Road House (2024)
Who wrote this garbage??
By now it's a given that when a movie has 3 writters or more that it's gonna be bad and this movie is not an exemption.
Honestly while watching this movie I was wonrdering who in their right mind green lit the script.
No storyline (minimal, predictable), the dialogue flat and uninteristing and the characters simple and formulaic.
Maybe it's me but even Jake didnt perform as I would expect and it so happens to like him as an actor. In this one he seemed tense and stiff.
Most of all I liked Frankie as a character but her role in the movie was pretty small. Everyone else seemed bored and like they were there just for the paycheck.
Someone said is okay for a time killer. I say its not worthy even for that.
White Men Can't Jump (2023)
A Good Basketball movie to see Friday Night
I saw the original movie prior seeing this so I can compare them and stuff. In the remake I was happy to see that they kept the general premise but took a different approach. In no way is a copy paste with the original.
Jackman really held his own on his acting debut and I can really see him playing in more movies in the future. Also had a good chemistry with his co-star Sinqua Walls.
Now, the script wasn't the best. I would like more jokes and a better ending. The third act I felt it was rushed but that also happened with the original.
Overall, Its a fun movie to kick back and see Friday night after a long week.
You People (2023)
Kenya strikes again with another rant about racism...nothing new
Having found success with Black-ish (which was original and funny) Kenya Barris nowdays seems that all he does is try to make copies of that success but each copy each time comes out more formulaic, forced, incredibly NOT funny and TRULY uncomfortable.
Having lost 2 hours of my life with a movie that already knew the beats that was gonna follow I only watched it because I liked the main Charactets ,Ezra and Amira as a couple, and the actors Jonah and Lauren worked great together and seemed to have a really nice chemistry.
Having said that...Eddie murphy and Julia Louis-Dreyfus , that are comic legends of their generation were UNBEARABLE. I dont think I laughed once with their jokes but I blame the poorly written script.
Dont watch this if you wanna be entertained.
The Pentaverate (2022)
Not Bad, Just Boring !
I dont know if it is classic Mike Myers humor, but this is just not funny.
Maybe the jokes are too sophisticated for me or not sophisticated enough.
Also the main plot is boring with no suspense and weak characters. Another Gem from Netflix.
Moon Knight (2022)
Left me down a bit, I had higher hopes.
Good. Not great. Seemed a little underdeveloped idea for a series or like a movie that has been stretched into 6 episodes which rarely works. It went slowly building though the season but there was no climax.
Lately Marvel series that stream on Disney+ feel like an extended movie that's been chopped up in 6 episodes to create the series.
In Loki , Wanda Vision and Hawkeye I binged watched the whole series and I didnt quite noticed it, so I thoroughly enjoyed them.
But with Moon knight I made the mistake of watching one episode every week and it was a gruesome task.
Movies work in a 3-act stracture. If you right a series like a movie it's hard to keep the viewer emotionally invested. Especially when it needs to wait weeks to find what happens next.
Russian Doll (2019)
What did I just see ?
Watched the whole 2nd season and I still dont know where this was going. No direction, just non-sensical scenes and plots back to back for 7 episodes.
Just Lazy.
I love when I , as the viewer, dont have a clue what's going on but Im following to find out. That wasn't it. You just keep following the crazy red-head but is doesnt pay off not a single time.
FIRST SEASON WAS A 7.5 and I enjoyed it. It's a shame to follow it with that crap.
Netflix , cancel the series to save us from a 3rd season. A others say, should have been a limited series.
Taylor Tomlinson: Look at You (2022)
It's an 8 but I want to offset some unbased reviews.
There's this stereotype that females are not good at stand-up.
Also lately other female comics become intensionally vulgar for no reason. Maybe to be taken as edgy and progressive , i guess. I dont know whats with that! ( yeah Im looking at you Wong)
But, I know Taylor is a hell of a good Comedian and she proved it for a second time on Netflix. She doesn't get vulgar if it's not beneficial for the story. She touches on some important issues in a funny and original way by connecting the whole material together and it works.
It does get a bit dark at times but she's a master at relieving the pressure and bring you right back up.
As a male watching this special of course Im not gonna get 100% of it and sure I'm not gonna be happy to hear an opposite POV that doesn't put my sex in the best light. That doesn't mean the stand up is bad. It means you get offended too easily.
Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy (2022)
STOP REVIEWING KANYE WITH YOUR BIASED OPINIONS AND REVIEW THE DOCU
It's a beautifully told story about the up-and-coming of Kanye as a Producer as well as a Rapper. It's the first 'Coodie ' project I've seen but it's obvious he is a master storyteller and a great filmmaker.
( Also his voice is dope, Morgan Freeman Vibes)
It is shown multiple times in the docu that despite his immense talent Kanye had to fight for what he accomplised believing in himself when nobody else did except his mama. <3
Pumped to see the finale in a few days !
Space Force (2020)
Season 2 is so weak.
There is no direction. Half season in and the episodes are so pointless. They are lacking comic relief. The only thing thats barely holding the series is the A-level cast, but that show that even talent cant save a weak script.
Too bad I was pumped for season 2.
Home Team (2022)
Good Story , bad jokes
The plot of the movie was a nice football story but the bad jokes took away from that more than helping it make it a comedy.
Classic Netflix content to spent the time if you dont anything better to watch.
If you are gonna make a comedy at least write some good jokes pls .
Manifest (2018)
Watch Sense8 instead
As I was watching manifest I couldnt not compare it with the Netflix series "Sense8" by The Wachowskis.
They share the core premise however Sense8 is a beautifully made series with captivating photography across all continents of the globe, masterfull acting and is packed with action mystery and meaningful messages.
On the other hand Manifest is a much less cool version with bad acting , redandant plots and slow pace. In all fairness it has mystery and some plot twists but they dont always pay dividends.
Father Christmas Is Back (2021)
Makes you wander if anyone reads the script before the make it into a movie.
I watched the whole movie in x1.25 speed and still was very slow. Quite a few scenes didnt make any sense or at least didnt help in the plot nor provided any laughs. It had a good premise as fas as a christmas movie goes, the story was fresh , but the exicution was not up to par.
Superbad (2007)
Comedic Treasure
Little did we know 15 years back this would become the epitome of comedy and the big drought of comedies would begin shortly there after.
Ginny & Georgia (2021)
I got Banshee vibes from the trailer but I was mislead
A gangster mother with a troubled past in a small suburban town , riminded me of Banshee.
However is just another classic teenage drama , with boring dialogue and a few short moments of intrigue and action. Also full scenes sometimes didn't make any sense in the story.
After all, I stayed because Georgia is hot.
Season 2 update:
Pretty much the same stuff, although it was delivered in a better way. Ginny is still annoying most of the time. Seemingly every teenager in this town has some sort of mental issues.
Lastly, like in the first season I was left with a bitter taste because all the "action" that moves the plot happens in the last 2-3 episodes, and a big cliffhanger after that.
