Mano de hierro (2024)
Starts well, devolves into nonsense
This appeared to be a very interesting concept for a series, as I am not so familiar with the Barcelona port and how it functions, how drugs enter the port, etc. It is really an intriguing idea which caught my interest; however, after a good start and introduction of the characters, it was all downhill in later episodes.
For some reason, they started adding totally unrealistic events where anyone with half a brain would say "that would never happen, that also would never happen, etc." This destroyed the series for me as there must be some reality to the show or how can you enjoy it?
For example, EXACTLY when Victor is breaking in El Flaco's car he shows up! And then at the junk yard, EXACTLY when he decides to break out of the trunk (in broad daylight) El Flaco goes back to his car at the same moment! SO REALISTIC!
Rocio would never have left her daughter unattended so her abduction was also totally unrealistic, etc. There are more and more of these unnecessarily unrealistic events (e.g., Rocio's purse being stolen RIGHT AFTER she obtains the SIM card - COME ON GUYS!) as the series progresses that I was ready to just stop watching but I forced myself to finish it.
So much potential ruining by poor writing. Doesn't anyone reviewing these scripts mention that these events don't make any sense?
Spaceman (2024)
1 or an 8 Rating
I believe you can rate this as a #1 or #8 depending on how you classify the movie, thus I picked the median (no 0.5 possible).
If you rate this as a Science Fiction movie only, then it must be a #1 as it would never, ever, ever happen. There would never, ever, ever be only one astronaut on such a mission, full stop. Thus this situation would never, ever, ever happen. This is not science fiction as there is no science in this situation, only unrealistic nonsense. And the rescue mission? I don't remember this being discussed (perhaps I missed it), but that would take some time. How long was he floating around? How did he survive in the interim? More nonsense.
If you view it from a psychological character study then I believe it is an #8. It is moving and deep, revealing flaws in both of the main characters. The CGI of Hanush is impressive, and his death (real or symbolic) is quite sad and touching.
Das Signal (2024)
Sorry, TOTALLY unrealistic
There are 3 (at minimum) enormous flaws with this movie:
1) Radio telescopes across the world are constantly searching for signals and would have detected this transmission
2) Any object heading towards earth would be detected again by numerous ongoing surveys of the skies, which are constantly monitored for asteroids, etc. They would not need to "guess" where an incoming object is and would NEVER launch a missile at something without positive identification. This part was TOTAL NONSENSE.
3) If Voyager reentered the Earth's atmosphere it would BURN UP! It has NO heat shield!
I gave it two stars just because I wasn't sure how they would spin the ending of this nonsense.
The Ark (2023)
Cliche nonsense
Doesn't anyone review these scripts prior to production? Other reviewers have accurately pointed out several of the many flaws so I won't repeat them here, but the cliche character portrayals irked me the most (e.g., cliche nerdy characters cliche meeting and liking each other, give me a break!).
The way the characters behave-shallow, boring, profoundly unrealistic. I could not continue watching this nonsense.
I am a big fan of Sci-Fi and I am always on the lookout for new and interesting series but this is not one of them.
There needs to be some level of believability in a show, and again didn't anyone reading the script think "this is really dumb and infantile?"
Don't waste your time.
Jack Ryan (2018)
Don't waste your time
I started to watch this not having read any of the books, and from a pure entertainment/engagement perspective this was so absurd I couldn't make it through the first season. SO unbelievable and unrealistic, if the books are similar I am happy I never read them.
Mr. Ryan is the center of everything and the CIA is lost without him? Lazy, ridiculous writing in most scenes just to keep the story going, where anyone with half a brain must be thinking what I kept thinking, e.g., that would never happen, that would never happen, ad nauseum (can't believe the positive reviews for this trash).
For example, he randomly meets a woman who becomes his girlfriend, and, guess what? She works on Ebola virus and notices an issue with the types of strains which are spreading, and, guess what? The terrorist that he is pursuing is directly related to the spread of this strain. Realistic? WTF? I stopped watching after this final bit of absurdity.
Spare yourself from this nonsense, perhaps the books are better.
