Jumanji (1995)
A fun movie!
*SOME COMMENTS IN THIS REVIEW CAN'T BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY, BECAUSE THEY ARE IRONIC*
Well I haven't watched this movie yet (just a few snippets on TV), so I decided to watch this movie to see if this movie is really good and well... here is my opinion:
The movie starts in the 1800's or something like that, ok, it was a short scene, but, I thought it got confusing, anyway, soon the movie jumps to 1969 and the movie indroduces Alan a happy kid, but, that in my opinion, he is also ignorant and boring. Anyway, in the middle of the film, the boy hears some noises that are from the board... WHY THE SCRIPT WANTED IT and he discovers this board game called "Jumanji" (obviously). After the boy's parents leave, he decides to play the game, until out of nowhere a girl named Sarah arrives and decides to play with him WHY YES and then some pretty crazy stuff happens, the boy ENTERS THE GAME and some bats appear in the chimney and the girl leaves and disappears... ok, normal, this has always happened to me.
Then the movie has a 26 year jump and a family moves into this house and we are introduced to Judy and Peter who are two kids... normal... I guess. Until one day the two kids hear noises in the attic and they find out that the board noise is like THEY SIMPLY FORGET THEY HAVE THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! Anyway, the rest of the movie has some pretty crazy stuff going on, like Giant Mosquitoes and a lion that appears out of nowhere (which is simply forgotten in the movie). By the way, the two children "resurrect" Alan, who has been 26 years inside the game (by the way, I like how he still has part of a pair of glasses). Anyway, he finds out that Alan's parents are dead and it's kind of sad, I even cried, but you know that this movie will end well and that he will apologize for everything and so on.
After that, they need to find Sarah again, because it's her turn, I thought that in her adult phase, she was too exaggerated, but anyway, then more crazy stuff happens and as expected, they finish the game and everything goes off, the kids throw the game into a sea or something and that's it. But what I found interesting was the end of the movie which shows two teenagers walking on the beach and they hear noises and guess what? IT'S THE TABOO! :O. And so, I found it interesting because this scene doesn't exactly happen in its "sequel" (and yes Hoolywood did two "sequels" to this classic, for obviously MONEY!).
Ok, jokes aside, the main thing that caught my attention was the 3D special effects, the movie was released in 1995, for back then, 3D effects are pretty good! The story is interesting, but, there were some things I didn't understand, like.... WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE WOULD CREATE A GAME LIKE THIS?! But you will probably ignore that, because the movie is good. The acting and casting fit the story perfectly. The funny and action moments also fit the movie perfectly.
Anyway, I found the movie entertaining, not a waste of time and you probably won't regret it. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes comedy, adventure and action.
Fireheart (2022)
It's not a bad movie, it's just whatever.
WARNING: Has spoilers
* The story is, in my opinion, generic, that story that a character who wants to be one thing, but can't because of something else has already been used in several films;
* The characters: I found most of them charismatic and that's all;
** The villain (yes, I had to create a subcategory of her own, because I have a lot to talk about her xD): Although the villain is unexpected, she has very generic motivations and, to me, she looked a lot like the villain of the movie "Minions" (2015);
* The animation is very good for an independent studio and that's all;
* The movie's jokes aren't good, but they're not that bad;
* The movie's soundtrack is kind of weak;
* The dubbing (the Portuguese-Brazilian version, because I'm Brazilian, not American xD): The Brazilian dubbing is very good, except for that white policeman who had a very thin voice, but other than that, it was cool;
* The message: I thought it was cute, but nothing more;
* Conclusion: It's not a bad movie, it's just whatever, it's a movie that you can easily watch with your family, but it could have been better, since this movie had enormous potential;
