This wasn't that Merry
20 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
*Siiighs* I just don't know what to say about this one. The other three were bearable to watch, this one made me end it after the archery contest scene... I like a good Robin Hood plot but this was sort of insulting which is why the writing is pretty low.

The acting was fine, no need to explain more about it.

The characters... Felt boring. I only enjoyed Tom and Jerry because why not? They are a comical duo. The Sheriff who helps Prince John is also a great villain. Prince John to me was too, too childish and his dialogue was just awkwardly bad. I was going to give Robin Hood a character point but the way he was acting about Maid Marion was pretty bad, too. Down bad levels.

The music was nice, I will give it that. Overall, this movie I just can't get into and I don't recommend it.

Not too bad of a Sherlock Holmes crossover but...
1 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Okay so Tom and Jerry Meet Sherlock Holmes. Second Spike Brandt film. I enjoyed it more than the last movie he made with Joseph Barbera. The plot is pretty self explanatory; A mysterious jewel thief and his gang steal the treasures around the Scotland Yard. Red is framed for the crime and it is up to Tom and Jerry to solve the case. Your typical mystery to be fair but again, enjoyable to watch.

No need to talk about the quality because it is the same as the first film. At this point, I won't mention quality too much unless I see errors.

The writing, not too bad. The setting in the beginning started off good and then it got a lot better throughout the film. The acting with it makes you sit in your seat more, pretty much reading a mystery novel of Sherlock Holmes only it has comedy.

Unfortunately... I only have a few characters I enjoyed in the film. Red, gotta admit, sexy character and I love her singing. Jerry is pretty much likable throughout the movie. His wits and his crime solving pretty much put the pieces of the puzzle within the movie together rather than being a mess of just constant cat and mouse chase. The villain, Professor Moriarty was wicked like, I love his design and his invention that would allow him to shoot voltage beams at his foes and his master plans- I won't spoil but pretty much let you decide on it.

Soundtrack- eh, I think one or two background instrumentals were okay and Red's song is catchy but the second time- not much.

Furthermore, this movie is a solid 50 like I think it is okay. You like Sherlock Holmes and Tom and Jerry, then this is the movie for you.

A typical but fun Nutcracker story
23 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I have seen this movie many times. Back then, it was a fun holiday movie. In retrospect, yeah, fun but it just wasn't the best work for Spike Brandt. He has worked on many of the direct-to-video animated Tom and Jerry movies. This one is his first Tom and Jerry movie. Sometimes, movies like this can be good and can be bad. It's just near a meh film to me. But I will note that this movie was the last animated production by Joseph Barbera before he died. This film is dedicated to his memory. I will say it is a thoughtful start for a film like this but again- I just never felt too engaged with it much.

The plot is basically The Nutcracker and the Mouse King story. Pretty much it but with a twist; Jerry and his pal Tuffy are pulled into the Nutcracker play and the toys come to life with Christmas magic. Meanwhile, the cats and their Cat King take over the Kingdom of the Toys. It is up to Jerry, Tuffy, and their new friends Paulie and Nelly to save the kingdom and the Ballerina from the Cat King and his cat army. As I said with the plot, it is your basic Nutcracker story.

The quality of the film is not too bad. I enjoy the animation. The art style of the characters is cute. It gives me a Disney and Looney Tunes look to it. It's unique but it has its flaws to be honest.

The writing for the entirety of the animated film, it's okay. The setting through the story is not too bad and it has its moments where it is magical to watch. The scene with the dragons and the fairy fire dancers was beautiful. The Nutcracker world opened up new horizons when the characters were blasted far away from the Toy Kingdom. I didn't mind The Toy Maker quest for the characters to set out on. Overall, there are only very few moments that I enjoyed.

The acting? Eh, it is fine. What's more to say?

The characters, I favor a few over the rest. A lot weren't interesting to care for. A heart warming but short development with one was Nelly the Toy Pony. The Toy Maker is your typical Santa Claus but it was nice to see him. I guess the last character I enjoyed was the Cat King because of his song and his tyrannical, stupid nature.

Speaking of the songs, I enjoyed the soundtrack of the movie. It is better than the rest of the film entirely. I enjoyed the Nutcracker instrumentals and the vocal soundtrack with the cats.

