Dark Winds (2022)
Struggling to watch it - only the names are the same
In the books, Leaphorn is a good cop, but not big into Navajo lore
Chee is studying to be a medicine man and is a cop.
Bernie does not appear in the books until much later, She and Chee marry, but Chee is her supervisor.
In the book by the same name. Chee is a Sgt and the story is completely different. Bernie is not even in the books yet.
Chee was never an FBI agent - the FBI did recruit him; he chose to stay with the tribal police.
The Author Hillerman has his brief bio - Google Tony Hillerman and Jim Chee
I was excited to see this, however after one episode - I'm tempted to bail.
The books are among the best mysteries out there. This show is an insult to the hard work and excellent story telling of the Hillerman family. If his daughter agreed to this version, she's slapping her dead father in the face. She better do a ghost away ceremony.
9-1-1: Capsized (2024)
Can it dumber?
This is a satire show and never should be considered realistic.
The pure stupidity of Hen, who joined as a paramedic and not a firefighter being appointed Acting Captain is ridiculous beyond belief. That's like saying that the heart surgeon is unable to operate, but the O. R. tech has great skills, he's gonna fill in.
The ships doctor suddenly knows how to treat sn and emergency? Just after we yelled it, Athena comments.
Bobby, Mr firefighter had no idea what caused the explosion, but the useless ships captain explained how gas leaks cause fires.
Hen breaks into an office somewhere and forges a request to get a helicopter to fly to Mexico? No one seems phased and several firefighters were there first?
90 minutes flying through a hurricane, in a helicopter not designed for it, they manage to save the day.
Don't forget the fake radio breaking up gag.
The fire chief takes credit
No one is fired for violating so many rules, regulations and laws.
Insert eyes rolling, and head shaking.
( I'm a former EMS and Emergency room worker. )
9-1-1 (2018)
So much wrong with this comedy
I'm a former first responder and I watch this for the laughs.
This show was written by people,
who one time saw a fire truck drive down the street. That's their complete knowledge of firefighting.
From Buck stealing a fire truck on Duty to have sex, to terrible CPR and use of magical defibrillators, let's not forget firefighters in paramedics on the scene, Who are able to diagnose major injuries, determine the course of treatment, without a CT, without an x-ray, without an MRI - and can order dispatch to notify the hospital to have a cardiovascular surgeon standing by, A neurosurgeon, Or whatever other specialist that Mr fireman can think of.
The paramedics have done field surgery that would never be allowed by any paramedic program unless it's a field medical doctor.
Some paramedic services do have field doctors who go in the field when something more needs to be done. Nobody in this station is a medical doctor.
You stabilize the patient and transport. The LAFD protocols have strict rules to what they can and cannot do.
It is so bad that active duty paramedics and after duty firefighters love to make videos laughing about the complete utter stupidity of the show.
Some of these firefighters would be fired and maybe even arrested for negligent homicide.
Let's not forget the supervisor the sergeant for the LAPD. You never see her supervising anything, She responds to calls all by herself without backup, She never calls for backup, it seems like she's always involved in some sort of scrape.
If you think this show is realistic, You probably think that Batman and Superman are real.
Law & Order: Balance of Power (2024)
Worst prosecutors ever
I don't know how these prosecutors keep their job. Every time you turn around they're evidence is being excluded.
The judge rules against them in every case.
Evidence is tossed out, often on the weakest things. Lawyers actually review this series and laugh at some of the stupid things that get tossed out.
The two police officers have no chemistry, You feel like they're just 30 seconds away from getting into a fist fight.
The lady prosecutor wants to argue with the male prosecutor; and almost sounds like she wants to be a social worker.
The captain of the cops is underused. She's a good actress and needs to be used more.
Alert: Missing Persons Unit: Gemma & Isabel (2024)
We only watch it to yell at it
Wow if in real life they sent out alerts and missing people like this! Imagine what would happen.
The open relationship between the captain and one of her subordinates seems a little off. Especially in a previous episode where they were having duty sex in a closet.
