Defiance (2008)
movie gave me a better understanding
I really enjoyed watching this movie, the camera shot and angles in this film was very well thought out. They knew where to put the camera to make you feel like you were a part of the movie, and it was very emotional. The acting also was done very well. They definitely chose the right actors to represent each character in the movie. This movie was based on true events during the holocaust, and I felt like the director did an amazing job at executing the story in a way where I understood what was happening at the time. It was a well put together film and I would definitely recommend this movie to others.

12 Years a Slave (2013)
gives you a better understanding
This movie was very well put together. The actors did an excellent job portraying their characters in such a difficult movie. They actors that played solomon and patsy showed so much emotion into their acting as if they were really experiencing this for themselves. This was a very difficult movie to watch and i can only imagine it being so much more difficult to act. Just thinking about how this is something that has actually happened, made it that much harder to watch. Not only was the acting great, the scenery displayed throughout the movie showed what horrible things can happen in such a beautiful world. Often pretty scenes of fields would be shown after a scene that was hard to watch. The camera shots were also well thought out as they always seemed to know where to put the camera. Overall i have nothing bad to say about the movie i think it gives people a better understanding of the terrible events that had happened.
Indian Horse (2017)
Good reflection on Canadian history but bad acting
Overall, I enjoyed this film and thought it was a good representation of residential schools in Canadian history. It showed the real events that took place in the residential schools (even the ones that are hard to watch) and showed how trauma like that can be passed down through generations. Three actors had taken part in portraying the journey of Saul's life and I was disappointed to see the acting done by Forrest Goodluck and especially Ajuawak Kapashesit. However, Sladen Peltier, the youngest actor of Saul, did amazing acting and definitely showed that he was relating or trying to relate to what was happening in the scenes. Watching the film, I saw that they did not show enough emotion to what was happening in the film. In general, I was very impressed with the camera, lighting and sound techniques used in this film. Those were all used to create some astonishing scenes that created an amazing representation of the events that were happening.
