Ozark: Coffee, Black (2017)
Huge Improvement Over the Last Episode
Just a great episode. Glad things got back on track. So much about this is awesome. The cinematography's insanely good, the actors are so talented, and the conclusion to Russ' storyline is handled really satisfyingly. I feel like all of the big events and huge decisions in this episode were really natural and well-written. Also, I've got to appreciate the episode for calling out the scam that is the funeral industry.
Invincible: It's About Time (2021)
Perfect Debut
This is just a great start. The pacing is great, it captures that golden-age superhero feel, while remaining modern and relevant, and the cast is just excellent. Steven Yeun is perfect as Mark. Nobody can outdo J. K. Simmons though. As a reader of the comics, I think shortening the Guardians of the Globe storyline and adding it as an epilogue to the first episode is a great choice. It establishes the series as something more than just a fun, breezy superhero cartoon, and adds a really good twist to the first episode. It seems almost impossible not to want to see what happens next.
Ozark: Kaleidoscope (2017)
A Very Boring and Unnecessary Episode
Overall, this episode could easily be skipped and doesn't even really add any sort of depth to the characters or Marty's history with the cartel. There are a couple good moments here and there, and the actors are doing their best to work with such a dull script for the most part, but nothing about this indicates that there was any care put into the episode from a storytelling perspective. I'm wondering whether this episode was planned, or if they just needed to fill an episode.
What We Do in the Shadows: Resurrection (2020)
Decent Start to the New Season
Overall pretty funny, but nothing amazing. Benedict Wong does a great job and Haley Joel Osmond has a pretty good guest appearance. Colin is still the best main character and continues to steal almost every scene he's in.
