Industry (2020)
Everyone is odious
It's rare that you watch a series where every character is deeply revolting. No one has any redeeming qualities. Harper is hideous and I'm not sure why she is the main character.
This series seems to have been written purely for titillation or shock value. But that has been done many times over by much better tv shows.
I'm not sure what the appeal is of this series, maybe it's just the nudity and sex; if you want that, you may as well watch porn and not waste your time.
The storylines are dull and the constant drug taking is incredibly boring. I really do not understand the appeal, unless maybe you're a coked up city boy.
Belfast (2021)
Disappointing
I was distracted by the 20 year age gap between Hinds & Dench which made them unrealistic as a couple. A shame as Hinds is superb. The other poor casting choice was the 2 supposed Protestant thugs. They came across as contrived and like comedy villains. Was this deliberate?
I also hated the singing & dancing scenes with the parents. Unnecessary.
I understand the film is meant to be from the pov of a child, but I don't think that was an excuse to erase the amount of fear & violence. I also didn't understand why the streets looked too much like a set. Was this because things are meant to look better through child's eyes?
Such a shame as I was looking forward to watching this. Maybe I expected more of a realistic view rather than edited history.
The Lazarus Project (2022)
Fantastic team in front of & behind the camera
The casting director has done a great job, particularly with the actors who play Ross, Shiv, Archie and Janet; who you end up being more interested in than George & Sarah, who are good, to be fair, but their storyline didn't interest me as much. Great concept, but the storylines taking place in 2018 were of more interest to me and I wish the series had been focused on Ross and Archie instead; who knows if this will be explored more in a second season?
