Now You Know (2002)
9/10
Excellent romantic comedy
9 January 2002
I had the privilege of seeing this film at Kevin Smith's Vulgarthon 2002, and I highly recommend anyone else go see this when it is released. It is hilariously funny (especially this scenes with Jeff Anderson and Trevor Fehrman) with enough of a romance aspect to engage you into caring about the characters without detracting from the film for people who do not like romances. It will easily appeal to people seeking a good romance and those seeking a good comedy (as I said before, neither part detracts at all from the other). The acting is great, both the dramatic and the comedy. I really hope this movie finds a home at either the box office or on video because it is a great movie done by a guy who (after speaking with him at vulgarthon) seems like he really deserves any success he gets for this movie.

An odd, yet very amusing, movie
9 January 2002
This is one of the strangest movies I have ever seen... but that is not always a bad thing. One thing can definitely be said about this movie and that is originality, you've never seen, and never will see, anything else quite like it. If you go into this movie with an open mind and a light heart you will love it, as I did. It is very funny and there are scenes from it that will stick with you for awhile ("Bang, got you!"). I definitely recommend this movie to anyone with an open mind, you will love it. But if you are the kind of movie-goer who enjoys movies that stay within the set patterns of modern film-making (even those as major as not "cutting" scenes out that hold information that you seemingly need to know to "understand" the movie). This is brilliantly written (I have no idea how someone can write something this odd) and directed, and Michael Black's portrayal as the narrator is excellent.

Vulgar (2000)

Great (yet disturbing) drama
9 January 2002
Warning: Spoilers
I can't talk too much of the plot of this movie without giving anything away, but this is one fine movie. It was very well written, and the directing was great (very good camera angles and great use of mood lighting). Best of all, though, was the acting by O'Halloran. This was a very moving dramatic performance, the scenes where his character is going through the mental pain and anguish that he does (I won't say why for spoiler sake) completely comes through in his performance. I saw this at Kevin Smith's Vulgarthon 2002, a film festival hosted by a production company normally known for their comedies, but this film still brought the house down, it is a great first effort (or any effort for that matter) and I highly recommend it to anyone (over the age of 18 :) ).
