Mannix: Picture of a Shadow (1974)
An average episode, with the movie Laura blending through.
This episode, which first of all, I thought was decently average does have similarities to the movie Laura, starring Dana Andrews.
Now a couple of years ago, I covered a similar story for Laura in one of my books, I keep for myself to read and I have actually watched the actual movie itself and the plot and story really seem as if the writers in this episode sort of copied it, but just did it in their style
Anyway, this episode begins with a murder already transpiring and an old friend named Ray Jordan phoning Mannix to come join him on his boat, so at Jordan's request, Mannix does and while on his boat, Jordan mentions that he knows who the killer is and is willing to pay Mannix, but before they get to business, the same killer makes his way while driving his boat and shoots Jordan and ends up sailing off before Mannix can get a good look at him!
Anyway, the rest is for you to see and watch and judge for yourself on whether this episode is good or not, I think this episode is okay, average, not all that bad!
Mannix: A Small Favor for an Old Friend (1974)
Perhaps, One of the Best Korean Stories in the show.
This episode is in all honesty, spot on! There are no plot holes, everything is put well together and this whole story seems fresh and brand new, no story cliches, so let's begin!
After spending three weeks enjoying a much needed, deserved, fishing trip in the Sierras, Mannix returns to L. A to learn that war buddy Harry Endicott died in a plane crash and before Harry supposedly died, he mailed Mannix a letter.
So, from there, Mannix heads to San Francisco and he comes to find out that everyone knows him! And he's been a resident there for sometime and has an apartment in his name and everything! What is going on! So much for identity theft.
From there, a mystery transpires and people are after him! So, yeah 👍, you'll have to watch this one for yourself! Quite an episode! 😎
Mannix: The Empty Tower (1975)
MY FAVORITE MANNIX EPISODE!!!!
This episode! Yes! You heard me right is my FAVORITE MANNIX EPISODE of all time!
This episode is just perfect! Right up my level! Action is spot on! The music score is perfect and just.... Everything is perfect!!!!!
So, let's begin! The episode begins with a man, bent on revenge breaks into Mannix's place with a gun, ready to end him, but Mannix, who's a professional just ain't going to let that happen!
Anyways, after all that, Mannix goes to the bar where he bumps into friend and a wheeler dealer, Tony Elliott, and the two plan themselves a fishing trip for the following day and when that day arrives, the two head out and while, en route, Tony claims he forgot his fishing flies, so the two head to Tony's place of business and unknowingly, they walk in on a heist that is beginning to unfold and yeah!
You'll have to see this for yourself!!!! I'm telling you! You won't regret it!!!!! Your in for a treat, this one will keep you on the edge of your seat!!!!!
Mannix: A Ransom for Yesterday (1975)
Perfect from Start to Finish!
This episode, which is considered the 'BEST' episode of Mannix, which I can see why, now that I've seen it! So, let's get to it!
A couple who have been separated reunite when the woman (Diana Hyland) receives a ransom note from her son's kidnappers, demanding $250,000 in cash! Now, this is the second time, in six years, since this happened last so you know that right there that's intriguing enough!
Now, do I believe that this is the best episode of the series? Well, on the average case level, yes I would say so! Now, is this my favorite! Yes, but not my biggest favorite! But this is still a really significant episode and it certainly shows that this beloved series was still going strong at the end!
So, I would recommend anyone to watch, you won't regret it, it is nearly flawless!
Mannix: Edge of the Web (1975)
A different type of Mannix
This episode was different. This isn't your usual outing with a lot of fist fights, car chases and knockouts, but rather all about a whodunit. A black college student is accused of killing his professor, who denied him a degree and the big question is, did the angry student kill him?
Mannix isn't convinced so he begins to dig and many different people are persons of interest. But there's only one who could have killed him, so who was it?
Many people believe this episode is like an episode of Columbo, which I can see, but not much, considering that Mannix is himself pretty much.
This episode is pretty good, the only complaint I have is the fight scene at the end, I didn't really care for it much, it could've been better, but it is what it is. Anyway, watch this episode and see what you think, there are mixed opinions about it, but I gave mine so yeah 👍 🙂
Mannix: Portrait in Blues (1974)
A 'very' different way to kick off another season!
This episode, first episode of Season 8, is highly different. Now, while there are some entertaining moments, like the brawl Mannix has with the man, who gives him a bare hug is different and this one heck of a man doesn't turn out to be the villain, that's very interesting, and different.
In the meantime, this episode is something that is different, and I like the difference here. The musicians performing are pretty good, except for the end when there are a few high notes in the song, I don't think they sang well.
Another thing that is different was the acting, Mannix's acting is fine, average, but the girl who hires him just doesn't sound serious, I didn't like her acting, the singer himself, his acting is different, instead of acting as if he's concerned, he just shakes it off and laughs when Mannix mentions that someone wants you dead.
His singing friend though seems pretty normal though, and Peggy's acting is good as always, so there's that.
Otherwise, this episode is very different and from where I stand, I didn't mind, but either way, you can take any way you want, everyone has had different opinions about it so yeah 👍.
Mannix: The Ragged Edge (1974)
I'm one that likes this one!
This episode, final episode of Season 7, is a pretty neat episode. What impressed me the most was that The Brady Bunch (1969) house was used yet again and what was ironic is that in the previous season finale, the house was used then and in the next season finale or the final episode of the series. The house is used then too. Pretty cool.
Anyways, in this episode, Mannix poses as a drug addict to infiltrate a crime ring and while this episode makes sense somewhat, some of it here and there confuses me, but this episode however was still highly enjoyable, mainly because of the acting from beautiful Linda Evans and Don Gordon.
And there's a lot of action, suspense music and much more! I believe it is well worth seeing and an interesting, decent way to close out Season 7.
Mannix: A Choice of Victims (1974)
One of the very first episodes that immediately got me hooked!
A few years ago, I remember watching bits and pieces of this episode and it immediately got me hooked on the series.
So today, I re-watched it and what can I say, it isn't a bad episode. This episode, to me is very classy and made well, especially the beginning.
I love the two suits Mannix wears in the show, they look great!
The footage of the show looks very great, nice High Definition look.
But, the only issue I have with the episode is the car chase, I found that very unnecessary and it didn't even fit well with the tone of the show. Other than that, it is a favorable episode. Highly recommended!
