Flip or Flop (2013)
An Hour of Your Life You Cannot Get Back
I think many people have said it perfectly here. They are vapid, fake people at best.
The show is scripted so that even the most unassuming people can tell that it isn't real.
Tarek and Christina both have voices that make you want to start jabbing sharp objects in your ears.
In order to capture some of the charm of Fixer Upper, Tarek has started to act (and I mean act) like he is excited about demolition day. Every time you can tell that he is as excited about demolition day as a person would be about a full body cavity search.
Neither of them have the slightest charm. It is obvious she hasn't designed one thing that goes into these homes and doesn't care that we know it. She does nothing to illicit any excitement.
Don't waste your time. Just pray that TLC will wise up and put something better in this wretched show's place.
Presque rien (2000)
Fantastic until...
Presque rien is a great movie until you must endure the ending.
SPOILER ALERT: The two leads do a wonderful job of interpreting their characters. Mathieu is conflicted, troubled and longing. Cedric is unabashed and open but harbors pain underneath caused by the dysfunction of his past. They approach their parts with great skill and passion.
Many comments have said that the supporting characters add nothing to the furtherance of the movie, but I disagree. I feel that the supporting characters define the emotions seen in both the lead boys. You can tell why the boys are the way they are emotionally because of their relationships outside their own.
The movie does jump between timelines, but not to the point of confusion if you are willing to pay attention and not just be fed each arch in the story.
My problem stems from the ending. The boys break off their relationship. Ok, fine. Mathieu checks into a mental hospital. Again, fine. But. .why?
There is nothing that says that a person must be fed every bit of information to draw a conclusion, but the breakup and the hospital stay are just unexplainable. You can guess as to why both happened, but you don't have any sense of accuracy when you do indeed conjecture as to why.
So much explanation and story is put into the development of the boys falling in love and the reason they are so good for each other. So when they are suddenly not together, you feel as if you have been cheated when it comes to these characters with whom you have grown attached. It made a great movie experience for me come to a screeching halt.
Would I recommend this movie? Conditionally, yes. Just know that you may feel disappointed with the way things conclude.
Space Fury (1999)
P U
This movie is the worst movie I have ever seen and I've seen Battlefield Earth.
At best the acting was horrible. The editing was choppy and incoherent. The special effects were great if the movie would have been made in 1972.
There was one good thing about the movie, however... ...it ended!
