Foe (2023)
Foe is a dramatic character study for adults...not recommended for sci-fi junkies.
The ridiculously low reviews are incredibly baffling. I suspect it is due to unfulfilled expectations by those thinking this was a basic sci-fi movie. It's not. Yes, there are some sci-fi undertones but that's clearly not the focus of the film.
To me, it was more of a character study with strong mystery overtones. I can see why people would be frustrated if they were looking for something else. This movie is not trying to be Interstellar...at all. It is is posing a question and revealing the "answer" through the experience of a couple living in a bleak future, presented in a very interesting and surprising (if not also confusing and frustrating) way.
If you're looking to be spoon-fed, don't want to feel things and don't want to have to watch it more than once to get the most out of it, this movie probably isn't for you. If you are interested in observing how two different people handle a very difficult and complex situation and don't mind feeling uncomfortable (also helps if you like incredible acting and beautiful cinematography), definitely give this movie a chance. It's not perfect...but it should certainly have a rating higher than "Barbie" for God's sake.
Nate Bargatze: Hello World (2023)
Hilarious!
Aside from the fact that good clean comedy is a rarity these days, Nate's mind for telling a story in the funniest way possible such a gift. This special was so refreshing! The way he can make fun of his family and himself and have you come out loving all of them is so great. There were so many great bits in this, from birth order jokes to attempting to play golf with your wife to...bald eagles touching your head (I mean, who makes a joke about that, lol)...Hello World is just the relief from the everyday stress of life that we all need. Okay, no they did not pay me to write this. I'm just excited for everyone else to experience it too. If you're not already on Prime Video, go start a free 30-day trial and check it out. Okay, no, Amazon didn't pay me to write this either, I swear.
