The Beekeeper (2024)

What the hell was that?
2 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
What was David Ayer thinking when making this movie? This HAD to be a cash grab for him lol. You could tell right away the cinematography was off, like it seemed a bit low budget. But up until the final part of the film it was tolerable, and then the Presidential party happened. What the hell was that? Like were those mercenaries supposed to be represent Fortnite characters? Like WTF? Was this for the younger generation or not, it was so confusing. Like apparently the elite of the elite mercenaries are a bunch of clowns from a colorful Mad Max, they were apparently allowed into an event, and allowed to be around and protect the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ffs, bossing around the FBI and the Secret Service with no oversight. Who thought this was ok to spend millions of dollars (probably) and put this whole thing into a movie and so "Ya this works". This is so unfathomable and stupid.

Like the whole Bee Keeper backstory was very cool and a good concept, and for the most part this was enjoyable if you didn't think it to hard about it, but the end ruins it all, especially when the son was doing cocaine while his President of the USA mother was right there, really started to fall apart lol Be better David Ayer wow lol.

The Marvels (2023)
1/10
Oooof lol
26 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I was bored and started watching this....wow what a pile of garbage. I'm half way through and when they got to that city where everyone sings to communicate...yup that was the last straw. Garbage. Pure garbage. The power distribution makes no sense. Sometimes Captain Marvel can destroy a planet, and then she's having trouble with random shoulders. WTF? And like the woman villain at the Skrull world opened a portal and just jumped into her ship and took off and Captain Marvel just watched the whole thing? And Kamala Kahn is the absolute WORST. She is so annoying, trying to hard and making all these stupid one liners that just irritate me. Why did they write her like this? Why did they release this movie? Did nobody watch it and critique it before release? This was embarrassing and the first Marvel movie I couldn't watch the whole way through. A real shame.

Welcome to Wrexham: Hamilton! (2022)

The old man and his lies....
27 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So the beginning of the show starts with Arthur Massey, and first thing he does is start out lying. The infographic said he was 91, and he said he went to his first Wrexham game in 1931 when he was 7. Well that's a lie because if this was shot in 2021, he would have been BORN in 1930, so at minimum, it would have not been until 1937-38 when attending his first game. Why did no one correct this old man?

Still a good episode though, as is the series as a whole. I've really enjoyed it. I found myself comparing this to Ted Lasso quite a bit as it seamlessly played out like a script, even though it a documentary it sorts.

Inuyashiki (2018)
8/10
Good adaptation
24 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Just recently found out there was a live action adaptation of Inuyashiki and I was surprised how good it was compared to other anime adaptations. The anime is much better than this movie but that's because they could tell the story in more detail over a 6 hour period compared to the 2 hours they had to work with this film. But the cinematography and flow and graphics were beyond what I could have imagined as this must have had a good budget to do what they did with this movie. Very impressed! The set locations were almost identical to the anime which blew me away because I found myself comparing places with the anime.

I found the first half to flow better than I thought it would and did the anime justice for what time frame they had to work with, BUT when it reached the point where he grabbed Hanako and flew away is when it seemed rushed and a lot was glossed over until the end. There were some key instances in the anime that should have been in the film after this point that better drove the character development in my opinion and some stuff in the film that should have been shorten or taken out completely, as I didn't see the relevant importance compared to the other plot points that should have been in there.

Plus there were key character development issues, like learning all his powers, that weren't shown and he just did it without explanation, such as flying with the Hanako which he didn't in the anime because his flying abilities took time and trial and error as he made mistakes, but not here as he was a professional right from the beginning.

Also there was no real good explanation about how they got their powers really, while in the anime it is talked about a few times with the beings who bestowed the powers on them. If people just watched this and not the anime first, there is A LOT left out. Thankfully I did watch the anime a few times and knew what was what.

But as adaptation and in comparison to other adaptations (which is what I'm basing my rating on), I give this an 8.3/10.

Ya I dunno what to think
24 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I am not all the way through this series yet as I am waiting for the dub to finish, but I actually enjoyed this anime, it was wholesome yet sad at times in a frustrating way for the Duke as he deserved more than he has.

But the gripe I have with this is that it's wholesomeness keeps it from thinking logically about the Dukes situation. His family is rich so he has means, and so he should be out proactively looking for a way to cure his curse, looking for for the witch that did this, but NO, all he does is sit around his mansion with his stupid hat and wallow in self putty about his situation. Man the fuck up and do something about it, have an adventure or die trying.

Also, he is worried about he is family disowning down the road through a succession of power possibly, and what does he want to do? Play the piano to make a living smh. What he should be doing with his curse is joining the military, get special training, and become the Angel of Death if he wants to do something worthwhile with his curse. The military would snatch him up in a heartbeat if he can kill the way he does and a little training goes a long way.

