Love (2016)
This senior can't stop watching this 30-somethings show!
Ok, I like-no, love-comedies, but at first I wasn't sure i could stick with this show. The characters just had no boundaries, and it was annoying to watch. But I like Judd Apatow's work, so I stuck with it. As the people became less 2-dimensional and more relatable and promising, I was hooked, looking forward to my self-imposed quota of one, or maybe two, episodes each day. The leads are excellent as they navigate their lives being their own worst enemies at times. The supporting characters have their own issues, and range from annoying work associates to friends with a variety of fading hopes and dreams.
As I approach the end of season two, I can't wait to see how they all attain (or don't?) their hopes and dreams. I will be sad to say good-bye to (most of) them at the end of season three.
Shiva Baby (2020)
Meh
I don't usually write movie reviews, but I have to express my disappointment. There were some uncomfortably funny moments, which explains my 6 stars. However, the repetitious jokes/situations and Jewish-parent stereotypes don't support a higher rating.
Might check out the writer's short film that this was based on, maybe she should have stopped there?
