Soft & Quiet (2022)
Propaganda as to be expected
Another typical garbage 'neo-nazi' propaganda piece that inverts and distorts the ideologies of national socialism (As if we needed any more more of them). Nothing new to see here except for the motion-sickness inducing camera and obnoxiously annoying characters. The last half is basically just women screaming at and over each other at the top of their lungs over a backdrop so dark you have no idea what's going on. What's actually hilarious is how one of the women explains how she had been brainwashed (about white people amongst other things) and then the movie proceeds to do just that and in a very Marxist fashion (e.g., the only male character in the whole movie is a defeated coward who powerlessly let's his wife run all over him) True national socialism is not about hating other races but yet the director of this movie either seems to think that it does or she's trolling her audience. Since she also has a short film entitled: "I want to marry a creative Jewish girl", I tend to think it's the latter.
The Flintstones (1994)
So much fun you'll wish you were an extra
Many reviewers here really need to relax and lighten the hell up. Remember that this movie is based on an old COMEDY CARTOON, so don't expect some kind of abstract, artsy 'tour de force' that'll move you to tears or a "gritty, riveting, nail-bitter" lol. Seriously, some of you guys sound like you expect way too much as if you never even seen the original series.
Moving on, I gave this a 10 because as someone who actually did watch the cartoon, there's not a single thing I would change about it. I think the casting was absolutely spot on. Every actor matches the original character to a tee. The FX are a visual feast the whole way through, and yes, they look completely appropriate coming from the source material. Loaded with colorful and fun props and puppetry, the entire set looks like a prehistoric amusement park as it should. Sure the CG is a bit dated but the film utilizes very little of it anyway. It's packed with puns and light-hearted humor and has a sraightforward story about friendship and morality- perfect movie to watch either with the family or if you simply want to unwind and have some fun.
Found Wandering Lost (2022)
Don't hesitate to read, I put a warning before any spoilers
As someone whose tired of Hollywood garbage, I decided to check this one out after reading the reviews here and decided it appropriate now to leave my own (before I forget) Overall, I have to give an A for effort given the budget, as others have pointed out. The camera work is reasonably good and the characters are realistic. I don't know if it was just me but somehow only the very beginning seemed just a bit cheesy, at least compared to the rest of the film but that feeling pretty much ended after the first scene, so maybe I was just adjusting. Everything after that seemed to be executed greatly (at first) until the climax which was unfortunately a big disappointment. Call me old-fashioned but if I'm dissatisfied with an ending then it pretty much ruins the whole film for me. This time around though, it was equally frustrating as it was confusing, causing me to backtrack events that happened earlier on and critically analyze them and I realized that a few of them didn't make much sense. Basically if my take on endings sounds like yours, or if you're easily depressed, you may wanna seek out another indie film. Now this is the part where I start dissecting those scenes I mentioned earlier so be warned.
***SPOILERS AHEAD***
Okay, so the very unlikelihood of Ben being totally oblivious to the shootings was so frustrating it was almost agonizing. I mean the one hitman actually shoots his gun at the sky immediately after getting out of the car without even closing the door if memory serves me right. Ben seriously didn't hear that?! Then multiple more gunshots and screams afterwards and the only the lead antagonist returns to the car, unaccompanied by anyone else, and Ben STILL doesn't even seem the least bit suspicious? Did I miss something?
So let's back up then to the first scene where the two hitmen are first introduced. The thinner, lower-level one puts heavy emphasis on the importance of burrowing the body of the victim, which makes sense of course. This becomes contradictory when they shot the maintenance guy dead and just leave his body on the side of the road. Next they capture the girlfriend and she seriously doesn't even make a peep the whole time? I guess I could forgive that had it not been for Ben suddenly becoming deaf, dumb, and blind while the excruciatingly obvious killings took place. To top it off, the remaining assassin doesn't even attempt to hide the bodies. Kudos to Nicholaus James for drawing me into the characters enough to care and I get the deeper meaning that was trying to be conveyed but it was overshadowed by dissatisfaction. Great potential though.
The Toxic Avenger (1984)
How has this not been banned?
It's not really the acting that makes this filth so unwatchable, it's the horribly distasteful and disturbing cruelty. I had to stop watching immediately after the first death scene in which a group of teens run over an innocent boy twice. The second time, it shows the boys head being crushed and the girls getting out of the car to take pictures of the body with an attitude like they just won the lottery. Seriously, who even thinks of such things let alone goes through the effort to visualize it? If you think that is entertaining in anyway then you're part of what's wrong in the world and I want nothing to do with you. It makes me sick to see the high reviews on this and more so to read that some people did in fact find that scene to be funny! What if that happened to your own child? Still funny then? Absolutely disgusting.
