Belgravia: The Next Chapter (2024)
Ignore the low scores
Ignore the low scores. I thoroughly enjoyed this. The story had many elements to it and kept my attention and me entertained throughout. If there was one negative it would be the character Frederick Trenchard. I felt the actor playing him had only one expression on his face. I feel I need to see him in something else to see if he acts any different. A comedy role perhaps because to watch him on screen in this was pretty depressing. Apart from that all of the other characters were good but one really stood out for me. The actress Hannah Onslow. Her facial expressions in every scene were captivating. She doesn't have to deliver a line of script, she just expresses herself so well with her facial expressions and body movements and often had me giggling. Well worth a watch and even a binge.
The Zone of Interest (2023)
Genocide
This movie is a must watch in my opinion. I was drawn to it due to the current genocide taking place before our very eyes in Gaza. It's hard to believe that such atrocities are being repeated hour day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute in Gaza while part of the planet condones, congratulates, cheers and funds it. In the movie there is a genocide taking place whilst the perpetrator and his family ignore the screams of the victims. It made me wonder how easily the current Nazis get on with their daily lives whilst just over the road, fence or border a literal genocide is taking place. How easily they manage to sleep at night. How easily they churn out denial to the atrocities. How their cohorts enable the massacre. A great movie for seeing the parallels. In those that are able.
Sullivan's Crossing (2023)
WOW!!!!!!!
I wasn't sure about this after watching 1 episode but sooooooooooo glad that I stuck with it.
The setting is gorgeous. Nova Scotia in Canada and the scenery will blow you away.
Some fine acting going on there and a special mention to Scott Patterson and Chad Michael Murray (Cal who is the heartthrob of the series).
Story centres around Maggie a neurosurgeon who works in Boston who end up being accused of a young boy's death in the trauma room. She returns home to Sullivan's Crossing, a campsite and her family home to a father she barely knows and who she accuses of abandoning her when she was a child when her mother left him and took them to Boston. The finale had me in pieces sobbing. Please!!!! There must be a Season 2 !!!!!!!!
It's a HIT no doubt about it.
You would be crazy not to watch this fine production. I loved it!!!!!!
Barbarians Rising (2016)
Bad
This is a badly made production. Very bad. The first point is Hannibal was not a black African. Why did they cast a black African in this role? Why is there such a desperate move by the Afro Centric movement to distort history? I really want to know. Anne Boleyn, Hannibal, Cleopatra and now king Richard III.
Also why is Jesse Jackson narrating on this? What possible relation to this except to emphasize even more that he was black when he wasn't.
Is this a new trend in film making. To educate the population with distorted facts.
History teachers around the world must be horrified in finding that the subject they studied so hard to teach accurately to their students is now a joke. Manipulated to suit agendas. Falsification of facts. Hannibal is just another one added to the mix. Avoid this and don't let your children be manipulated into thinking this is accurate in any way.
Maternal (2023)
Excellent
Ignore the low scores. They are obviously trolls. This was a binge worthy series and deserving of a second season.
Good character development and storylines. Acting was great and so nice to see female leads steal the show.
Tells the story of three female doctors who have returned to work after the pandemic. Mixing their work lives with their home lives. The shocking decline in NHS services and the unbearable pressure the staff deal with each day.
Dealing with life and death decisions. A well balanced series and worthy of a watch.
I for one look forward to a second season.
I give a solid 10.
The Suspect (2022)
That beard YUCK!
Loved Aiden Turner in Poldark and Being Human but something happened to him after Poldark. That beard does him no favours at all and maybe time to ditch it. Saying that he did a good job with a very predictable storyline. From episode 2 I had the killer down as the plumber. The water/fish motifs popping up was a dead giveaway. It was just too obvious and that spoilt it for me.
If Aiden is reading this please ditch the beard and get back to who you were before you started making bad decisions on the roles offered. You can do so much better. Let's get that sex appeal back on screen for the ladies.
The Road to Galena (2022)
Alisa Allapach !!! That silly vocal fry voice!!!
Another mediocre movie made almost unbearable to watch because of the fake vocal fry voice of Alisa Allapach.
Why oh why do these B and C list actresses insist on faking that silly juvenile voice?
The story wasn't up to much, pretty predictable from 20 mins in as to the way it would go. Nothing new here. Extremely annoying though to listen to that fake voice which in the end I muted whilst she was speaking. A real turn off for me.
The Staircase (2022)
LOVED IT
Colin Firth puts in a fabulous performance. Full of suspense, so many angles all being drip fed to the viewer which keeps you on your toes. A MUST watch in my view.
Hullraisers (2022)
Def a bingeworthy series
This is hilarious. So many one liners that crack you up. The script writer has done a great job and the characters are uncouth, loud and so so funny.
Hope they make a second season as 6 episodes just seems too few.
The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe (2022)
Loved it
You will not be disappointed. Excellent acting by Marsan and Dolan, the looks on Dolan's face when he tells her of his wild schemes is priceless. I can't think of anything not to like about this series at all. Watch it, you will really enjoy it.
Anatomy of a Scandal (2022)
Fabulous
This is a great show and definitely one you can binge in a night. Fab acting from the 3 main characters. If you don't already hate the Tory Party and all their sleaze, corruption, sexual high jinks and drug taking, then you will by the end of this. Can't wait for Season 2.
Ps Look out for the David Cameron and Boris Johnson caricatures in the Bullingdon Boys Club, white lapel jackets.
Hotel Portofino (2022)
Wonderful and what we all need right now.
A much needed tonic. Gorgeous scenery, excellent cast and storyline. If you're into Downton Abbey and The Durrells then this is the perfect blending. Don't miss it. This kind of series could run and run because we need more of this in these grey times.
Toast of Tinseltown (2022)
I love Matt Berry BUT!
This was truly awful. I didn't laugh once, it was actually painful to watch. What has happened to our Matt? Quite surprised to see Aidan Turner accept the gig and it done his CV no favours at all. Dire, unfunny and you would do well to miss it entirely.
The Larkins (2021)
Nice family show
Nice family show. Darling Buds is unbeatable but this remake is definitely the kind of feel good show we all need right now. Ignore the bad reviews. Give it a go and you won't regret it I promise you.
Murder Island (2021)
LOVING IT
Totally addicted. The scenery is beautiful and story line gives you a LOT to process and think about. It's cleverly written, so many motives and you are drip fed important leads to follow up. This is not going to be an easy quick one to solve. I feel we are going to be guessing right up to the end who did the killing and why. Definitely worth watching if you like crime dramas and puzzles. Ignore the bad reviews. Give it a watch, you won't regret it one bit.
