The Wild Wild West: The Night of Jack O'Diamonds (1967)
More West less Bond makes for a great episode
The gadgets are few in this episode, as are the mad scientists and steampunk elements that the series is noted for. In its place are strong characters, beautiful western scenery, and a good, if simple, storyline. Admittedly, the sci-fi aspects of the show are what make Wild Wild West such a remarkable show, but this episode is a nice, and effective, change of pace.
The Wild Wild West: The Night of the Big Blast (1966)
The Wild Wild Gordon
With Jim out of the picture early on, this becomes the Artemus Gordon show. Riffing on Shelley's Frankenstein theme, the writer's give Artie his long overdue share of action, including getting the girl (kind of...no spoilers here). Of course, James returns for the final fight, but it's nice to see Mr. Gordon get some of the limelight. And Dr. Faustina's lab is pure 60s kitsch (that's a good thing).
