Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na (2008)
A teen oriented film!
Based on the metrics of how many audiences does the film cater to, I give it just five points because this film is mainly or may be only meant for teenagers. All that happens throughout the film is boyfriend and girlfriend make-up and break-up, thats it. The good part is that there is equal impetus on story(the soul of a film) as well as visual appeal. Also, It has good sense of humor here and there. For the acting, Imran Khan was good for his debut and Genelia's acting credentials from Southern movies have helped her do good. All in all its an OK film.
I would also like to comment on a statement in a scene where khan's mother tells Genelia that we need intelligent film-makers. That thought actually belongs to the Director and his camp. I don't know what they consider to be intelligent film-making but certainly they are thinking that their movie is one such example. For which I want to tell them that just about any story with certain color added can be shown to people and get appreciated. And there can be as many stories as big human population as each one of us have a different story, but a real story is one which inspires good things in others and adds meaning to life. You must strive to make such films, my dear.
Love Story 2050 (2008)
Watch for the sake of their efforts!
Actually I haven't watched the movie but I want to watch it just for the sake of the effort that had been put. Just imagine people making movie with so much effort and money & those newcomers having their dreams associated with it and you declare it to be unfit for 3 hours worth our time. I think, when I managed to sit three hours for some of the most idiotic movies like Jhoom barabar Jhoom and likes, I think this would at least be much better. Those news channels have got nothing better to do and for their half-an-hour shows, they are willing to spoil someone else's party for apparently no big favor to us.
Try the movie for you might like it!!!
Race (2008)
Movie with lots of twists and finally Director lost in his own plot
I am just from the movie. May be they had spent a lot on the movie, but the movie was just OK, nothing special about it. So many twists that your head keeps turning. Elderly people will not like such twists. Finally I think that the Director's head got twisted in his own plot and at the end he makes a big mistake. In the end, they speak of $200 million for two brothers' combined insurance payment, but the insurance payment for the death of elder brother was already made to smaller brother and of that, 25% is eaten by the COP, so where comes the question of a second time payment for the elder. This time they would only get $100 Million. Next time you make such twisty movie make sure everything is in tune with it.
Jodhaa Akbar (2008)
Hrithik is exceptional! Listen to me Hrithik
I liked acting, songs, direction and flow of story. The movie was very good and other comments already tell that. But it was so good because of some very good acting by Hrithik(also Rai). I am really impressed by his acting in this movie. This tells me how versatile he is. But I was wondering how good can he be in a very violent role(unlike Akbar) like that of Asoka.
Hrithik, when you are loved so much in Bollywood, then why do you want to go to Hollywood? There is nothing there. Please reject Hollywood completely and maintain your dignity and also the dignity of people who admire you. May you live long, Hrithik.
Malgudi Days (1986)
An excellent series
It was one of the gems produced by Doordarshan when there was no other channel. Actually, I think(not sure) was like 6-7 years old when I used to watch this serial in Doordarshan, so obviously I don't remember anything about it except the only fact that I liked it then very much. I like the tune also. It lived an impression in my mind. It was a collection of episodes of everyday activities of ordinary people but was touching. Now I want to relive it and thats why I look forward to buying the DVD and may be book also. Watch it and if you have taste for light moments where actually lot of knowledge resides, then you will like it for sure.

A could-have-been -better-film
I thought world can never go wrong in deciding a film. Well this time, people have gone somewhat wrong. I watched the despite all the warnings given by my friends and I found the movie to be good. Because I went to the theater with a negative mind, I was waiting that when would this movie go wrong as described by reviews. But to my surprise, it was not until the end that I felt displeasure.
For me, the movie was just like the whistle that Ranbir blew in the movie. It starts out very well defined but its ending is just not clear (isn't it?). Till the end Sonam was so faithful to her lover but right at the end she seems to have been loving Ranbir, which I didn't like. I thought it could have been much better if the director tried to show her love towards Ranbir as her acceptance due to his devotion and not because Salman has not come. And then leave with Salman after he returns. After all, a girl's feeling should be given more importance.
For acting- I like the Old Lady, her dialogs and her expressions. Ranbir and Sonam were both excellent. Rani was also good in her side role.
Songs were dull and slow when I heard them in my car but when I saw them in the movie I liked them very very much.
I cut a point for Ranbir's towel misadventure. I didn't knew about it before I went to the movie and when he was flashing it, I thought he cannot drop that but to my fear he actually did. I felt ashamed. That was not at all required in the movie and I wonder how his parents let him do it.
Now the director, I can see that director was playing very safe by showing a dream city and shooting only night scenes. I understand that love is more beautiful in night and dreamy places, but if love is great what is day and what is night? So, instead of taking the pain to be creative and show beautiful love even in day and real world environment, director played safe and avoided. Aim was also not clear on his part. They were trying only to make a good movie not a great movie within safe boundaries.
And lastly, I liked the way in which Sonam keeps speaking of Id. Whenever she speaks of preparations for Id, I felt how beautiful any festival is and its beauty lies in the people's preparation. I see that such essence of a festival is now all lost.
Watch it!
