Workin' Moms (2017)
Amazing show
This show took me by surprise! I only started watching it in the background because I wanted something light. It got my attention pretty fast and it made me laugh. The script is really smart and witty. Quality is consistent and even though some episodes were lesser than others, like everything is has a continuous flowing energy and storytelling drama that pulled me back to continue until the end. I can't wait for s. 7! I think the strong suit of this show is a combination of smart script with great sense of humour but also incredible acting. I actually think the first episodes were weakest of the show, I got really hooked mid season 1.
Liar (2017)
Men in the reviews
I noticed the reviewers here are all by men who are upset by the fact that men are rapists. Sorry to break this to you but you need to take responsibility over your own a actions and behaviour if you want to see less of this. Women deserve to be treated with respect as humans and women thankfully are speaking up for the evils that men do to them. This show portrays a realistic event although it isn't a perfect show. If you are a man who is not a rapist, you're going to support the pain and fight for women. Otherwise you're just enabling. And sense I have to write 600 characters I will also say that the acting was decent and the main actress is very good from Downton Abbey and she is great.
Don't Worry Darling (2022)
A redo of already done movies
This is truly style over substance. I absolutely love the idea and a mirror to men's patriarch abusive and controlling world, those are all true and worth focusing on to make an actual change. However I think the big downfall if this movie though is the unoriginality script and story because it feels from the start something that we have seen so many times before and the mystery was too obvious. What is a mystery if there's no mystery? Isn't it obvious that they live in a false reality that someone created? Why are we bothered to watch it all way throughout to find out what we already knew? In addition, the music is just really annoying and repeatedly cut out of every recent American weird thrillers style, Hollywood is recycling even their own soundtrack (the tensed breathing style sounds). A very unsatisfactory experience.
Heojil kyolshim (2022)
Delightful experience
Korean cinema golden age hits again! I had no idea what this is about and what to expect and I am happy I had zero expectations. It was absolutely amazing from start to finish, unsolved mystery and emotional detachment intertwined with romantic infatuation between the two main characters. Their relationship evolved around self destruction and unfulfilled desire. The filmography was spectacular and the script had a great pace and the odd inappropriate jokes that made the audience chug. Thought a whopping 2+ hours which have become the norm today, I didn't notice the length and enjoyed the film throughout. Excellent camera work, excellent writing and acting.
Luckiest Girl Alive (2022)
Strong movie
I wasn't expecting such a strong film about sexual assault. Kunis was very good with the version of adult Ani. The way the movie handled the situation at school and how parents and boys handle rape is palpable in the ways the girl was blamed for what they did and could never come forward, suffering the results of this trauma as an adult. It was very realistic and hard to watch, the movie didn't shy from the ugliness of how women and girls are treated. I do hope that watching this can being some awareness to sexual assaults topic especially in schools and by youngsters. Overall a very interesting film and well made. An important movie to watch.
The Watcher (2022)
Messy and boring
What started off strong and inclusive of strong characters and actors have quickly turned into a hot mess. Too many stories intertwined and implausible characters and behaviours, throw the watcher (pawn intended) into a loss of the plot and interest. At some point into ep. 3 it feels like style took over storytelling and camera works focusing on characters faces did not make sense with the actual story. The plot kept on going back to history of the house with new characters and stories , all basically the same and all somewhat insane. After 1-2 repeats I myself have lost interest in those stories and their agendas (whatever it is) and just let it run in the background because Watts is worth watching after and despite all.
The Resident (2018)
Great show
I love this series until season 5 and then it had a less good half season due to key characters leaving. However thankfully it was saved later on . Seasons 1-4 are alot of fun, different from other med dramas in the sense that it evolved around health businesses and the scheming of powerful rich people with financial political power. It was really refreshing to see in a medical drama and interesting to have a perspective.
Season 5 had setbacks however getting back to its magic with great new doctors and stories. I don't know what other reviews meant by it getting "political", there is nothing about politics, its a medical drama. Great show.
Prey (2022)
Excellent
40 mins to get to the real action. Start was a bit weak but worth sticking around. I liked the idea and concept, beautiful visuals. I appreciated the natives backdrop and young girl who wants to be a hunter.
The action was top notch and very scary to be honest, gory even.
Predator itself was extremely well made.
I wish there was less CGI with animals. Overall a fun watch.
SEAL Team (2017)
Excellent show
Give it more than 1-2 episodes because it takes time to get into it. It isn't only mindless action, characters have depth and the plot is interesting, some episodes feel like a whole movie which is really nice.
Succession (2018)
Best show on Tv Right now
It's been years since we've seen such a high quality script and acting, I dare to say since The Good Wife. This is a masterpiece of writing. Characters are 3d and have multiple faces.
