Nunmuleui yeowang (2024)
Had my hopes up, but...
Edit, after watching 16 episodes:
Still a 6 from me. What might have been a beautiful series, was lost in so many other storylines. Wish it had been more about the marriagestruggles and love, and lighthearted and funny moments, and less about the secret money, shareholders, company struggles, the villain mom/son duo etc.
Original:
Was looking forward to this show, but for me, it is a huge let down.
Have watched 14 episodes, but I am sooo bored. This evenings Ep 14 got me super annoyed, and I turned it off with a few minutes left. The main plot in this episode is enough, we do not need the bad guy there as well. AND, you know how this episode is going to end, because of what the evidence the Korean police find(trying not to spoil anything here).
The ML is very stiff(«plastic»-like), and the FL is either hot/cold, but does a good job.
The Bad Guy(in the love triangle) is very unlikable, as he should be.
I only wrote this review because of ep 14. Before this, I rated the show 8, but it had gone downhill, and is a 6 for me now. The two last episodes must be something very special for me to change my mind.
Sejak (2024)
A bit boring
Edit, after watching season finale:
Dropped from 7 to 5. This show gave me nothing. Bad romance, and worst kissing scene(s) ever! The FL is without debt.
Original review:
I gave it a 7, so it could be worse! I always struggle when I cannot watch back to back, and have to wait a week for the next episode. I tend to forget the good parts, and loose interest. With this show I have noticed that I am not really interested in the characters, or dying to see what will happen next. I have seen 14 episodes, and when a K drama is (sometimes finally) coming to and end, and everything needs a closure/answers/tie up loose ends, it gets really busy, and so it seems with this show as well. Perhaps I'm just fed up watching historic dramas, because it is always the same: who should be the king?
The romantic bit, is best in the first half, I think. But FL dressed as a man in a historic drama, and ML falls in love with him/her, has been done before.
Bulgasal (2021)
Not quite sure
I have given this show a 7. Some episodes were more like 5, but since I was curious enough about the ending, I give it a 7.
I have watched every episode, but started to fast forward a bit on episode 13 or 14. Once I even wondered if I had put on an episode I had already seen.
I'm no fan of monstermovies i general, but did'nt mind these monsters, even if it was kind of stupid and bad executed.
The shallow characters (and bad actors) was the worst about this show, except for the Very Bad Guy - liked him! The leading lady was so dumb, boring and added nothing. No chemistry whatsoever with the main lead.
And the Blond Guy was the worst. Was he supposed to be 13 years old? And the sister is super dull as well. The dialogue in general was boring, and I did not connect with any of them.
Like in most K-dramas, the ending was a bit rushed. It's like the last bit, 20 mins or so, is a beginning of a new story/show, that we will never see(no second season)
Writing this, I'm not sure why I gave it a 7, and not 5-6, but I will keep the 7, because the music was ok and I did watch it until the end without being too frustrated.
Welkeomtu Samdal-ri (2023)
Seen it before...
I have finished three episodes, and felt kind of embarrassed because of the plot. Three episodes is usually enough to judge a show, even if it may go more downhill later on, you kind of know what this is about, and where it is going.
Why would anyone care about this so called famous photographer? Everything is blown out of proportions. Attempted suicide is serious, but that this strong woman(the lead), would run and hide, is silly. The story(her reason to go back home)should have been strenger.
I also dislike when grown ups, 30+, behaves like children. There seems to be several in this show.
I guess this is a show you feel like you have seen before, and you can watch while doing something else(even if you need subtitles) I may watch a few more episodes, or not.
Squid Game: The Challenge (2023)
An ok reality show
First, people should not compare this to the original Korean show. This is inspired by, but not an American copy.
This is a reality show, and you would probably enjoy it the most if you have watched the Korean show. That being said, I had forgotten most of the different games/contests, and a reminder before the contests would have been nice. Just knowing what was going to happen, before the contestants would have made it more interesting.
This is really not my kind of reality show, where money brings out the worst in people, and there are no rules. You can play really dirty, and still win. Its not a game of strategy, either, because it is so random. The person who might deserve it the most, will probably not win. Perhaps that is the point of the show?
Hi Bye, Mama! (2020)
Saddest show
Not every show is a fairytale, unicorns and Prince Charming. If you want to stay, or become, in a good mood, do not watch this. This is a show that will make you reflect and feel a lot. I was fine with that, until episode 12. I started to fast forward, because it was just too dragging, too little communication about the weirdest thing(from dead to ghost to alive to eventually dead again), repetative conversations and way too much crying. Sometimes less is more.
The leading lady/previously ghost, became too annoying. You only have 49 days, why not make the most of them, be open and honest with your family etc.
And would seeing ghosts for the rest of your life be that bad? Your mum was one...you would surely learn to live with it?!
Run On (2020)
A lot of product placement
I watched all of the 16 episodes, with a few fast forwards in the end. As in several k-dramas, it could have been cut with 4-6 episodes.
The female actors did a good job, and the female lead was natural and easy to like.
The male lead, on the other hand, I just did not get. He was really boring! The chemistry between the lead couple was awkward. I know there is usually very(!) little sexual chemistry in these k-dramas, but come on... they are 24-30, not 14 years old.