These people around the Duke are enabling him to the point that he is delusional to think that he can live like that forever all the while doing fuck all. They needed to stop being enablers and push him to help him utilize his curse or find a way to get rid of it.

I know this is a semi wholesome anime (minus the cock tease Alice's parts lol) but it's frustratingly annoying that he doesn't help out his situation, he just sitting back like a lazy nobleman waiting for help to fall into his lap.

But for what it is, it is a good anime but could have been far better with more killing lol jk, but a 6/10 seems fair for the laziness of the protagonist.

Rent-a-Girlfriend (2020–2023)
5/10
What people are giving this a 10 lol
22 December 2021
Kazuya is THE WORST. If the characters were in junior high THEN this would make more sense lol. The characters are in their 20's and act like immature kids when it comes to romance, and it get VERY annoying. Like Kazuya rents a girlfriend Chizuru, and then can't distinguish whether she is his actual girlfriend or not, even when he's paying her? Like come out of it. He's in university, he should know what's what. He has moments of clarity where I'm like "ok good, he knows what's going on" then a minute later something VERY subtle happens and he's back in his dillusion again, really makes him off putting and not want to root for him at all lol. If they didn't have him as such a dork with no common sense and more of sensible guy that gets put into the same scenarios with Chizuru but genuinely knows the situation but later on falls in love, it would have been a lot better than putting up with his antics. I gave this a 5/10 only because of Kazuya, as the anime itself was good as I've seen much worse but like 2 little tweeks and a personality change and this would be in the same league as Horimiya.

Twin Star Exorcists (2016–2017)
6/10
I hope this gets better...
13 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So I am in the process of watching this (episode 15) and I enjoyed this up to episode 10 then what the hell? There was a good mix of comedy, action, drama, and serious side that gave it so much potential to be something more.

Up to episode 9 it accumulated to the boiling point where the drama and seriousness of what was taking place made this quite compelling. With the realization of numerous players, histories, and revelations involved and how the impact on Benio and Rokuro, the heart felt emotions at the end of episode 9 made me want to see more as they vowed to become serious and gain more power to overcome the deficiencies they lacked and to do it together. I was like "finally!", the two would become closer, work together and grow closer to their intimate romance....then there was episode 10. Just a complete 180 and a cut the feelings out of the previous episode back to zero. Rokuro is an idiot and whoever wrote his for his character is an idiot too. He vowed to become better and stronger, but all he did was yell at the people trying to help him, especially his superiors and Benio, and selfishly wanted to do everything himself without Benio, even though he knew he had to. He still just jumped into things without thinking when he knows he has to. Did I mention he yells ...A LOT... basically the most annoying thing about him. And he's constantly yelling over the stupidest things. JUST SHUT UP and think about your actions, you don't have to be an asshole. With all the trauma from his past and supportive friends around him, why did they write him like this? He's an ingrate and selfishly idiot. Really makes watching this show unbearable even though everything else is good. Also, Benio had a level head, smart and headstrong but still insists on belittling Rokuro even when she knows she can't afford to to that, like they both know and have been told NUMEROUS TIMES that they have to get closer to become stronger, and they VOW to become stronger, yet they both don't nearly take any of this seriously. It's agonizing. Like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

This could have been a god tier anime if they progressed it from episode 9 in the serious dramatic flow they had going, that they both shared a common goal and would do anything to achieve it, and they could have spliced in comedy along the way without deviating ftom that point. But no, they made them idiots.

So much potential, what a shame.

Wowsers!
9 December 2021
Just happened upon this as the dub just recently came out and WOW is all I can say...so much potential! Only 3 episodes in and they isekai'ing like an old pro! I was quite shocked as to how well the story is unfolding just in these episodes I have watched. I figured "Ya, assassination and aristocrats...hmmm" and couldn't really formulate in my head how they could make it good. But it is a TRUE isekai. There are other good ones out there (Mushoku Tensei, Slime, Arifureta, so What Spider, Shield Hero) and this is right in that mix. I'm solely a dubber so I have to impatiently wait for the remaining episodes unfortunately lol.

Lots of potential but pacing is WAY to fast
1 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
To be honest, I've only watched 7 episodes so far but am going to continue to watch hopefully until completion.

Anyways, my thoughts thus far are that this anime is well drawn and pretty good for what I can understand BUT the pacing is WAY to fast, which makes me the timeline choppy and is less fluidic that I had hoped. Episode 1, Theo is a wandering lord with no allies, by the end of the episode he conquers the lord of that territory, which has a dilapidated castle and then it ends. All good and fine. By episode 3 he has an army if allied forces and a large castle as his stronghold, NONE of the events preceding was ever shown on how he got that castle, he was just there like it was his own. They talk about battles to get to that point but it's vaguely glossed over, no substance to get to this point and little interest of the main characters as there has been minimal development of them to this point but SO MUCH has happened that was never shown. Huge disappointment. Episode 4 he's Baron with a vast amount of land and by episode 5 he's a knight with no land and serving as maid even though he's a knight. He was literally in an apron dusting off books, while the previous episode he had his own castle and army ffs lol.