The bald lady with her witch doctor voodoo stuff... Seems a little inappropriate.
Of course Caan's character is constantly 5 minutes from an IAD investigation.
How is he able to remove the kind of sort of girlfriend's ankle monitor, whenever he feels like it when they need her to be a hacker on the job?
That feels off. Way off.
9-1-1: Rock the Boat (2024)
Getting dumber
1. Hen was never a firefighter. She joined the fire department late in life to be a paramedic. Without fireman training or passing the test for officer and leadership training, She would never be left in charge of a busy firehouse. She would have no training how to handle a fire situation.
2. Paramedics in the field do not call the hospital and tell the hospital what specials they have standing by. As a medic your job is to stabilize treat and transport. That's what they have the specialist for at the hospital to determine the next steps.
3. Who takes flex cuffs on vacation? Seriously?
4. Let me get this right, a cruise ship is missing but the Coast Guard is too busy to go looking?
Hmmm
I've seen the trailer, The fire department in LA gets on a helicopter and flies to Mexico to look. Yeah that's really going to happen... Oy very!
5. Cruise ship doctors have training to handle most emergencies. For this doctor to panic at a gunshot wound, and claim he's just a general practitioner? He went to medical school, He has first aid training, When he did residency he had to work in the ER. He knows what to do. But instead he says he can give you a seasick patch!
Thankfully a fireman was there to do the doctor's job.
6. It's a shame the cruise ship did not have people train to handle emergencies. Cruise liners need to have people trained to handle things like that, so they don't have to depend on a vacationing fireman and police officer to save the day.
- This is more of a comedy than a drama. It feels like it was written by people who once a fire truck in a toy store.
I worked around firefighters, I've worked EMS, I've worked in emergency rooms... The people of the station are the biggest bunch of bozos. This is a complete insult to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
AGT All-Stars (2023)
Worst Talent show
The old format in which America got to vote and the results for 24 hours later was much better.
We now have the so-called "super fans", no one knows who they are.
This show no longer is about the talent, It's about who has the best sob story.
The winner of this current season was a kid who twirled around on a rope. Anybody who's ever been to a circus in their life has seen this act performed by people from a younger to an older age. It is standard circus Fare. There is nothing about this kids act That would make anyone want to watch him for 60 to 90 minutes in Vegas. It's an opening act or a circus act at best.
His 90 seconds of twirling on a rope, according to these superfans demonstrated much more talent than the 13-year-old ventriloquist, The young boy magician, The Ukrainian electric light show dance troupe, The Detroit Youth choir, One of the hottest rising jazz musicians, Plus one of the funniest comedians currently touring the United States.
The super fans felt this kid's boring circus act was much better than the others.
And now according to the news reports today, He is non-binary and that's why they rooted for him and chose him.
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
A person's gender, gender ID or sexual preference should have no bearing on their talent. Talent is talent.
Alert: Missing Persons Unit (2023)
Puke!
Stupid show!
Idiot cops.
No research.
There is a Missing kid who May or may not be the real kid -he returns - cop parents accept him without question.
There is a voodoo cop, burning candles, uttering foreign language prayers and an overall creepy vib.
Cop and ex wife cop - ex wife has a BG whom she has sex with in a closet -; during work hours while they are supposed to be looking for a missing person.
Hey Tennessee - how did that work for you?
Every missing person - regardless of age gets an Amber alert. Within a few hours.
Oh wait, it's a homicide? No prob - why bother The trained homicide investigation team.
They go everywhere. Rural cabin shootouts?
Lead cop sets a bomb to blow up bad guys.
And the voodoo priestess witch doctor fortune teller that reads tea leaves and eggs as part of the investigation.
How quickly will it be cancelled???
New Amsterdam: Truth Be Told (2022)
This storyline will never end
I think we'll discover a cure for cancer, heart disease ,diabetes, prostate cancer ,bowel cancer, and aids before the storyline ever ends.
It just goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on.
Every time you think it acts like a real doctor show it goes off on this idiotic tangent with this weird drama that never ends.
