Imaginary (2024)
Missed the mark but still worth a watch
The acting was ok, from most the cast. The old neighbor lady was awful...maybe the script was just awful. The actress was so silly and awkward, her narration was too on the nose. Guess she learned the hard way?. The weird oblivious father is a must to further the unnatural plot. I had such high hopes for this but it was meh. It was such a great idea but then it was so disconnected. Wise is beautiful, but the wig, y'all stop. You could see it shine in the light, it looked like yall got it from party city. She was the main character and her costumes were amazing, but yall missed with the hair. She was the main focus she should look flawless. The father looked like the brother while we are on it, I mistook him for the neighbor boy...bad casting. Jessica's dad was a bad casting issue as well. He looks so young and youthful and it looked silly the same actor with just white spray in his beard.. I don't think it was awful but I expect more with such a great idea. Not sure why anyone would think this was political, didn't get that vibe at all, from an earlier review. Overall not bad.
Ted Lasso (2020)
I loved every minute of this show
Every character was well drawn and dimensional. I cant decide which combos I love the most. Waddingham is one of the most stunning women I have ever seen. Her character is well put together and visually striking, she did an amazing job making the viewer believe she was Rebecca. Sudeikis was amazing, couldnt get enough of the dad jokes and word play between him and Hunt. Temple and Goldsteins characters endearing and quirky and I was rooting for them. There wasnt one character I didnt enjoy learning about, all the way down to the minor, brief roles. I loved every moment of this show, too many things to name. It made me happy, sad, and all the things a show like this hopes to draw out of the viewer. I was sad when it ended but I am glad it wasnt drug out to where the story and characters lose track. A+
In the Flesh (2013)
Decent start, went downhill fast
Cut short too soon to really explain anything. Kierans parents are the worst. You are given a second chance with your child and you don't fight for him. The typical provincial mob attacking the "monsters" when they are just trying to get on with life. I was interested and then it just ended abruptly without any explanation. The MP storyline was weak, when it was revealed. And Im just going to say, Jems character was insufferable. Grab you pistol for the 80th time, and aim it at nothing, every episode. She hides it then gets it out and loads it again, weird. And who was the costume designer, she walked around in huge pants that made her look like she was wearing a full diaper, I kept laughing and her walking around with a gun pointed at nothing with a diaper full. No shade to the actress, the character was awful. She was also terrible to her brother. The only good characters were Amy and Kieran. It had potential but just fell flat.
Talk to Me (2022)
It was ok
I think it was a wasted concept and could have been executed better. Pacing was weird and the movie didnt really explain much. Maybe it should have been longer, more in-depth. One person stated it was just about a "mostly white" first and foremost poc here and I really dont care its nice to see diversity but I am not sure how its relevant to the quality of the plot and secondly are you blind? Over half the cast were poc...either way, the actors executed their parts well. I think the direction was all over the place. Like if mom commits suicide, why was she struggling for help scratching the door? Miranda Ottos character was super aggressive jeez, why would anyone want to hang out at their house? Who lets their young boy out to a teenage party your older daughter is sneaking out to? Who stays friends with a girl that talks about your bf like that? Why does the spirit attack the boy and no one else? It was set in a weird manner, not aligned with reality so it makes the supernatural unnoticeable. I think the actors were just fine despite the criticism but you can only do what your directed to do. I think they should try the concept again in another film and maybe elaborate on its origin and what the spirits are trying to do?
Nothing Left to Fear (2013)
Dumb, CGI was bad...
Like someone said, every cliche dumb move for all characters involved. Part of it made sense, the older sister should have just been punched and knocked out, she ruined the movie. Dad runs out screaming start the car, get in go, and she stands there and demands to know what's going on? Stop the car while a demon is chasing us, so I can get out, walk around and grab my hair in confusion to process this? And still argue in the street, when the demon is getting close. Does no one know how to argue in a car? She had the survival skills of a Brussel sprout. And they repeatedly leave the small child?? What kind of guy doesn't pick up the kid brother and run? That should have been a red flag. Why go through the process of picking her up if you were just going to cut her arm? I feel like straight kidnapping would have been less complicated. They never say why it was a pastors family, or if there was only one kid, what do they do then? Can people not move away? So many questions. I am a Clancy Brown fan, but this one was a stinker.
We Have a Ghost (2023)
Wanted to like it, but no
The father was verbally and physically abusive, the older brother is an a-hole and mom is too weak to stand up for the youngest son. The best friend is an obnoxious bully, that is passed off as progressive and quirky. She yells at a guy for asking for privacy when going to the bathroom? I didn't know that had anything to do with gender norms. But she doesn't mind touching Ernest without permission not once but twice just because she wanted to. The only characters that were remotely likable were Ernest and Kevin. Why would the cops be shooting at the kidnap victim? Come on. Jennifer Coolidge was in the movie for like 2 sec and really added nothing to the story and I'm a fan of hers. Good idea, poor execution.