Furthermore, I guess for people who enjoy holiday films, I recommend a watch. Personally, I rather watch it once or twice and be done with it.

Hopping down memory trail
17 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
And here I thought that this movie was a fever dream, Lol! I bet most people had this stuck in their subconscious somewhere deep because this movie is obscured. I decided to watch it again on Easter. I think I saw this when the movie was released on Cartoon Network- 2005 so it was a long time ago.

After watching it, my thoughts on it changed. The CGI is complete garbage. It reminds me of Casper's Scare School types of level CGI. So yeah, the CGI is terrible. The characters look like their eyes are bulging out of their eye sockets like they are in space suffocating without oxygen.

Speaking of the characters, they look ugly. I don't know what else to say. The big eyes and modeling of them look off putting.

The good thing about this movie is that I found voice actors that I know quite well. Christopher Llyod and Tom Kenny. I thought a few characters were likable like Junior Cottontail, Iron Tail, and Jackie Frost. The songs were enjoyable while one is a bop called "Ice Life" sung by Jackie Frost. Finally, the plot was decent. I hate to go through the whole plot so I will keep it short. Jackie Frost wants to make Winter eternal so with Iron Tail making a return, he wants revenge against Peter Cottontail for taking the role of the Easter Bunny that Iron wanted to be. The two work together to steal all of the seasons of Spring, Summer, and Fall. It is up to Peter's son, Junior and his friends to save the seasons and restore balance. So yeah, the plot isn't too bad. It's either decent or okay.

Overall, this movie is cute and fun for the family to enjoy on Easter.

The Puppies go on a lawsuit spooky adventure
23 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The reviews weren't kidding. I freaking remember this movie when I was young and revisiting it again was my biggest mistake because I knew everything about the damn plot but I wanted to be on point about it! This movie is directly stealing a lot of material from mainly Hocus Pocus and Earnest Scared Stupid. I really hate the CGI puppy throughout half the film. It is so uncanny and it does not fit in with the live action. There is not much to say about this movie, I am serious! Like, you can easily point out the same scenarios that this movie is using on the two movies I just mentioned. The only thing I found hilarious about this film was Hoot the Owl turning to stone as he falls like one of those rubber creature toys you get at a dollar store and Budderball's fart counter attacking the demon hound's stony breath like Goku's Kaioken Kamehameha blasting down Vegeta's Galick Gun XDDDDDD.

You dream of a comeback only for it to be a nightmare
8 October 2021
I know this wouldn't be much of a review if I just said it was okay, plain and simple. This movie could have had potential if it was just fleshed out, executed better, and the casting choice could have been changed... In this movie, they just look absolutely depressed, edgy- call them The Emo Kids on Elm Street. They had no emotions in their character other than feeling traumatized, confused, and angry. Also, the characters are out of place and some are new that we don't even know who they even are! That is my only problem with this movie, well, another problem is that they made Freddy Krueger waaay too messed up as well! I know that the movie was trying to lean towards the darker side of Freddy in the remake, that is what I am seeing out of it but no... They utterly made his character even more sick and twisted. He doesn't even shoot any funny one liners like Robert England's version of Freddy does during his kills.

I will only give this movie credit on special effects, I guess however, Jackie Earle Hayley did do well for scary meters but as I said, he just could not pull the dark comedic Freddy that we all knew and loved. If I were you, this movie is only good if you are bored and want to watch the whole franchise of A Nightmare On Elm Street. Other than that, if you are a long time fan of Freddy Krueger, a lot of others would probably say to stay away from this film. It could not stay true to the original...

The song slaps but the short is a slap in the face
27 September 2021
It was the 1940s, what do you expect? Cartoons and art back in the time were portraying races based on how their actions and appearances, especially appearances were! But did they have to really look like that?! No! It was offensive, yes and I really did not enjoy the visuals. By visuals I mean how the characters were drawn and the animation. I will admit, seeing every stereotype in this cartoon will either give you a chuckle or just make you want to throw your computer mouse at the screen in rage. So this cartoon isn't for the sensitive types. I will point out that the quality during the time looked choppy and lazy. To be fairly honest, did this cartoon need to be made?! It was a big "F" you to the audience.

