Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (2022)
An excellent, if slightly rushed, product.
From a presentation perspective, this show is a pleasure to watch. The visuals and sound design are flashy and immersive, and they're surprisingly accurate to the game. Though "subs > dubs" is a common sentiment online, this show would likely count as an exception. After watching the show with both, I can honestly say the English dub honestly makes a lot of the emotional moments hit harder, as well as the voice actors simply fitting the characters really well.
The story is also great, and it had me engaged all the way through, except for one part.
(Spoilers ahead)
About midway through the show, there is a dramatic timeskip, which isn't pulled off as well as it could be. This gets into the show's general pacing issue, in that some things feel a little bit too rushed. Edgerunners is one of the only shows I've watched where I think having 2 or 3 more episodes really could've helped pace out the story a little better.
As is though, the story is really gripping, and the final episode is an absolutely perfect bow on top.
Blood of Zeus (2020)
Close to being good.
This show sets itself up well in the first episode or 2, and the overall plot is pretty good. The animation isn't on the same level as some of the studio's other work (such as Castlevania), but is still very pretty. The gods and main villain especially are quite interesting.
The issue is that these interesting characters are mainly sidelined for the very bland human characters (primarily the main protagonist, who doesn't have even a singular personality trait). This led to most of the show having bad pacing, and a lot of the drama falling flat. Additionally, while Zeus is one of the best characters, his intervention often felt like it was just moving the plot along, rather than adding to it. Not to even mention all the exposition dumping (even if one of the flashbacks is very interesting).
Ultimately, it's wasted potential, which is all the more painful considering just how much potential there was.
Tumo kodeksas (2018)
An engaging documentary, though with some downtime
This documentary is well shot, well edited, and has interesting insights into the life of Vaizgantas, and is one of the better Lithuanian films I have seen. There are also additional scenes showing certain events from Vaizgantas' life, and the actor portraying him does a good job, really showing you the personality of this historical figure.
The main problems with this film stem from the occasional dip in engagement during walk-and-talk scenes about the author, though this is par for the course for many documentaries. My only other major complaint is that the actors for certain side characters are rather stiff, however this is not prevalent in the film and won't bring down your viewing experience.
