The Snapper (1993)
Hilarious on point reminder of the 90's
I have seen this movie many times and it is always great. The excellent book was written by Roddy Doyle and the film does it justice
The eldest daughter of a Dublin inner city family finds herself pregnant and hilarity and drama ensue in equal measure
Everything in this movie is on point from the clothes to the attitudes, a real trip down memory lane
A very young Brendan Gleeson plays a small part well.
Colm Meaney plays the well meaning dad and does great justice to the character showing his warmth and caring
Mr Burgess is just dumb and gross
I'm amazed there aren't many more reviews on this site.
Mr Bates vs. The Post Office (2024)
The injustice is monstrous
Shows like tis are so important
Watching this show and knowing that it is only a drop in the ocean of the insidious mistreatment of hundreds of people and the suffering of their families over decades is mind boggling.
Pure unadulterated corruption.
The show was amazing and informative but there are many questions still unanswered.... has the money, illegally taken by the post office, been returned to its victims?
Why has no one been made responsible
Why is it still ongoing after 20+ years
My heart bleeds for all the families abused by this huge organisation.
As for Paula Venells, not an ounce of humanity in her.
Benny Loves You (2019)
Found this movie very very funny
Adorable film. I would love a Benny bear. This is a funny and original movie. All the more impressive as it was made by one man on budget and his bear idea in the film itself was brilliant. Benny the psychopathic, jealous bear. Hilarious, I would love to know more of the history and origins of the movie. The opening scene had me in stitches. I wasn't intending on watching the movie at the time but soon got sucked in. Each scene a funny sick little story. Well done Karl Holt very impressive work and you deserve big things. I don't understand the low scores at all so once again a big round of applause.
Mammals (2022)
I had zero expectations
If like me you read the reviews to see if you should watch a show then I say yes.
This is a really good show that is totally unpredictable which is good because things are usually very formulaic nowadays.
I nearly didn't watch it because James Cordon was in it and I thought that I would just get irritated by him but then i saw that Colin Morgan was in it i decided to give it a go just to watch him.
JC did a surprisingly good job and I enjoyed the show much more than I expected. They have left it open for another season and I will probably watch that as well.
So I would definitely suggest that you give it a go.