T11 Incomplete (2020)
Surprisingly decent
The low score deterred me but I gave it a chance and glad I did, it is actually a nice film, I gave an 8 to balance it out but more like7/10. The acting was good, and the script was good too. Higher budget and better filmography would've helped but I guess they didn't have it.
Elvis (2022)
Sad depiction and depressing
I was surprised that the movie was actually really sad. It focused 100% on the relationship between Elvis and his manager with everything else being a sideline, including the music. My disappointment is that the music was really not a focus, for an icon musician, I wished to see a bit more of writing and songs meanings . However in the end, Elvis indeed was a perfomer I suppose more than anything. The cast was great and Hanks was masterful. I know everyone praise Elvis actor but to me the real star was Hanks as the Colonel. In fact, I will the minority to say that, I think Butler was not necessarily the best fit although he did well. Just my opinion though. The story was truly sad and ended feeling bitter, thinking forever of Elvis as a cash cow in Vegas.
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
The best of the World Series
Look, obviously this isn't Jurassic Park, that ship has sailed and no one can claim the original. However I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually very enjoyable and I think some scenes were very intense and fun, alot of old Jurassic Park memory lane moments, and I have to mention some scenes definitely reminisce Alien. It isn't an amazing movie, not original, but what can I say, I had fun, laughed, didn't fall asleep, enjoyed every moment.
Stranger Things (2016)
Not consistent quality
Seasons 1-2 were fantastic and a breath of fresh 80s in our lives. Really Stephen Kingy kids gang style that we all love. Unfortunately season 3 was unwatchable. Haven't watched season 4 yet, but I would say season 3 should be skipped all together, it is a complete mess.
The Bold Type (2017)
Fantastic show
I gave it 9 to raise the low score but it is definitely an 8/10. Great show to my surprise it got me hooked and has a lot of good moments of relationship struggles in the modern age, women's health (breasts) and career. I think it would be appreciated by millennials and definitely not someone who only likes old school shows and characters.
World's Biggest Great White Shark (2019)
Nice viewing
It seemed funny when something really dramatic happens and the people explaining are so uneventful and relaxed, not synced with the music that is really stressful. "Shark bit the boat and we're sinking..." said in relaxed voice. No biggy.
Gold (2022)
Not great
There is potential but what got me from the start is the stupid dialogue. Felt forced and stale. Mostly the dialogue from Efron was really just stale and made no sense at times.
I also tried to understand why writings in Arabic are throughout the land and signs, not much explanation on the backdrop.
However the story was really interesting. It can get intense at times. The worse part was-
The ending was stupid! Honestly, just not worth it.
Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things (2015)
Love the idea
Trainspotting? Consumerism makes us anxious, a chase for stuff, bigger tv, more furniture, more shoes, more cars, bigger house... on and on. Mortgage slaves. The thing that was missing is those guys made it all about them and they didn't make much sense, felt like they're trying to sell their books and not really saying anything new. They live in big houses that are unfurnished? I didn't really get the sense of what they're advocating. Would be better if they focused on the movie and less themselves.
The Boys (2019)
Horrible show
Men seem to like it, female insults seem to pass them. Show is mysoginistic and cringy, vulgar and honestly not that interesting . I wish they had more respect to female characters because it could be a very refreshing take on superheroes.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Not for everyone
Know what to expect...the idea is great and wonderful but the practical filmography and scenes that were VERY out there and extravagant is not for everyone. Personally to me it was too much, and I enjoyed some parts but would not necessarily watch it again or recommend.
Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce (2014)
This show is amazing
Don't believe the bad reviews. It's full of brilliant actors, great stories and very real relationships between people, complex and honest. It also really funny and entertaining.
The Lincoln Lawyer (2022)
Not good casting
The lead lacks charisma and it shows immediately, it is a bit cringy. Never Campbell is incredible as always and for now she is the reason to keep watching. Also good supporting cast. The story might work if the lead gets some acting skills.
Friday Night Lights (2006)
One of the best dramas
Really excellent show that gets in your heart. 1st episode didn't get me immediately but I am so glad I stuck around. Many years after it aired, feels as good as ever. Texas forever!
See for Me (2021)
Good ideas, poor acting
I had to stop midway because Sophie is an obnoxious and rude person! It makes me cringe. Who would be so rude and gross to everyone??
Movie is interesting and has really good ideas, but the main actress is really rude. That actually disturbed me a lot and distracted from me the plot.
Eating Our Way to Extinction (2021)
Honestly... amazing
Ok, there is just no way you watch this and want to eat again fish and meat... I was just disgusted. We don't really know what we eat do we?
Also, Kare Winslet. Wonderful narrator. Beautiful scenes shot and beautifully filmed and edited. A film that really changed my view on thing I wasn't aware of.
