Spriggan (2022)
Interesting, very thematic
Never heard of the original manga or the movie, I saw this is in my spotlight so I decided to check it out and It's actually pretty good. It's a little predictable at times and sometimes I wish the characters weren't giving speeches every 10 mins, but the plot is interesting, animation is good, voice acting is amazing and I like the soundtrack. Also, It's deals with a lot of themes and philosophies in each episode, which I think is one of the more interesting parts of the series.
You should check it out.
Stranger Things: Chapter One: The Hellfire Club (2022)
An okay start.
New beginnings for everyone yah dah yah dah yah dah... This episode was entertaining but it has a few flaws that I'm concern might just get worse from here. It's pretty cliche, sometimes predictable, the dialogue gets corny and choppy a few times and while I liked a couple of the scenes and sequences, some just didn't hit.
I get it that the show can't recreate the magic of the first and second season, but I really hope we aren't seeing the decline of a pretty great series.
P. S., sweet ending.
F Is for Family: Come to Papa (2020)
Therapy
Frank buys an expensive crib at Sue's demand but hates that he has to fix it up himself. So his dad comes and helps him. Frank leaves the task up to his dad and together they have this weird spontaneous therapy session where he grumbles and gripes about what's eating him this week. It's basically everything.
It's a nice, sorta wholesome episode. The family all share the screen and have their own developments. And for once the season, Frank doesn't hate his dad.
Atlanta: New Jazz (2022)
"Woods" pt. II (Amsterdam Edition)
Paper Boi trips with Darius on a weird drug, gets lost and meets a annoying and spontaneous yet insightful woman who keeps messing with him. Oh, and there's a weird ass cameo.
It's a good episode.
Atlanta: White Fashion (2022)
Eh...
The commentary is too obvious for a clever show like Atlanta, it felt like they were preaching at me. The absurd plot doesn't really work here, in my opinion. As always, the acting is great. I liked Darius's small adventure.
This season has kinda been lacking. I don't know man, it feels like something that would have come out in that weird ass George Floyd-era mediascape.
Don't Be a DICK! (2020)
It gets pretty interesting...then it ends.
Don't Be A Dick is a cool short about society's perceptions of the penis. It's interesting, charming and informative. With that being said, I do wish it dived even deeper into the subject. It's ended like 10 minutes than it should have.
Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Adventure (2022)
An Enjoyable Nostalgia-fest
Nostalgia plays a huge role in how much you enjoy this movie, more than half of the it is spent detailing and showcasing how life was like in for a kid in 1969 Houston, Texas suburbia.
The movie is innocent, colorful and charming, it might not be particularly substantial but it's a feel-good movie, you can't hate it.
Atlanta: The Old Man and the Tree (2022)
Going to rich parties and meeting weirdos
Hilariously absurd or absurdly hilarious. We're back on track-mixing dark comedy, drama, and philosophy in grounded 30-minute episode. Feels like only 'Atlanta' can pull something like this.
Atlanta: Three Slaps (2022)
Get Out...but with lesbians.
This episode felt like a really bad, racially-charged, dream-but I guess that was all the point. Good episode, not sure I like it as the season opener though.
Euphoria: You Who Cannot See, Think of Those Who Can (2022)
God, this show is out of touch.
This show is probably one of the most dangerous TV show ever conceived. The first season was entertaining. Yeah it was unrealistic, the dialogue was choppy, plot lines were dumb and sex, nudity violence and drug abuse were excessive and glamorized, but it was strangely entertaining. Then 2nd season rolls out and the only thing I have to say after every episode I've watched so far is "this is out of touch". Everything bad about the show is stretched to the max in this 2nd season and after every episode you wonder "how the hell did this ever get greenlit?". The only good scene in this episode was the hug between Rue and Labyrinth and that's not even close.
Dune (2021)
One weird-ass movie
Dune is very flawed but, it's grand cinematography and scope overshadows them.
I had a few issues with the movie, I've read the book and was looking forward to this and I think what disappointed me the most was the lack of character development and emotional depth. I think the main leads did a good job in their roles- Oscar Isaac and Rebecca Ferguson especially.
Anyways, it's a weird movie adapted from an even weirder novel but I enjoyed it.
Rick and Morty: Amortycan Grickfitti (2021)
Pretty Solid
The past 3 episodes were pretty lackluster and just "what the actual hell?" but this might be one of the good episodes yet, obviously has a couple issues but still solid in my opinion.
