The Wrong Missy (2020)
I laughed out loud, I don't do that anymore.
I'm middle aged, I've watched a lot of comedies. All the shock and vulgar went as far as it could go years ago for me.
I don't feel this film bothered trying to top others in this way, it just tried to be funny and I found myself laughing out loud which I don't do anymore (I've seen and heard it all). Lauren steals the show. David is playing a mundane boring characterless man which he also nails but is not as noteworthy by definition. Really glad I watched this.
The Making of a Lady (2012)
1h 35min of horror film music
It's pretty much from the start even though there is very little to warrant it but you basically end up with 1h 35min of horror film music. It gets very tiring very quickly. If you thought this was going to be the usual entertaining period drama the UK puts out regularly think again. I was forced to watch it but if you manage to make half way through by choice expect to start shouting in irritation at the far fetched ridiculousness more and more as the movie continues. You hope it will get better as the film goes on but it gets worse. Add in a load of randomly unexplained or uncompleted plot points for the final nail. Don't waste your time in my opinion.
Mystery Men (1999)
This is an entertaining film
I didn't watch this film to see the acting skills or the special effects or anything else that serious film critics may look for. All I wanted was to be entertained and enjoy the film. Mystery Men passed with flying colours, and had me laughing hard a few times when most light hearted films just seem average to me these days. I think for the style of light hearted comedies this is a lot funnier than most of the films released these days that try really hard to make you laugh but dont.
Watch It. 8/10 (most comedies would get 5/10 off me these days)
