The Little Mermaid (2023)
Wholesome kid's movie
I see a lot of pressed adults getting mad that they aren't the target demographic. This was a great kid's movie.
My 11yo daughter and her friend loved it. I liked it waaaay more than I expected. Her friend knows the original and found it fun to see how it came to life. Bonus realization: kids don't care about color nearly as much as adults.
Halle's singing was great and she was true to the original Ariel's demeanor (which was bland to start with if y'all forgot).
I didn't mind any of the changes, but wasn't on the hunt for them either.
Was actually glad to not see Les Poissons so I didn't have to convince my daughter to please just eat seafood for now on -- I promise it's not Flounder.
One addition I really appreciated was the song that described how it would be for someone who's never been on land to realistically react and adjust to all the new sensations.
Triton treading water above the surface at the end was accidentally hilarious. Probably the only thing that bumped me out of the movie.
Overall, it was a million times better than the Aladdin remake.

Sad, swoon-worthy, satisfying
I am honestly baffled by the low reviews for this show. It had me in tears one minute, then laughing the next.
The central themes of it are about death, suffering, and the human condition, but it is handled in a way that is not wallowing in self-pity. Each episode touches on this in the midst of the romance and the humor, and reminds us that there is light and happiness even during difficult times.
I've seen some exceptionally weird comments saying the two leads had no reason to fall in love beyond being attractive. For me, it was quite clear how and why they come to appreciate and love each other, appreciate each other, and how their love lifted one another up.
I am very picky about what I watch these days. Most kdramas are a Did Not Finish for me because they lose their focus. I binge-watched this one and was left with serious finale hangover afterward. I literally did not know what to do with myself when it ended.
The Late Late Show with James Corden (2015)
BTS ARMY FOR JAMES CORDEN
The hysteria from toxic Twitter ARMY is not representative of the entire fandom.
Keep doing what you do, James. We all know it was a joke and obvious sarcasm.
The joke about a 15 year old wanting to be an old dude was clearly only an example of how preposterous the idea would be.
This is why the world thinks ARMY are a bunch of children and why a lot of fans stay clear of the hive mind collective.
