Hoodwinked! (2005)
Not bad, but not great either
Im probably not the target audience for this film (being 26) but i thought the film just wasn't that funny.
As others have mentioned, only the Wolf & Squirrel storyline was that good - although I did find the grandma one alright too.
It was plainly obvious who the bad guy was to be honest.. but maybe not to a 8 year old.
Storyline tried something different, but just fails to impress compared to other CGI films.
Some of the voices were good, but some didn't suit the characters IMO.
Kids will probably like it though... 6/10
Kronk's New Groove (2005)
Don't go out of your way to watch it
When i heard they were making this i was quited happy considering the first film was pretty good, if a little on the short side.
But then i remembered some of the Disney sequel disasters i have previously watched (im looking at you Little mermaid 2).
Anyway i watched it and unfortunately i was very disappointed. The best thing about it is the animation is superb. It really has that special polish that the "proper" Disney films have.
Apart from that.. the rest is disappointing. The storyline is seriously all over the place. One moment its about something, then completely changes to another storyline and then changes to another completely different storyline. It reminded me of how the Family Guy movie was like 3 separate episodes, turned into a film.
I laughed perhaps once at the most. Kronk was very funny in the original film but in this he just isn't funny at all.
Stay away from this film, unless someone lends it to you for free.
4/10
The Hunchback of Notre Dame II (2002)
Not too bad for a sequel
Just finished watching this film. I was pleasantly surprised that it was quite watchable actually. The songs were not that great and the animation at times looked very ropey. But it was still a fun film to watch, especially as it gives Quasi some happiness after the film film.
The original '96 film is one of my favorite Disney movies of all time.. so thankfully this one wasn't too bad.
Unlike the sequel to The Little Mermaid (which is also one of my faves) which was completely dire to watch.
Definitely worth watching if your a fan of the first film! And don't worry if you think its just for kids, I'm 24 years old and still enjoyed it.
Ginger Snaps: Unleashed (2004)
Interesting sequel, but not as good as the original
I quite liked the original film, despite the obvious low budget.
So i was looking forward to the sequel. Basically turns out the girl from the first film who survived (Brigitte) has the werewolf disease thing still, and has to keep injecting herself with the monkshood or whatever to keep her from changing. She gets thrown in a womans rehab center though for most of the film.
All while another werewolf is stalking her, wanting to mate with her. nice.
There are also several times the ghost(?) of Ginger (who was the werewolf in the first film) appears. It's weird - i don't understand what the point of this was to be honest, and Brigitte talks to her too. So you don't know if its a ghost or just her memory playing tricks on her.
Brigitte also gets befriended by a young girl at the rehab center and they close together like sisters.
The film is kinda gory, not as much as the original film though. The ending is seriously messed up though, maybe even disapointing in the way they did it.
It's definatly not as good as the original film, but its not too bad. The first half of the film is a little on the boring side but things get better later on.
I have no idea how they are going to make the third film though, especially since its based in the 1800's or something. weird.
I rate it 6/10.
Bring It On: Again (2004)
Average sequel
I quite enjoyed the original Bring it On, especially because it had two of my fave actresses (Kirsten Dunst and Eliza Duska).
The second film has none of the original cast members, and is replaced with some average actors. Well they are not bad, but i dont think any of them were as good as the first film.
Anyway, the plot is quite different from the original film but obviously still features cheerleaders fighting off against each other.
Its an enjoyable film, wasn't that funny but it had its charms. The only problem i have with it is that some of it seemed "unreal" especially the end scene (I wont say what it is, cos it will ruin the film).
Not bad, not great. *** out of *****
Jeepers Creepers (2001)
Fresh New ideas, just not that good enough.
Ive always heard mixed things about this film before I watched it, and I thought it was another high school killer type of film.
I however was pleasantly surprised. The beginning of the film starts off however pretty boring. It was too long and not very interesting until the truck appears.
The story was a great idea, it just wasnt executed very well.
There were too many "nit picks" as well in the film. Nearly one every scene, and the dead bodys looked incredibly fake.
Finally, the ending good have been better.
Its worth a rent, just dont buy it full price though.
