Customer Service jockey, I would have been fired or placed on suspension if I acted the way most of the Supervisors/Managers do on the show.
All in all the show points out just how stupid things are at the airport. What cracks me up the most is the fact that they actually have bars on the concourse, which gives the opportunity for an idiot to get drunk. The logic is like a gift shop that sells guns at the local prison. Sadly, there is always an idiot that will buy one.
So in a nutshell, drunks and rude CSRs make for funny show. If you enjoy bad service, and weird people in their 5 seconds of fame, then I would say watch it.
However, if you like the idea of the show. I would suggest watch the BBC version, which offers more of a story of the people who work there, and what actually happens there.
In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (2007)
I am still laughing
This movie is one of the prime reasons I won't spend my $10.00 at the theater anymore. My curiosity about the film was based around the fact that I liked the first version of the Microsoft game. Now, I knew what I was getting into before I selected it for my Netflix queue, but come on. Does anyone know how to make a decent fantasy movie? LOTR was great, it had drama, suspense, and a thrill here and there; however it took YEARS to make and it shows the hard work. This movie was like how to edit in the worst possible way, how to completely make something that isn't worth being laid in a cat box.
It is almost as bad as the rash of "DVD-Camera" movies I have been seeing lately. Do studios have a QC Department or is it about have fast can you drop dribble at your local AMC Theater? This movie reminds me of Street Fighter, Bloodrayne, Mortal Kombat 2, and the Mario Brothers movie. All of them need to be removed from history, and Pfizer needs to come up with a new drug to help erase the horror from one's mind
Bionic Woman (2007)
Just walk away
BAD BAD BAD and BAD. Here is why; 1st on comparing this to the original. It is like watching your best friend die. The kept the name, and combined SMDM's parts in.
However, they removed the spark that made the show. The softness and the innocents that made Jamie. Now we have a 24 y/o bartender, who rather show more interest in the BF then in the fact she has a sister who is 15 (who looks 30) and seems to be having trouble.
Now given the fact that this is the first show. And trust me they speed it up. One minute dinner next minute she is screaming about the legs.
It doesn't tell us anything about her, we have to hear it second hand.
So we went from a show that was fun to watch and had action to a show that is about DRAMA, which matches Lost, Heroes, and Battlestar. The bionic parts are just extra.
Now the show is set darkly, and I was waiting for a Viper to appear, because the direction of the show is TOO MUCH like Battlestar.
2nd the special effects.
I am sorry, the effects are SO 5th rate, that a 7 year old could have done it with Photoshop. You can see in the preview that the legs are not proportionate to the body. However, I couldn't stop laughing when she ran. She looks like a puppet on strings. There was nothing remotely normal in the look. Again, CGI is good when used in small dosages. You can learn a lot from the failure of Lucas's movies to see that. When you remove an actor completely, and think you have a software program that can do better, well you're wrong.
The only spoiler I will mention is not really a spoiler, more of segment concept that you can get from one of the previews.
When she is running along side the car, I dare you not to laugh.
(To the FX guy, try having the actor run at top speed at the location, then increase the speed of play back but to give the illusion of speed. Because you made the actor look like she was the road runner.) So in closing, I have to say that they killed the Bionic Women. I am sorry to see her go. However, this is what happens when you change too much of establish lore. You need to think before you decide to make a female hero in culture a soap opera. It is not a good idea.
Bad NBC!
