Mary (2005)
More than boring
My wife and I were trying really hard hard hard to see this piece of art to the very end, hoping that its endless boredom will end up, as it says "thriller" on its genre. No plot we did find, no interesting part, no good feeling of watching a movie but anger how wonderful stuff HBO showed up on Saturday prime time in the Czech Republic. Who pays for this "art"? The authors only stole some ideas from Da Vinci Code without making their final product interesting. Just non stop rehashing "Jesus this and Jesus that, and Mary Magdalene this and Mary Magdalene that", just good for priest seminary.
I understand that not every day is a holiday, isn't it? But why on Saturday evening prime time, HBO, why!?
Princezna se zlatou hvezdou (1959)
Beautiful fairy tale - romance in verses
Princess Lada flees her country occupied by villainous King Kazisvet (The "Wrecker") who threatens to destroy her father's kingdom if she does not marry him. Princess hides herself (in her ugly mice fur coat) as a dishwasher in the court of Prince Radovan, who falls in love with her. King Kazisvet floods Radovan's country, but is beaten and runs away.
To the Czechs this fairy tale is especially exceptional and dear as one of few movies created under communist supervision (1948-1989), which were not conforming to communist ideology and were only celebrating love and showed that evil is defeated by good in the end.
