The Sopranos: Employee of the Month (2001)
An example of why the sopranos is such a great TV show **spoilers**
While this episode isn't the best or even one of the top 10 episodes that this show has to offer, it shows why the sopranos is highly revered for its quality. In this episode Dr. Melfi is raped and through a loophole, the rapist is released much to her and Richard's dismay. This causes her to consider gaining help from Tony to deliver justice, something the law wasn't able to accomplish. However, in the end, she chooses not to consult his help.
In my opinion this is what separates the Sopranos from mediocre and even good television. In Sons of Anarchy a similar situation arises (except with a child molester) and the Sons decide to deliver justice in gruesome fashion. Instead of having a brutal scene in which Tony does something similar to a rapist who arguably deserves such a fate, the show goes a different direction and Dr. Melfi chooses to take the high road instead. In my opinion this is a good example of why the Sopranos is a great show that doesn't resort to cliché endings and is one of few instances where an archaic forms of justice aren't implemented.
South Park: ManBearPig (2006)
hilarious regardless of political views
Alright so this episode makes fun of Al Gore. I'm sure it pisses a few liberals off. The thing is South Park makes fun of everybody, much like the Simpsons did. If you get offended that a politician you like is made fun of then maybe you need a better sense of humor and are taking the show too seriously. With that being said this episode is hilarious and one of the best. Al Gores portrayal is hilarious, Cartman's scheme goes terribly wrong and the results will have you rolling on the floor laughing. It is basically everything you would ever want out of a south park episode and it is easily one of my favorites. I'll won't comment too much further on the plot because I don't want to give anything away.
The Simpsons Movie (2007)
Plenty of laughs for anyone who is or was a fan of the Simpson's
The movie was awesome. Many here seemed to think that the movie will suck like some of the latest seasons of the show. I have watched plenty of the older episodes of this show and I would say a good portion of this movie is equally as funny. There is something for everyone to laugh at in this movie just as the show poked fun at everything in society. There is actually a lot of relevant current issues type of humor to be had and such things include blow back, wiretapping and general trust in your government. Other humor is just good old fashioned Simpson's humor (the movie begins with Itchy and Scratchy) such as Homer tiling his roof and Flanders gets owned plenty of times. There is some irrelevant family guy like humor but it is kept to a minimum and after a while the plot really picks up. I highly recommend this to anyone who has ever liked the Simpson's at one point or another. You will not regret paying, "to see something you can see for free on TV every Sunday", trust me!