Another thing about the male lead: the lipgloss. Why? Some Korean male actors look so feminin, with too much make up and plastic like. If that goes well with the type of role he is playing, go for it, but it, not in this one.
There is a too much product placement. It's bordeline on being a commercial. When you make up scenes just for the product, you should know you are doing something wrong.
Reflection of You (2021)
I gave it up
By episode 8, I asked myself «What are you doing, watching this?!».
The Mr. Seo character, the Woman in the green coat and the overall strange vibe, made me quit watching.
I'm not a bit curious about how it all ends.
The mentioned Mr. Seo is so boring and without any charisma at all.
Why does the Woman in the green coat bother to wait for someone like him?! He did'nt seem any more interesting before his accident either.
No one in this show seem to behave like a normal person would, so it all ends up being just too many weird people and subplots. And they all seem to be at the same place at the same time, for some reason. I have seen this in so many shows, and it would be fine if they all lived in a small village, but they do not.
Even the music is wrong...
Gaet-na-eul cha-cha-cha (2021)
Started off good....
But episode 12, and beyond, lost my interest.
I kind of liked this easy going show, after ignoring it for a while. I was kind of funny, although some of the characters are a bit over the top.
I have seen many k-dramas lately, and know that intimacy(kissing, sex etc) is often cringey, or an absolute no no. I'm usually fine with this, even if I find this awkward behavior very strange (and unrealistic) when to 35 year olds act like they have never kissed before. The female lead even calls her friend a «pervert», when talking about «doing it».
In episode 12, the female lead started to act like a very young teenager, with her bucketlist and so forth. After this, everything in the show got annoying. She wants the boyfriend to talk about his past, but she hides away, feeling sorry for herself, when he needs her?!
Restaurants on the Edge (2019)
A bad travel show
When I first started watching, I did not really know anything about the show. At the very beginning, in Slovenia, I reacted to how three Amercan «experts» would know anything about the Slovenian restaurant business. It was more of a travel show. I stopped watching halfway through the Finland episode. I am so fed up by Americans(sorry, but mostly Americans) taking about Europe like a single country («Oh! It's SO European!!!), and then talk about Scandinavian design in Finland. Finland is a Nordic country, not Scandinavian, but both are part of Europe! Time for a geography lesson, everybody!
If the «experts» had the knowledge and facts in order, this might have been an ok travel show, but the restaurant part is rubbish.
Yibeon Saengdo Jal Butakhae (2023)
Cute show
I kind of liked it, and almost binged it. It did not feel dragged, and 12 episodes is just fine.
The two main characters might not have the best chemistry, and the male lead was a bit stiff.
In some Korean shows, the music is annoying, but in this show, it is very discreet and did not bother me.
The plot itself did have quite a few holes, and the ending made me ask «Why?» a few times. Some things does not make sense(even when I looked past the fantasy things), and the writers should have altered a few things regarding the memory loss in the last episodes.
What is going on with the negative Iranians in here? I do not remember any of it, and have no idea what they are talking about. No reason to feel so upset about such small matters!
Mitaraike, Enjou Suru (2023)
Not worth watching
A huge let down. I stopped watching after five episodes. I did not get this show. During those five episodes, I kept losing interest over and over.
Most of the characters are just weird and unbeliveable, and the bad acting did not make them any better.
The plot is not believable either.
I have watched a lot(!) of Korean shows lately, and very few Japanese. I am not sure if this is a typical Japanese show, or if it is just bad in general.
The sister might be one of the most stupid characters I have seen this year, and it is very annoying to watch, and that is one of the reasons I just could not waste any more time on this.
El silencio (2023)
Makes no sense
I wonder why I bothered watching!
If I had known Spanish, I would have kept it on, while I scrolled my phone, and forgot about it.
Unfortunately, I do not speak Spanish, and I never watch anything being dubbed, so I kind of had to pay attention to the screen/subtitles.
The plot, the characters, the actors etc are just so strange. I have so many «whys», that I don't even bother writing them down, but I'm not curious. I like to watch series until the end before judging. Had there been more episodes, I would not have finished.
If there is a second season(another «Why?») I will not watch it.
Don't waste your time with this!
Outlast (2023)
Awful
Was looking forward to a survival show, but this thing made me so mad. Episode 1 was kind of promising, so I kept watching until I just could not any longer, in the middle of ep 5.
I could not care less about who «won» this challenge. Netflix should just cancel it, and pretend it never happened.
Are they actors or not? Because the consept has little to do about real survival in the wilderness, and more to do about the evil in some people, and how to survive these people. Some of the contestants/actors are more dangerous than the bears, it seems.
Why would anyone think that this thing was ok to make?
Was It Love (2020)
Annoying
I'm on episode 13, and this show is getting worse and worse. I don't understand why I keep watching...
It's so frustrating and annoying to see how much they misunderstand each other, but do little or nothing to stop and listen, talk things through. I cannot sympathize with the female lead at all. Why keep the father away from her daughter because of some stupid misunderstanding? Selfish of her, and still she is portraid as some kind of single-mother-superwoman? She is also styled frumpy and not very professional. Don't like her. Have not seen the ending, but could not wait to give a bad score, because the mother is so so bad.
