Why? (2021)
What a joke!
Disclaimer: I watch anything with Lance Henriksen, knowing most movies he is in will be lousy. Favorite show ever: Millennium. This was so bad, that I didn't stay around to watch him. When the main (idiot) character starts saying "who's there", you know the script is trash. What do they expect? "It's me the serial killer". Any horror movie, regardless of lousy, I give the benefit of the doubt IF IT DOES not have anyone that stupid.
Tardy Terror (2021)
Really liked this movie.
Tubi has listed as Horror High. Creepy and interesting, better than most recent horror movies. It's also a coming of age for a group of teens. It doesn't only have a monster, it also shows how evil some teens can be to those they look down on. Hard to tell who was worse the demonic entity or the school bullies.
The Seance (2021)
What a waste of time!
I can't imagine anyone liking this "movie". If I was the man, I would have told her to get out, she would have refused and I would have called the police to force her out. So we get a back and forth and back and forth, etc. An interesting thing if this had been a Shakespeare play. Could not wait for her to get what she deserved. Of course, it was a YouTube "influencer".
UFO (2018)
Could have been a LOT better.
A reviewer wrote "you may not like if you hate math". Really? I was a math wiz, took every advanced math available. This movie is boring. Some college student obsessed with numbers. A UFO showing up! Mentions the message sent from the radiotelescope in Arecibo decades ago, before it was sabotaged not that long ago, by the powers that are. (Been there multiple times, not way it was natural.) Now something is showing up. Like tenth of thousands at the very least, for thousands of years. What, he saw one as a child and somehow wasn't aware. So he needs to use his math skills? For what? To reprove they exist?
Rise of the Scarecrows: Hell on Earth (2021)
LOL, I'm joining the other 3 out of 4 who gave this a ten.
First of all, the main character is not even remotely a "young man" more like higher end middle age. His dance moves are something you would have seen in a lousy 50's movies. The script, if you can call it that, is terrible; the scarecrows mentioned in the name, are something else. LOL I bet they failed movie scarecrows school. The people are a stupid as it gets. I was in awe to say the least! I am laughing non stop as I type. The person who gave it a 1 has no sense of humor. If I'm going to be stuck indoors when the snow is piled over four feet high, I don't mind a movie so awful that it makes me laugh. Sure beats having to go shovel. Lol.
The Bone Garden (2016)
Two stars, cute dog.
You know how sometimes you are hoping that a character ends up dead early on. That's exactly what I felt watching this movie. Unfortunately the main character rarely dies at the start. Even her insane, nymphomaniac best friend was an improvement. Needless to say I did not finish this beyond lousy movie.
Insidious: The Last Key (2018)
It had its moment but very far in between.
Half the time, I was trying to not fall asleep. Evil father, very dumb daughter. Hint if a psycho dad beats you once, he will beat you again if you tell him the same thing (and she was the best part of the movie). Assistants: one dumber than the one trying to find himself a girlfriend to the point of pathetic. Wow, was that supposed to be the comedy part? "What, have I changed that much?" Logical answer: even little brother is in his 70's, yep. I'm 75 and the things going on at the beginning were before my time, so she would be in high 80's. Insidious (others) had their highs and lows, this one had it's lowers. Main actress has been in around 20 horror movies, some of them really good (as in cult classics). If I were her I would told the person who wrote this script, "this is beneath me", start over.
Ashes (2018)
I gave it 1 because there is not a zero option
You read what it's about, you think "some what stupid", then you find out this is a "documentary" style mess. A bunch of idiots with the intelligence of an ameba, trying to be amusing. Were I the aunt, you can bet I would be getting even with those fools.
The Ideal (2011)
Wrong continent and place, for the setting of this movie.
I gave it a five just because, it was creepy and weird. BUT if the setting had been in Germany, I would have gone higher. They find a book from Germany (haunted, I guess). How did it end up in the US, in a school, that would be more at home somewhere in the Britsh Isles? Or as a mental asylum in the US, in the early 1900's. Can't say much more without being a spoiler. I was confused.
Home with a View of the Monster (2019)
Did not make it far.
I'm watching what is listed as horror movie. The owners are staying outside in a car while they rented out their house. She can't even afford shoes not full of holes that she has to tape together. First scene kids appearing in different places, oh wait, there is simple reason. They decide to go back to what I think is a run down shack (note shoes). She finds weapon "what's this?" shock! What, she missed where they were staying? Turns house is nothing less than a mansion. HOW?? By then I'm wondering who made this mess and I'm only in the first 11 minutes. Did the obvious - came here to see what that was. Find 10 stars reviews. That is my clue, the thing is going to be so bad, that who ever made it had to have his pals give it great reviews. Decided not to waste my time. Get real, I will watch movies with seven and even three but TEN??? Hate people trying to fool me into watching something they know stinks.
Hellblazers (2022)
Fun movie from the start!
Great cast! A little bit from this movie, another bit from that one, and on and on. I found it entertaining and fun. Not the movie for someone looking for a masterpiece. Couldn't believe someone's dumb review, what no sense of humor? I started laughing for the very beginning. Sure beats those horror movies that are just a copy of a few hundred before. I wrote the name down, so I can watch it again. Billy Zane, Tony Todd, Bruce Dern's explanation of what he saw, LOL.