Just WAY TO FAST and minimal development of characters so far. I just assumed with 24 episodes that they would take their time and develop these plot points but not yet.

Like I previously said, I'm only on episode 7 of 24, so maybe my preconceived thoughts may be of a hastily forethought, and hopefully that is the case, but I dunno... The anime itself is good and I am enjoying it and is why I will continue watching bit these issues keep it from being good or great than the mediocrity that it is now.

Toradora! (2008–2009)
6/10
A little long in the tooth
1 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
So I must admit Toradora is a good anime, and the characters were well developed but ultimately the romance between Ryuji and Taiga takes too long and is too short lived and is too complicated with all the other budding romances peppered throughout the series. If this had a 2nd season and developed their relationship further, I would have definitely given this a 10/10, but because of the last 4 episodes I have this a generous 6/10. They should have started developing their feelings for each other around episode 15 or so, and had 10 episodes where they if they/won't they and then end the last 2 episodes together and happy. But 22 episodes for them to kinda realize their feelings towards each other, and the heart break of Minori, whom should have had her moment early on and not still in the mix in episode 24 ffs, she should have been long gone and in friend mode by then.

And then at the end they have Taiga leave the way she did for an entire school year and crush Ryuji's heart like that, and then when they meet in the locker in the classroom at the end and he says I love you and she hits him and that was it? Like c'mon. They should have embraced with a passionate kiss for not seeing each other for so long a she says I love you back, THEN maybe hit him after for some reason, but not that way they did. So disappointed with that ending. Like even if they tacked on another 10 mins in the episode of them together after the classroom scene and elaborated more on their affections and companionship and then ended, I might have given this an 8/9 out of 10. That stupid ending really ruined it.

This would be good if it wasn't so frustrating lol
21 November 2021
From the start it was weird, but a good weird, and you suspect the story and mystery unfolds as the episodes progress but you never get that satisfaction but the whole time you hope you would as it was so close to opening up, but doesn't, then it ends. Urabe must have some major traumatic issues as she won't let her boyfriend, whom she is basically obsessed with and loves with sooo much devotion, touch her even with a hug. There are certain points where they open up, have a break through in their relationship, and emotionally at it's climax it should flow the way Tsubaki naturally and instinctually wants to embrace Urabe and then it's ruined as she won't let him even get close and there is no resolution to this behavior and just becomes frustrating and annoying towards the last few episodes, with being only 13 episodes and all. I understand that initially the she should be closed off and what not, but they should have eventually had Urabe open up and let her guard down with Tsubaki, with her being so obsessed with him, but it doesn't happen and they just seem to be strangers that walk home and swap spit once a day, it's frustrating and weird that the writers decided to keep Tsubaki at arms length from Urabe and not elaborate on the many questions that revolve around Urabe when it could have been so much more emotional and captivating throughout the series. Huge miss.

This would have been easily rated higher if not for the weird tactile eccentricities of Urabe.

Surprised how much I liked this but...
20 November 2021
This came out of nowhere. I'm not one to watch anime like this, but saw a random recommendation on Gogo Anime and here I am after bingeing both seasons praising it lol I'm a bit older so I wasn't sure about the high school aspect but it kept me drawn in and entertained, was really quite surprised as I've tried watching a couple others similar to this but disliked the direction immediately.

The only complaint I have is who he ends up with, no spoilers, but I was definitely rooting for anyone else lol.

In all honesty, I was hoping the quintuplets would have came to a compromise and decided they all should marry him, I know it would be bit weird, but it is an anime and polygamy is a common theme around the world, and the chemistry between the 6 of them wouldn't have been that far out of the realm of a possibility and the only solution I thought that would have made everyone happy, including the audience. One has to wonder where the other sisters were during the wedding because you never saw them and the feelings they had during the wedding was never addressed, lots of dangling threads I hoped would have been shown but was not. Still definitely worth a watch in my opinion for what it's worth.

Heaven's Lost Property (2009–2010)
3/10
Meh
19 November 2021
Don't understand the 10/10 reviews as this is just average at best. The main male character is annoying and moronic and does nothing to help his situation. Anyone with any brains could figure out the simplest solution and resolution to the happenings in certain situations but it turns into a whole thing that could have easily been avoided and if the writers had any sense of direction, they could have elaborated and expanded some of this situations he gets involved in with more finesse and intelligence, all the while keeping the ecchi aspect and making this A LOT better. This could have been a so much better if the protagonist had an IQ over 80 and wasn't such a degenerate.