Good Sam (2022)
Actually sort of refreshing
It's an interesting story with flawed people who have made mistakes.
There are actual medical stuff here and any personal drama simply forwards the story.
No social agenda... Just a story.
NCIS: Hawai'i (2021)
Not the best
I not bothered with the female SAC, that's okay. Early on her speaking seemed forced and dull.
The computer Guy is a bright spot.
Older male agent: the episode where he went Rambo when he and his daughter were kidnapped, this was a good episode.
Younger male agent, he finally goes undercover as a line cook. A good ep.
However, the forced lesbian scenes are pure H. R. Nightmares. The tall blonde is essentially harassing the short lady. The short gal keeps telling her to leave her alone and she continues to press. So many workplace violations. These scenes are becoming cringe worthy.
This needs to go away.
I Can See Your Voice (2020)
Entertaining
It is entertaining, they have a good mix of contestants that cover all areas of the diversity spectrum.
Dr Ken is a decent and funny host.
Some of the guest judges are boring, when Dr Ken buddy Joel is on it's much more humorous. I still don't understand what Cheryl Hines adds to the show. Is she the money behind it and just wants to put herself in?
The golden Mic is kind of corny.
Overall it's and entertaining guessing game. If you're a fan of mysteries it's kind of fun to test your detective skills and see how often you're wrong.
Law & Order: Organized Crime (2021)
Sometimes not worth watching
I'm a sucker for a good cop show.
I really enjoy the Law and order franchise, especially when you get half cop half lawyer.
I think what would help this show out: don't drag the storyline out to the point that you become bored and don't care.
Some of the storylines have gone for so long that it becomes a struggle to finish.
I've actually let it sit in my queue and only watch if I have nothing else to do that day.
The Wheatley storyline went way too long.
I'll be totally shocked if they renew this one for the next season. If they do it only be because it has a law and order in the name.
9-1-1: Lone Star (2020)
This has to be a satire show, it's that terrible at times
If you've ever been a first responder or worked EMS, you will bang your head against the wall watching this thing.
There are reviews on YouTube from doctors and paramedics who just cannot believe the stupidity of the medical stuff in the show. Some of the things they do during the rescues are kind of goofy. I've seen a lot of reviews of firefighters scratching their head and shaking them.
It is entertaining if you view it as a satire.
The redeeming quality of the show is the interaction between the actors. They asked for the most part they get along well.
Of course the produces the show tend to forget that the city has a very strong firefighters Union and they tend to do a lot of things ignoring the Union.
What's very interesting is often the other fire stations have multiple officers, this one only has the one officer.
I'm giving it three stars for the first responder inaccuracy.
( I do this as a trained first responder)
The interaction of the characters does make it enjoyable. They have good characters and a good mix.
If only they'd be a little more true to First responder stuff.
Chicago P.D.: Gone (2022)
S9/E15
Adam is hurt busting through the door. The sergeant tells him to get treated at the hospital he refuses. In real life if a cop's injured on the job they're required to be treated.
The department is not going to allow him back in the field without medical treatment.
In real life, Adam and Kim would not be allowed to be in on this investigation. They are too close to it.
It is also interesting to know that with every police officer in the entire city of Chicago, including any state or county cop involved....
Kim finds the kid
Adam kills one of the kidnappers and beats down the other.
These two beat every cop inthe world to save the Day.
It's time for this stupidity to be canceled.
Chicago Med: Things Meant to Be Bent Not Broken (2022)
4th amendment issue
When they searched the patient's purse, a big deal was made that it was a violation of the Fourth amendment.
The issue is: the Fourth amendment does not apply to private property. Security officers in hospitals and stores often search bags.
The TSA routinely searches bags without a search warrant.
Retail store loss prevention people can insist on searching your purse or bag if they suspect something. It's not a violation of the Fourth amendment.
The fourth amendment protects you from search and seizure by the government.
Also the patient with the first time diverticulitis that ended up with a colostomy. And my family I know many people who have had 14 -16 bouts of diverticulitis: not one of them has needed a colostomy bag. They've even had surgery to have parts of their intestines removed.
