Busanhaeng (2016)
accurate portrayal of human nature
THE MOST THRILLING MOVIE I'VE EVER WATCHED. The chaos was so constant throughout most of this movie. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. This only made the humane moments stand out more. Ma Dong Seok and Gong Yoo's character arcs had the perfect set up and emotionally PAYED OFF. Every performance was on point! You could just see the fear portrayed in detail on everyones faces. Even the extras! Every dialogue flowed naturally and realistically. The zombies physical movements and make up were so believable and executed well! All of this only added to the fear and panic instilled on viewers and portrayed to perfection by all the characters on screen. It was brilliant writing-wise, the way every character had such diverse characters with different perspectives, arcs, motivations, and belief systems all intertwined and played out like a domino effect. Massive tear jerkers, in a good way. I was sobbing so much near the end. Solid Film!
This movie showcases human nature so accurately.

perspective shifting
This movie is interesting because the events taking place in this fantasy is exactly how events would play out in real life. The theme of loneliness is very present throughout, and the cinematography choices is a big reason for this. Very well used. It didn't matter that a different actor was on scene each time. I felt what the characters were feeling and experienced what the characters experienced.
The two main characters are written in such a believable way. They are just good people who found love in each other. One had to learn to appreciate the other instead of "protecting" them by running away, while had to learn to accept the other as they appear because of the love they have for the beautiful soul on the inside.
Both have take the risk and face the hardships of life together in order to have true love. I'm in love with the way they spent time apart in order to realize this. I applaud this movie for it's realism, cinematography, authenticity, and overall message.

a suspenseful mystery with heart
This was a simple crime mystery with heart. The intrigue was there at the start, with those great cliffhangers keeping me hooked on each episode and curious about the next. At the end of each episode, it kept slowly getting more intense. The amount of drama in this was also well a necessary layer, which made me care a lot for the main characters. Each of the three leads had their own conflicts to face with the antagonist, which added more to the overall conflict. I love the motherly bond with the son, at the center of it. Every choice made was for him. Mystery was well put together and unraveled, but the bonds formed between characters made it all worth watching for me.

Comedic, Relatable, and Wholesome.
The two protagonists are entertaining and relatable. This covers mental illness in a relatable and comedic way. With 13 short episodes, it's easy to binge. The story has depth with a sweet romance development and raw emotional range portrayed from both lead actors performances. Overall great character work. It has heart.

creatively self aware
The plot line is unique. A lot of the characters have a pure charm to them. The leads are so adorable together, but their loyalty, strong bond, and devotion for one another is truly admirable. It's such a great escape from the reality of the real world at times. The humor is lighthearted and very self aware. You can tell the script writers had a lot of fun filling the drama with cliches that make fun of kdrama stereotypes. There's also a great amount of deep tragic aspects for all the leads, which makes it super easy to root for all the characters. Be prepared to feel heart broken for them from time to time, laugh, cry, and even frustrated. For me, this is easily at least a 9/10. But I love it so much and had such an attachment to the cast, that i'm giving it a 10. Well done.

CHARACTER DRIVEN. INTERNAL CONFLICTS.
This is such a poetic drama. I love the steady characterization and set up being PRIORITIZED. The cinematography, dialogue, and acting is on point!
Characters: DEPTH. Both lead characters are so complex, easy to sympathize with, and broken in a relatable way. Their flaws contrast one another perfectly. They learn from each other because their world views are challenged by each other. Which is imperative to both of character developments. The female lead's arc is about learning to face your emotions head on. The male lead's is about self acceptance. Both portrayed in such a powerful and unique way.
Tone: I love the tone. It has a different kind of balance between drama and fantasy than I've seen in other drama. It feels so grounded. Less extravagant than I was expecting, but that's a good thing. I even love the sudden tone shits from scene to scene. It speaks to the chaos within humanity.
Editing: I love the editing. Especially loved the beautifully shot frozen scene, reverse effects, and TRANSITIONS.
Acting/Chemistry: Solid. You can really feel the tensions, psychological conflicts, and longing for each other through their acting.
And most importantly, THE MESSAGE: It's SO IMPORTANT and SO TRUE. Suffering is what makes true happiness possible. Chaos makes the idea of peace appreciated. Death gives life value. Live in the present and make the most out of life.
How this drama manages to be fantasy, but still so character driven is amazing. Such a humane story about real conflicting emotions with a message about the value life. Uniquely written and portrayed. I loved the ending too. Wholesome. This drama has a special place in my heart.