Though, the only thing I found enjoyable in this cartoon was the song "Scrub me Mama with a Boogie Beat" performed by The Andrew Sisters and the orchestra has amazing rhythm conducted by Will Bradley.

Out of Nowhere enjoyable
21 September 2021
I was very hyped for this movie and I definitely expected it to be good. It was a fun, entertaining film. A Courage and Scooby crossover was actually a creative idea and their biggest one so far. The film's animation was very impressive, seeing that Courage's world was darker and brighter than the series of Courage (Though, the original had more atmosphere to the tone of the show). With Scooby's animation here blending with it, makes the characters more popped out and the setting itself. The cast of the film did great with their respective roles despite it being awkward in some moments with characters interacting with one another. There are three songs in the film and trust me, they are good to one being out of nowhere (PUN)! There are Easter Eggs in a few scenes, so pay close attention to them. Also, you are going to enjoy the freaking plot twists in it and more insight on Courage's home.

My only problem with the film was that the very beginning was forced. Now, I know that when it comes to a Scooby-Doo film, you just want to get to the point but it was kind of fast paced. They should have taken the beginning scene slowly for the characters to meet. Basically, for the whole run time, they just had to make filler with the characters which at least we could see what they are up to but some scenes weren't really needed. The whole plot of the film is trying to solve the mystery of the mutant cicadas and why they are invading the farm where Courage and his family lives, not adding unnecessary scenes but that is a cartoon film for ya.

Overall, I enjoyed this movie. If any of you are a fan of Courage the Cowardly Dog and Scooby-Doo, then this is a perfect film for you and the family to watch. It will really bring nostalgia to the heart.

Candyman (2021)

Candyman makes the movie solid good
17 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I just went to my local movie theater yesterday to see Candyman (2021). I must say, I actually enjoyed watching the film. Its focus on art and using that art to tell a story grabbed my attention. I enjoyed the main protagonist and his friends, they were very entertaining to watch. As we all saw in the trailer, the art that was used to tell a story was puppetry in which it shows darkness, a light illuminating the background to make the paper puppets glow. Now note that you should pay attention to the puppetry all the way through even the ending credits so you would understand the story more. It will really leave you with questions while some already answered for you. The scenes I will say are intense, there are plenty of kills in it.

I will say at least one flaw with the movie is the story telling. I won't say that it was executed poorly. It was just confusing between how the lore was told and the Candyman you see in the movie is not the one from the very past who died, you know the original. My theory is maybe a chosen man who dies tragically by some event, their soul seeks vengeance and thus, they become the very entity that people fear. But on the subject of this here, why didn't all the other Candymen show up to kill? I am lost on that... Also, everyone had some death wish, saying his name so many freaking times! Another scene that throws me off is why the hell was Anthony's girlfriend dreaming of her dad jumping off the building?! It made no lick of sense!

Overall, I say this is an okay horror film to watch, recommended in the dark! Once you watch the film, you'll be fearing the name and mirrors. Also, it is best to watch Candyman (1992) first so you can understand this movie. Trust me, it will make a lot more sense. 1992 however is a lot better than this sequel.

If you want legit stupid dino flick, here is one that pulled it
11 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Pros: 1. It is stupidly funny to see a pastor become a dinosaur.

2. It has Voltaire in it! Like, holy cow! The Singer of the Dead shows his glory and face into this B flick!

3. The acting was great between Alyssa Kempinski as Carol and Greg Cohan as Doug Jones.

Cons: 1. The props are terrible. It's like watching a school play.

2. Scenes kept jumping and the cameraman from how it was shot was like disoriented shooting the film- The movie is bizarre as we speak.

3. The story was pushed fast, basically rushed and it can be confusing in the beginning.

4. Why ninjas? :/

The Velocipastor was something that once again, my friends and I watched on voice call on my server. I was having a heavy debate on watching it but my friends kept saying "This is great, you should totally watch with us!" I figured, sure! Why not I got nothing better to do besides just staring at a blank computer screen with the stream button on hold. And so, that is where the journey to the Great Valley starts.