Wednesday (2022)
Cute/Dark show
Best way for me to describe it. It was interesting enough as far as a plot went, it had a goosebumps vibe. Wednesday was a great character, unlikeable and likable. Despite being a CZJ fan she fell flat as morticia, but those are big spiked heels to fill. Morticias character wasn't written well, the makeup was awful, she looked sick but not in the way they intended. I love how they showcase Christies height, she looked lovely in every scene. Sunday looked amazing in every scene. The dance scene was great, worth a watch. All in all not a bad series, not my favorite Tim Burton, but enjoyable................:.......::..........,,,,,.............
Outer Range (2022)
Not sure yet
So far, I'm interested. Had a really hard time getting past the sick father being on a ventilator that isn't attached to him. Why does Hollywood think "medical noises" let's get a ventilator from 1970 and put it next to a patient not attach it and make it beep? Please stop this nonsense. Also why is everyone just going onto everyone's property around there? That's usually an offense that results in a bullet or at the very least put up some sort of fight. I'm liking the story line and Josh Brolin was my first bf, so I'm moving forward. Can't really rate it yet, but the fake ventilator scene was so terrible I had to write a preliminary review...liking it so far.
Moloch (2022)
Decent, not great.
The movie was decent enough. The film itself wasn't bad, but in an attempt to be unique they cut the sacrifices throats vertically, it makes no sense. First and foremost its a stretch that if someone cut their own throat they wouldnt cut from left to right, assuming they were right handed. And that's not reading in too deeply its just strange to do it any other way. Secondly cutting someones throat in the manner, almost ensures that they are just going to live with a gaping hole in their neck. Major vessels are on the side of the neck, so it's like deliberately trying to miss. It didnt make sense. The plot was decent enough, not a lot of jump scares, acting was decent. Its just hard to get past the calling card of a movie when its as silly as vertical throat cutting. Would recommend for a casual watch, nothing I would watch again. Still confused as if the villagers were in on it or it was just the curse?
Abandoned (2022)
What is happening?
Wife suffering from post partum, so lets move her to a murder house where a mother lost her mind and everyone was brutally murdered. Site almost unseen, didnt even look at all the rooms and signed that day?!?supposedly the husband is a vet. Not sure he seems like one of the dumbest characters ever. Baby won't stop crying he does nothing to help. Mom tries to move Baby into his own room where mom has already asked him repeatedly not to put the baby in the room because she's ready to go off the deep end. He's an idiot. And the breast feeding thing, ma'am your baby is 6 months old, if he ain't latching, by now, he's a bottle baby. By the time he catches on he will be graduating. The moron dad keeps forcing the whole breastfeeding thing on her and she literally looks like shes about to kill the baby. The baby eats the eggs and toast right off her plate, quit pushing the breastfeed thing. And what's with the blue pacifier? The dad is a horrible partner he contradicts everything, control freak. Jeez, pointless. So murders yada, yada, let's leave the victims pictures and murder furniture in the house and call them antiques...yah that will get the house sold. Oddly enough there are two such idiots, ready to sign. These people are idiots and it's shocking that the characters made it to adulthood. The more I watch the father the more I want to bash in his face for her. Skip it, you're rooting for them to die in the first 5 min.
Grimcutty (2022)
This movie didn't know what it wanted to be
First and foremost, someone needs to explain the definition of "fascism" to these idiot mom jean wearing teens. Secondly, since when is worrying about your kids looking up murders, necrophelia, and bomb making "mad hysteria"? What kind of parent wouldnt be worried about a their kid, slicing themselves up? And why is the monster attacking the kids because the parent is naturally worried? This makes no sense. So the parent is suppose to just chill, while their kid lies, endangers themselves and actually hurts themselves?? Asha is a total jerk, acted like a crackhead when they took her phone away, but acts like she doesn't have a phone addiction? The dad is the only sane one, the mom is an idiot. By the way, if she's a doc or nurse, you cant just pull sedating drugs to knock out your husband Willy Nilly. Teens in this our awful, you really dont care when these characters get attacked. So the moral of the story is you should sedate yourself with drugs as a parent and let your kids do whatever they want so a big fictional monster doesn't kill them.
Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)
Bad
I was so excited but this was cheesy and not in good way. Recycling of old jokes, zero connection to the first, and no character arche. The supposed outcasts are mean and the "dumb jock" was nice but they kept acting like he was a bully. They were selfish, a friend doesn't like doing what they do, so they ignore her. Jerks. It went off the rails from the beginning. Salt circles were a thing in the first one but somehow they don't know what it is in this one? There was zero reason that the main character, one that has zero character formation, becomes a witch. Sloppy, rushed script. It's like they were writing as they went. Bummed.
How It Ends (2021)
It wasn't awful, it wasn't good
A ton of actors I love but it was just background noise. It was on the nose, but I kept waiting for there to be something that made it stand out. Nada. All they managed to do was make both their leads walk around like they had itchy business, then they mentioned it and I was like oh, it was on purpose. Weird. And I love beautiful ugly, but why is the newer fashion trend to look like you dug in the goodwill box and look as unhygienic as possible? Putting lipstick on did not help. Acting was good, I think the story sucked.