The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008)
There is one thing I liked.
I watched this movie for one reason only: Keanu, like him since Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. We are not worthy of some one so awesome! (Yes, I know but it fits him perfectly.) There is Madam Secretary of Stupidity (don't like the real woman either) "think Columbus and the Native Americans"? What? Asides from him never setting foot in what we know as North and South America? Hint, he stayed in the CARIBBEAN. Most have been his magic wand! LOL At that point I decided, I'll just look at the guy and drool. The original was a few thousand times better. All the stars are for Keanu with a slight mention in favor of the scientists.
Dark Was the Night (2014)
Enjoyed every minute.
I'm sure some people will not like it. I can not explain why. It was not a mindless blockbuster. It's a small town, with small town people that all of a sudden gets a very unexpected visitor. A sheriff with issues, but a good person and his escape from NYC deputy. The characters are just regular folks, not some super heroes. That makes it believable. They have a job to do and they do it. Way better than many cookie cutter remakes, that seem to the norm in many recent movies.
Onus (2020)
This is under the category of horror.
This has to be the most boring horror movie ever. Not a single likeable character. The worse, the only non-member of the family, so I'm assuming she is the intended victim. Goes to an estate dressed like a garbage collector, is nosy and rude. Her acting is non existing. I could not finish it. I hope she dies. Heck, I hope they all do.
Harland Manor (2021)
I thought, oh great a movie by Tubi!
Then the movie started. Then it was more like oh, no, what have they done? First of all I watch one movie there every day. You would think they would have figured out what not to do. WRONG! Let me start with my number one peeve. Excessive deep breathing by a character that goes on and on and on. I guess "Oh, I'm terrified". NO! More like is the person having a asthma attack. Extremely stupid character: are you okay, are you okay, guess what is coming next in a horror movie. Yep! I gave it a two because I like Tubi. I couldn't finish it. Maybe next time.
Modern Love (2006)
Worth a 2 for the view.
Unbelievable, some people actually liked this beyond boring movie. Had I been the wife, I would have left this nutcase after the first 15 minutes. "Terrible guilt" drives guy to dispair due to terrible thing he did. Can't say what the stupid reason was, because it would make people wonder, "what?".
Where Is She? (2019)
Interesting begining and then...
It starts okay: A couple with the brains of an ameba and a young annoying girl trick or treater, who likes making masks. Interesting enough but, then it goes artsy and loses all semblance of reality, in a bad way. Lots of potential wasted. Reminds me of movies from the 60's made by guys on a psychedelic trip. I'm way too old to want to go back there.
Haven's End (2019)
Could it get more ridiculous?
We learn in the first few minutes, terrorist have hit the entire planet, all at the same time. Then it gets even more "believable". Everyone has some sort of a personality issue (talking about the "good" guys). Yep, "you killed a really nice guy for zero reason, but that's okay not your fault". What? That is the most unrealistic, don't want to call it piece of garbage, "survivalist" movie I've had the misforturne to start to watch. Couldn't take all the whinning after 23 minutes.
Ouijageist (2018)
What a waste!
This movie had all it takes for a really good horror movie about a Ouija board. It lasted less than 1 1/2 hours. By the end of the first half, I was ready to stop watching. I stayed on, hoping for an improvement. But, I can only describe it as tedious. Definition: too long, slow, dull, tiresome and monotonous. And, the two main female characters, mother and daughter, as brainless. The very ending explained something that had me wondering for quite a while.
The Stay (2021)
My brain is hurting!
I guess some people will like this mess. Has it all, when it comes to brainless people: two stupid guys who married women, who probably thought "he's so stupid, I better grab him while I can". Lets start with the obvious. When meeting a guy, who seems to be the perfect psycho, NEVER make fun of him to his face. After that scene, you don't have to watch anymore, you know what is coming.
A Werewolf in England (2020)
Not quite there.
As soon as I read the title, I thought "A Werewolf in London" remake. They tried hard to make into a campy movie, but didn't quite managed to do so. Not for lack of trying. Not funny enough. It did have its moments, unfortunately, I can't mention which ones, without turning it into a spoiler. I did like the fact that they did not set the movie in the 2000's. Not great but I did watch until the end, which I liked.
Prityazhenie (2017)
Great start then it fizzled
I liked this movie at first, then it started to center around our mean and angry heroine. "Lets go on a rampage because we shot at a space craft and my friend didn't move out of the way." Anywhere else: accident. Once I decide the main character is a brat, the movie falls flat. I don't care what happened next, still disliked her. Too bad, nice side effects.
Vittra (2012)
One bloody mess.
First: what I liked, the older man with a functioning brain and human feelings. What did I dislike? The lack of functioning brains of the rest of the character BEFORE they lost their minds, among other things. I know horror movies, are full of dumb people, but usually you find one person who turns out to be smart and regardless if they live or die, you actually like. I didn't like any. "Lets leave." Smart idea. It's RAINING, so they decide to go back to house from hell??? Is that a joke?
