Incredible

As a lifelong Steelers fan, and just as a football fan this was so good it made me cry. I highly recommend. Superb acting and very warm, genuine script that really embodies Art Rooney and the spirit of footballs early beginnings. Loved it.

A Very Good Small Budget MMA Film
26 May 2016
I was very excited to see that there is finally a new MMA movie out and that it is a respectable movie. I knew going in that this was not a high budget movie and quite honestly I was being a bit of a pessimist which probably worked in the movie's favor. I expected bad writing, bad acting, cheesy fights and a plot as invisible as Wonder Woman's plane. I am not comparing this movie to Here Comes the Boom, I am comparing it realistically as a small budget film and I have to say that when I first saw Beau Casper Smart in the opening scenes in his apartment with the corn rows, I was not too sure I was going to like the protagonist so I was already thinking the worst but to my surprise the movie, Smart and the other characters started to grow on me and though it does not end with Rocky style heroics and a 7 - 12 minute long music infused fight scene, it is much more of what you typically expect from MMA fights that last 3 rounds. A bit more realistic if you ask me. Most fights in real life do not last nearly as long as Hollywood portrays. A lot less like volcano eruptions and a lot more like earthquakes. I have to say that when the movie was over it made the cut and now sits on my DVD shelf in the fight movie section right beside Here Comes the Boom and Blood Sport. I will admit that there were a couple of cheesy scenes where Smart falls in love with the lady lead and the first workout sequence building up to the big fight; music was like something you would see in a faith based film but what the film did was tell a story from start to finish that actually made sense. I wish that they would have shown the female lead, Kate Minor, up to down a little more. She has some sexy legs. Only one scene shows them.

Eat Pray Love (2010)

I identified with Eat Pray Love
8 September 2010
While Eat, Pray, Love was not the best movie of the summer, by any means, I enjoyed it. I strangely identified with Julia Roberts' character, as I have a couple of friends who have dealt with midlife crisis, in the exact same way. One even went to India and Bali and is back in Bali as I type this! I probably would not watch it a second time because it is long, and not incredibly exciting. But it was worth the watch and Julia Roberts is always amazing. It did seem that the movie was like 3 or 4 movies in one, and I think that they could have done a better job on that, but I see how it all tied together and what they were getting at. I also thought that the guy in India could have had a better horror story, but that's the reality of yuppies and their take on life! ha

This movie is a classic
27 February 2010
Though I realize that this movie may not be for everyone, it is a classic to those grew up in this generation. The Wayon's are at their best, doing what they do. People like Chris Rock are getting their starts in this movie.

When, Army Boy, Jack Spade (played by Keenan Ivory Wayans) comes home to the Bronx, where his momma has kept his room the way it was the day he left, he has no idea that he is about to be swept into a crime triangle to try and stop Mr. Big, the new crime boss of the area, who is responsible for the death of his brother June Bug Spade. June Bug died of a horrible OG (aka Over Gold), selling everything he had and selling his soul to contract more and more gold jewelry! The movie just gets crazier and crazier...funnier and funnier as it goes on. He falls in love with his brothers widowed wife, enlists Jack Slade and Fly Guy (Former Pimp of the Year) to team up in an effort to over throw Mr. Big. Jack even gets his his own theme song by none other than KRS-1, one of hip hop's greatest rappers of the time. Give the movie 30 minutes and you will be hysterical. If you like Coming to America, you will definitely like this film.

Rocky - Best boxing movie of all time
27 February 2010
In my opinion, Stallone stars in the greatest boxing movie of all time. Raging Bull, arguably the 2nd, does not even touch it. Stallone is an Italian hack boxer, in the underbelly of Philadelphia's rough boxing scene, fighting over the hill has been's, never-will-be's, and never have been's until his name is almost drawn from a hat, so to speak, by Apollo Creed's (The current world heavy weight champion) management at a time when the boxing world lacks solid contenders and Apollo figures that it will make him more popular with the fans if he gives a nobody a shot, but his manager thinks he might be barking up the wrong tree by picking a south paw that he knows nothing about. Apollo, being a business man, selects Rocky based on his ring name "The Italian Stallion." Rocky is in an inner city friend to the Italian Catholic community who stands behind him as he trains on the streets of the bicentennial city, in underground boxing gyms and in a meat locker, where he works for his future brother in law, by punching large slabs of meat into submission, in cold freezers. It's also a story about a simple man, in love with his city, culture, church and a simple girl, Adrien, who is the clerk at a pet shop below his apartment where he shops for turtle food, that he does not need, in order to have conversations with his future wife, who I might add, he never cheats on through 5 Rocky's (Refreshing). It's a blue collar story about the American dream. If you have not seen it, I insist. If you wonder how Sylvestor became a star. Stop wondering. Rent the movie and you will get the answers to your question.
