The Wedding Date (2005)
Definitely watchable
I'm not a romance chick, but this was not the most unbearable thing to witness. The flipped "Pretty Woman" idea intrigued me. Execution wasn't comparable, to be honest. Still, it was not a bad movie. I found it annoying how some people were forgiven for things way too quickly or when they shouldn't have been at all. Good chemistry from the leads, particularly towards the end. Dubious consent because it's a 2000s movie, but the movie has this nostalgic charm that is typical for the time period. Why not watch? Might as well just to pass the time and look at Dermot Mulroney's smirking face. He looks like he'd ruin your life, but in a fun way haha.
Glass Onion (2022)
Nothing technically wrong with the film
I don't think there is anything technically wrong with the film. It's beautifully filmed and I think the wardrobe department did a good job conveying personality and character through the outfits that characters wear. Like Knives Out, the predecessor, this movie suggests that the simpler answer if often the right one; the person who you think is the murderer probably is. I liked that twist for Knives Out, but I think I would've liked to see a less similar plot in Glass Onion. I think it definitely came across like the actors/actresses had a great time filming this movie. The morally corrupt characters make it clear who to root for. Even still, I found the ending to be a bit odd. I got secondhand embarrassment about the tantrums and it almost felt like it became a sitcom. It just needed a laugh track. The end, admittedly, did feel like it was actually the middle of the movie. But that's really all I have to say in terms of critiques. It's a good movie to pass the time. It's not bad, it's not exceptional. It's better than most movies on Netflix, so how about that? So, should you watch it? I can't see why not.
Wedding Season (2022)
I mean, pretty good for a Netflix Movie
I was so happy to see a majority brown cast in a Netflix original, so I got over my more or less hatred of romcoms. I think the lead actors had good chemistry. The wardrobe and music departments did a fabulous job. You've definitely seen the NRI marriage-set up before (ahem, Indian Matchmaking) and there are plenty of stereotypes.
If you were looking for an ambitious film that tries to be original, I don't believe this movie would be the one to choose.
Overall, this is a relatively pleasant way to pass the time. If you want a lighthearted movie to pass the time, this could certainly be a contender.
If anything, you could give this movie a watch over Teleparty with friends just to gawk and gape at the fabulous outfits.
