Halloween Ends (2022)
A different kind of ending!
Going into this film blind really helps I think. It's a different kind of Halloween movie. Similar to dare I say it, the rob zombie Halloween 2, this movie goes down an entirely different path than we would have expected (especially after seeing the messy kills movie).
Picking up 4 years we see our characters living a sort of happy existence, the story sort of switches up with a new storyline involving a new character. Some fans will love it and some will hate it, it's bound to split audiences. I enjoyed the welcome change to the typical hack and slash routine. What we got was actually a random, wacky sort of coming of age story. Don't let that put you off though, it's fun and doesn't leave you high and dry.
The pros, This Laurie is happy and content. This is a pleasant change from the crazy paranoid woman that lives in the woods. It's nice to see our characters live a happy somewhat normal life untill Michael comes back along. When the action begins (a little late but that's in my cons) it doesn't let up, it's balls to wall gore. The kills are memorable and just as depraved as Halloween kills's body count. Also the final showdown DELIVERS! For me atleast, it was a great buildup and very tense! I felt more than satisfied when the credits rolls! I felt we got a weird badass Halloween movie to end them all!
The cons, the change in direction will split fans, but not getting too far into that, the pacing is abit of an issue. Fleshing out storylines and arcs sort of grounds to a halt in the middle of the movie and you want to hurry it along to the action but just as you wish that it sort of kicks into gear! Also thank Christ all the evil dies tonight nonsense is gone! For having such a random sort of wacky story it plays straight forward with no silly messages and undertones!
For the final entry, I'm glad they went down a different route! It pays off for me! This movie for me has a rewatch factor! A massive jump in terms of storytelling and quality compare to kills. The film looks good and it has fun! I was in a packed cinema and loved every minute! And the ticket price for the final showdown was worth it alone! Go in blind and enjoy the ride!
Obsessed (2009)
Keeps you on the edge of you seat and shouting for the winner!
I really cannot understand all the hates for this film, it was similar to Fatal Attraction but what film nowadays isn't based on another? The acting in this film was good, Ali was better than Beyonce but I did think they were both good. As the story slowly unfolds you begin to see how the obsessed Ali get worse and more sinister throughout the entire film which i liked. And the fact that they were not leaving dealing with the situation to the police. Beyonce was reading to seal with it!
I really enjoyed it! You knew how the ending would go but what a hell of a thrill ride. The way it was shot reminded me of Prom Night remake, which some may not be to happy about me saying but it was all clean cut and expensive looking.
Hollywood movie, big budget, but was surprisingly good!
PS. Watch out for Scout Taylor Comptons small role, she is excellent in her role as the confused babysitter.
Some may disagree but I think "Obsessed" was a sexy thriller which is so great looking you wont be able to take your eye's of the screen.
90210 (2008)
I think you either love it or hate it.
There's no in between with this show, I was pulled in with it as soon as it started. Sure the story lines are a bit over the top but as a teenager myself i find that some of these things can happen, we do send the wrong texts to people which causes a HUGE argument, teenagers do get pregnant. I also think that because all these people in the show are living these glamorous lives, that also draws me in. I can't take my eyes off. I do have problems with the show when it comes to the characters ages' and whatnot. In no way do these kids displayed in the show look 15/16 years old. They all look like there in their 20's but it doesn't put me all the way off. If your a grown adult you will hate this, but if your around you teen's to early 20's this will just be the right show to make you forget about your worries and head into the land of 90210 where everyone is rich and everyone has so much drama in their lives.
Fear House (2008)
Probably One Of The Worst Films I've Seen. Period
I viewed this film late at night, i wasn't tiered, i was wide awake but oh god i wish i was asleep.
I love cheesy horror films, but there's a certain amount i can stand and then it just goes too far. The film starts off on a horrible note with a couple making love inside "Fear House". However the house has never been touched in 100's of years the place looks awfully modern. Enyway, back to the story. They are in the middle of doing it when a guy walks in and says the usual "Your trespassing". blah blah blah. The couple run out and die horrible cheesy deaths.
Spoilers!!! Don't look! The guy slips on a wet floor (don't know why it was wet) and and then "suddenly" a coat rack falls on him and stabs him in the eye! His girlfriend run's out and trys to get the gate open but it won't (typically) then "suddenly" a hook come's down and stabs he beneath the jaw.
now with these few deaths i assume you can tell how the film is going to continue on.
A writer then rent's to the house to concentrate on her newest book. blah blah blah.
nine months past.
Group of new people enter the story. Writers brother. Random woman who has lost her father (for some reason they are all sharing the same car). Writers manager and his assistant. also the car behind there's has the writers ex-husband in it and also a trailer park trash Barbie. They go inside the house. am boring you aren't i? Well the look around find the weirdo sister. she tells them a not so spooky story about a "Little girl" and they all get freaked.
Spoilers! The Barbie and ex get knocked off. She gets killed by a stupid dog that we never see and he get's electrocuted by a random hanging wire.
The story continues with stupid and pointless dialogue and stupid scenes that make no sense. Now each character seem's to have a fear but if i could keep track of them all only two get killed by there fears and the really loosely I'm saying. Well there's one character that i didn't really mind-was the managers assistant who then blossom's a "suprising" relationship with the brother. All this drama could kill me or should kill me cus this film was terrible.
Most cheesy horror films, have if not a good budget, good make up effects. But this was different. The characters were killed off randomly at points and had no relevance to the story. And the Ending! Normally they sum things up but i was left thinking wtf? I didn't get it. it was crap. The acting was rubbish. The scares were pathetic and didn't make sense. i would just rather take a bullet than watch this film.
And the worst part is. I spent money on it!!!
Big Bad Wolf (2006)
Overall Not That Bad But Some Parts Were A Bit Hairy
First off I am a teenager, but take my word for it, i'm not one of those teens who liked Prom Night!
This film was not half as bad as I thought it was, the story was done before but were you expecting something completely original?
The pacing of the film was unique however i thought it seemed to drag a bit in the middle, some of the acting was good minus the male teenager lead. The gore in this film was pretty good. Nothing really jumps out at me I've seen most of it before; teen cast, gore, some jumps, some funny parts (sometimes I didn't think they were supposed to be taken as funny though) but overall i enjoyed it.
Bad Parts This film was extremely cheesy, but i like that kinda thing, but some others may not. EG. The wolf talks! he does things like "I'll huff and i'll puff and i'll RIP YOUR GUTS OUT!" I did like the wolf costume but his lips didn't really move when it was talking and the cgi when he was turning in a wolf was pretty bad.
Spoilers Ahead ( LOOK AWAY NOW IF YOU Don't WANT TO SEE ).
You can pretty much guess whats going to happen throughout the whole film. I you know who would survive and die by the first 5 minutes in. They have the typical characters who you know are going to get picked off. Sluts, jocks, drunken teens but I really don't mind it as it's the same in every horror film. One part I remember the most is the sort of gold digging, slutty virgin girl gets humped by the wolf (Laughing into myself as i type) and her boyfriends says "She was a virgin..." and the wolf replies "Well she ain't' anymore!"
With things like that happening you know your gonna have a pretty fun and time passing little film thats completely forgettable but really enjoyable. So thats why i would give big bad wolf 6 out of 10. For good gore effects and some laughable moments, big bag wolf would be a perfect film for watching on Halloween night with some friends.