The Velocipastor was a sight to behold! Like, I shat you not (Saw what I did there? XD), this movie was the lowest budget film ever to be made and produced! A $35,000.00 dollar budget to be precise and it was as low as it is with the special effects and props they had. It was a very corny movie. To have a plot centered around a pastor who gets this mysterious power from some artifact that can transform him into a dinosaur?! This is a far better transformation cringe than the werewolf one in The Boy Who Cried Werewolf- except in that movie, they tried their damn well best to make it good. The Velocipastor was made to make it as cheesy as possible with the plot and effects.

Throughout the whole thing, seeing a hooker and a priest have sexual feelings with each other felt like a Twilight movie going on except the hooker named Carol was a saint rather than Bella. Infact, this movie makes a better love story than Twilight.

What was surprising is that they got Voltaire, the singer known in The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, played as Altair who was another priest who was trying to exorcise the demonic BC reptile out of the holy protagonist's body.

The ninja plot though like I have to ask why? Was it really necessary to add Mighty Morphin Ninja Anti-Rangers into the mix? The main antagonist's plans are kinda far fetched and weak.

The story felt like it had a mind of its own and the director just went along with it. He wrote it to either make it legit or just a story idea he thought of and throw it to the audience to judge it- I think both.

Brendan Steere truly made a divine masterpiece that dug its way through the stone era and hit the heavens above to make such an absurd gateway plot for everyone to enjoy. Do I recommend this? Well, yeah and no. It is a mix for me. Personally, I watch it with friends and make fun of it. We will forever know that the greatest scenes in the movie was between the ninjas VS a poor realistic Barney costume and the picture of Anne Frank in the Vietnam flashback, LMFAO!

Movie Rating: 3.9/10 A movie to watch when you are bored and want to laugh at something stupid.

Why was this even made?
30 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I have seen a lot of Scooby-Doo Movies and seeing my childhood movie "Zombie Island" having a comeback of a sequel, interested me but then I go and watch it, it kind of just made me frown at the whole thing. This was a whole cash grab to the original and they wanted to pretty much try to make another story out of it. I can get creativity but I just can't like it.

To remember how the plot went, this is what I know: The plot centers around the gang needing a vacation because they are worked up on wanting to constantly solve mysteries and Shaggy and Scooby forbid them to stop thinking about it. Shaggy wins a vacation to Moonscar Island by Elvira. The gang go there and pretty much it is self explanatory from here. They relax, feel something is off, then do a mystery, then find out that the people at the resort are actors.

Was there even humanoid cats?! NO! Well, between the fake ones wanting to rob the island of its treasure and the mysterious one, that is it in the movie. Further in point, don't try this. It was a waste of time for me! I thought that it would be good but it was not. This was actually a 5 out of 10 for goodness sake! I was hoping to see at least a 3 out of 10 but I guess most enjoyed it. Maybe it was cheesy stupid funny.

Freddy's Nightmares (1988–1990)
3/10
My nightmare is wasting time and money
29 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I am a huge ANOES fan and buying every movie of the franchise was a blast! Even watching it! But buying the episodes on DVD brought me nothing but disappointment. I was expecting a lot of horror in it but it feels like I am watching Tales from the Crypt and Goosebumps. (Which I love Goosebumps), just seeing the episodes reminded me on how cheesy they can be that you can't even follow it or you are left confused. This is basically Freddy's Nightmares for ya.

When I popped the first disk into my DVD player, I watched the first episode which I followed it well. The rest of the 4 episodes of season 1, I had to stop. I was 1, getting bored to the point of falling asleep. LITERALLY! 2, you don't see much of FREDDY! He is the main star! But no, he isn't. He is basically the Crypt Keeper; Being the host of the show by doing interludes. From time to time, he may show up as an episode's plot or intervene in dreams of it but he is just a host. I had to stop after episode 5 because I just couldn't sit there and suffer the dreams anymore! I don't know if I want to come back and watch it again because I am losing interest on it.

It is all but an anthology series. The plot revolves around Freddy haunting the rest of the Elm Street children for a good 2 seasons. That is it. Do I recommend it? Eh, not really to be honest but if you are a long time fan and are interested in the series, knock yourself out.