The Twin (2022)
Took the long way
It was a mix up of the uninvited, rosemarys baby and a few others. Very lengthy for the explanation and when its explained it felt really forced. Not alike an aha moment just, like ok, I guess thats plausible. It would have been better if you didnt want to smack the kid the entire time. The child's character is rude, creepy, and has zero redeeming qualities. Who doesnt want to hear a 6 year old screaming at the top of his lungs, bossing his mother around? It was not worth a second watch for sure.
Monstrous (2022)
Just terrible
Love Ricci, but this sucked. I kept thinking god this actress sucks and then see the credits and it's Colleen Camp. I didn't think she was ever an amazing actress but it was terrible hearing her speak. So fake. Like she was literally reading lines as she went. The story plot line would have been great if they executed the concept better. It just didn't come out. Waste of $7.
A House on the Bayou (2021)
Awful acting
The wifes character was such a jerk. I liked the actress in WestWorld, her acting was terrible in this. So, you're pissed at your husband for having an affair so you endanger them with weirdos, out of spite? Your child hates veal and your husband hates veal, so naturally you want to force them to eat veal at some weirdos house. They write a crazy message on the receipts and you're like its cool, Im going to go your house. Oh and you rent someones house and try to break into a room thats locked. What kind of woman is she? Shes weird too. They come over and the "grandpappy" is rude, I would have kicked him out. Just dumb and awkward any normal person would have kicked them out by now.
The Bye Bye Man (2017)
Not horrible but not good
More background noise than anything. Decent enough plot executed poorly. How did Moss end up here? They botoxed Dunaway so much I almost didn't recognize her. I don't know why Hollywood insists on unrealistic beauty standards? It's ok to look your age. Cressida Bonas was terrible. So whiney, she's a terrible actress, it's almost comical. And why would you bring your little girl to your mentally unstable brothers house?!!? Shes trying to push her way in the house and hes got blood all over him? Dumb.
Upload (2020)
Season 1 great! Season 2 meh.
Loved season 1 and the concept. Then it got too preachy in the second season. I love Johnson and Bigley together, the are adorable. But the weird Ludd plot line sucked and the election swaying? For who? 1% are on both sides? How does this plot line make sense. Anyhow, it went off the rails and went in a weird direction, Nora's character was unbearable in season 2, she just assumes the worst of Nathan every time. Matteo is a creepy terrorist and adds nothing but cringe to every scene. I actually starting liking Ingrid more, shes actually improving, while the "heroes" are simultaneously getting worse. Im bummed because I had been waiting for season 2 and it was disappointing. Some characters just faded away, no explanation. Meh.
See for Me (2021)
I tried, I failed
Gave it a go and it was as stupid as it sounds. Props to the actress because she made me hate the main character. I disliked her so much I was cheering the bad guys. Possible home invasion and they send one officer?? Typical of the cheesy movie plot. I tried couldn't do it. Acting wasn't bad, the plot could have been executed better.
Shining Vale (2022)
Love it so far
Love it so far, interested to see where it goes. Side note, I have a filthy mouth so the f bomb doesn't bother me at all, but the frequency and timing of the f bomb in this show ruins it. Comedic timing is imperative to make it funny or drive your point home, it just sounds crass without the benefit of wittiness. I don't know if this is the writers fault or the actors delivery, but that's my only con so far.
They Live in the Grey (2022)
Total rip-off of sixth sense
I agree with other reviewers, total Rip off, all the way down to the exact lines. "Look what you made me do!" Come on. The acting from the main character was terrible and cheesy "ghost" scenes were underwhelming.
Just Like Heaven (2005)
Please pay medical staff
Formula driven rom com and while I love Reese and Mark. But, who wrote this? The ridiculous medical scenarios made it so dumb. "It's a tension pneumothorax!" "I can't tell you anything about my friend (who's also my patient) unless you're intimately connected." I almost spit out my drink. She's been in a coma and she's still in an icu bed? But we are giving her special treatment. Where kids are allowed to run through the halls? "You're so grown up?" You saw them 3 months ago. And if she was supposedly a DNR, why did they put her on life support in the first place? I know I'm a medical critic but even your average Joe knows this is ridiculous.
Van Helsing (2004)
It's a white noise movie
It's bad and I usually like bad movies. Bad accents, weird storyline, annoying vampire brides that dance around like they are on crack. Bad cgi and why do they keep stabbing vampires in the gallbladder? Does anyone know where a heart actually is?? I love me son Hugh, but this was bad.
The Baytown Outlaws (2012)
Tasty trash
Could have been better, but overall kept my attention. Could have used a better story line but the main characters were on point. I think the "villains" were too comic book like to make the story flow well. But it's was good. Smokin Aces vibe and pretty good acting. Billy Bob wasn't so great, in this and he usually hits the mark. Still think he's great. Worth a watch.
Ron's Gone Wrong (2021)
My son loved it and so did I.
This was funny and cute and didn't push any weird agenda, other than, making real life friends and learning to disconnect from all things social media. Which is a good thing. I'm not sure why people **ahem (review below) think it's Satan's agenda to be nice to everyone, you need to take your meds. Because you sound insane. Religion has nothing to do with this movie, yet somehow you weaves this into the review. Great movie! Make more like it.
