Revenge of the Nerds (1984)
One of the Top 10 comedies ever made
All time classic comedy that blends several genres into an exciting action packed thrill ride that will have you on the edge of your seats wanting more and more. Well...kinda.
I was 12 when this movie was released and first time I saw it was when it came out on HBO. At 12 or 13 yo, I didn't get a lot of the jokes but still lmao. And then watching it again the next few years it became even funnier because I started to get more of the jokes. And of course at that age being a dude, the gratuitous and frequent nudity was awesome.
I was one of those kids that was bullied and harassed pretty much all the time at school and seeing the Nerds come together to defeat the Alpha-Betas and the Pies was such an amazing inspiring part of the movie.
Of course this movie has many many tropes and it certainly qualifies as a true 1980s teen party / sex movie.
I still watch it at least once every few days (jk...but at least a few times every year) and it always has me lmao ....and always makes me proud and inspired at the end when everyone that has been picked on, bullied, and harassed all come together at the end.
There is no way a movie like this would ever be made in this era, as it is one of the most un PC movies ever made. The youth of today and "woke" people seem to tear apart and rip on pretty much every scene. A hilarious but super very un PC quote -
Lewis: (planning the party)Do any of you have dates, besides Gilbert?
Lamar: I do!
Booger: Yeah, but that's with a guy.
Lewis: Well, what about you, Booger?
Booger: I've been out combing the high schools all day!"
If you love serious comedy - Please do yourself a great favor and watch this movie!
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Independence Day withTime Travel
I did enjoy this movie quite a bit. Having said that - it was the standard Aliens Invade Earth formula that ID followed. Big bad aliens invade Earth and cool nerdy people save the world with help from lots of weaponized military people. But it was pretty good because it contained time travel. And the ending was a bit surprising.
This Is Us (2016)
Became predictive and boring
The first few seasons were good. Then came season 4 and now 5.
It has become the same long drawn out issues and saturated with predictive political bs.
And the same musical riff is overplayed in just about every scene. I have tried to watch the season 5 episodes, but become bored in a few minutes and turn it off.
Lone Star Law (2016)
Hooked me like a Texas fish
Browsing through all the channels a few weeks ago, I stumbled on this show. I started watching it and was hooked right away.
All the Wardens are very professional and treat everyone they come upon with respect and compassion.
I am watching all the episodes on the cable on demand.
Thanks to the Wardens and those responsible for the show for making a very educational and entertaining show.
The only thing that is negative is the constant twangy background music. It is very annoying.
Ice Airport Alaska (2020)
Very Impressive Look at this airport
I have always been fascinated at the operations and maintenance of airports and aircraft. This series looks at the people and their jobs as they work at Ted Stevens Airport in Anchorage. This airport has many unique hazards and challenges not seen at airports in most of the United States. It takes a good look at many of the jobs these dedicated people do.
The airport employees and airline employees all do an awesome job to ensure the safety of the passengers as they arrive and depart on time.
Dexter (2006)
Surprise Surprise surprise
I just started watching from S1 ep 1 a few weeks ago. I never watched it back when it was airing originally.
I have just finished Season 3. I was completely surprised as I thought Quinn would end up being the Slicer.
So far, this a really good series.
Southern Fried Stings (2010)
How much bigger can his ego get before his head explodes?
This show is on the low of the low staged reality shows. When did the US change the Constitution & Bill of Rights? This dude & his team of soccer hooligans think they can harass & bust anyone & everyone. They kick in people's doors, forcibly detain people, threaten them, assault them, and cuff them like they are some sort of quasi-law enforcement militia. Most LE agencies cant even do what they do legally. Sorry old dude & hooligans, but you are NOT Seal Team 6 hunting down & killing Osama! Too bad you scare the crap out of the people you harass. They probably are unaware of the fact they can laugh in your face, flip you off, & then walk away.
Final Destination 2 (2003)
Wow!
Saw this for the first time today. It was good. What caught my attention was the horrendous and horrific freeway crash. I have never seen a worse accident on TV. The crash totally remInded me of "C.H.I.P.S". They always had the bad collisions on nearly every episode. The movie crash scene was full on textbook a typical "C.H.I.P.S" episode. -Always more than 10 vehicles -The slightest scratch on any of the involved vehicles (in CHIPS) ALWAYS resulted in a huge series of explosions and ultimate destruction to every vehicle (sometimes the cars exploded more than 1 time)! -Vehicles being "launched and jumped" up over the other vehicles. -And of course the broken chain and / or rope on a truck that always causes a big rig to lose its' whole load on the freeway.
