Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Disappointing
Just been to the cinema to see this. Cast we're good. Nods to the original were appreciated. Loved the original cast coming back.
Storyline? Soooooo bad. I nodded off in the last 15/20 mins of it. My partner saw it and told me I didn't miss much. That's not great is it? Unimpressed.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Absolute must see and definitely worth the wait
I loved every minute of this. The story was on point, the action was perfect, the nods to the original were great and will most definitely get you right in the feels.
Casino Royale (2006)
Fantastic!
Having a Bond marathon before we watch the latest.
Daniel Craig is THE James Bond in my honest and humble opinion. He is not a male ideology caricature like his predecessors.
Fantastic story that keeps you gripped.
Just Friends (2005)
Ignore the bad reviews if
You like a bit of silly humour, Ryan Reynolds and a movie that allows you to detach for a bit.
This is a top go to movie for me when I need a pick me up. Completely nonsensical feel good humour.
Watching it right now with the kids who are getting their absolute kill!
Dynasty (2017)
Fallon makes the show
Elizabeth Gillies is a fab actress who portrays Fallon brilliantly. Plenty sass and humour.
Storylines are farcical, but you know what, that's what makes it great! It's a good show to just get lost in and detach. Too entertainment.
Wrong Turn (2021)
Not amazing, but not bad
Completely different take on the originals. Feels a bit disjointed, but overall it was entertaining.
Free Guy (2021)
Don't have a good day, have a great day!
Really good family movie with lots of nods to modern pop culture.
Jojo Rabbit (2019)
Much better than expected
My husband just loves anything about the World Wars. I personally find things on the wars difficult to watch and tend to avoid them. So when he suggested we watch this I rolled my eyes....
Yes there are some really upsetting bits, but my god is it funny!
It's a movie on a serious topic that is to not be taken too seriously! Having Hitler portrayed this way I think was brilliant.
Very much worth a watch 😌
Rocketman (2019)
Wasn't even an Elton fan
Prior to this movie, all I knew of Elton was a couple of his bigger hits. Didn't dislike him or his music, but also not a fan.
Put this movie on, purely for Taron Eggerton. With the exception of Robin Hood (let's pretend it never happened), he's amazing in everything! He has smashed it out the park with this movie. Brilliant from start to finish.
I found Eltons story to be really interesting and sad. Can't say I give much of an excuse for the times. Doesn't matter the era you live in, your child is your child! I honestly feel for him. Glad of his happy ending though.
Don't pay attention to the bad reviews! The movie pulls you and before you know it, it's finished! Always an indicator of a good movie for me.
Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)
Better than expected
I was put off by negative reviews and all the bad press it got initially. Glad we gave it a go. Nice easy watching, feel good family movie.
Them (2021)
I'm speechless....
The story? Well, what story? I get that it was showing what life was like for the time, and that in itself was difficult to watch. So many upsetting scenes. Overall though, the story felt unfinished. Not even in the "artsy" way of Lost In Translation (where, admitting, I still don't like that film or fully understand it's point!). I get the AHS vibe, which isn't bad, but it was a bit all over the place.
The 5* is for the performances
All of the actors are on point! Deborah (Mrs Emory) deserves an award for her performance she stole the show. Bashy (Mr Emory) was good too. Shahadi (Ruby) played her part perfectly. Melody (Gracie) I found her to be adorable and so good, especially given her age. Allison (Elizabeth) was fantastic! Everything from the way she spoke, down to the facial expressions and mannerisms made you despise her character. I've not felt that enraged by a character since Umbrage! Even Ryan Kwanten (George) left you feeling more than a bit uneasy!
Tropic Thunder (2008)
Good silly movie
This whole RDJ doing black face debacle....the very fact people don't see this as poking fun at Hollywood is funny in itself!
If you have the ability to no be so easily offended and like some light hearted humour, this is a good movie.
Chaos Walking (2021)
Far too many harsh reviews
I'm not sure we've all watched the same movie!
It's a new interesting concept for the sci-fi genre. Personally I enjoyed the story and have none of the issues the low raters seem to have with certain aspects/outcomes. It's just a movie!
If you like Sci-fi and are looking for something new to entertain you during lockdown, give it a go!
Beaches (1988)
Brilliant
If you haven't seen this, it's a must. A funny bitter/sweet tale of friendship.
The Bold Type (2017)
Modern, poignant, comedy drama...
All in all a fantastic show. Great cast and well written.
This show is about promoting equality. There is a moral/lesson to each episode, which I'm sure resonates with most watching. Older/prudish/app-less generations perhaps not, but that's not who it's aimed at. It hits on hard issues, whilst still being able to bring humour. Not an easy thing.
Totally binge worthy. I'm on season 3 in only a few days. I see that we only have up to season 4....I'm going to make it stretch until season 5. Or at least try
Dark Mirror (2007)
There's something missing...
Great cast and OK storyline. As it got more toward the end I found it to be disappointing. I didn't dislike it, it was just OK.
Worth a watch at least, just keep your expectations low.
It Follows (2014)
They should allow negative numbers.....worst movie I've seen since Broken Flowers
These rave reviews have to be bots, paid for by the people who made it! Has to be. There cannot possibly be sane people out there that enjoyed this.
Set in modern day, but, has horrible synthetic keyboard music throughout, a poor mans attempt at 80s attire, a poorly decorated house and some black and white TVs, apparently (according to the fans) to pay homage to the great slashers of the 70/80s. Erm? What a lot of nonsense! It's awful! Just awful.
Storyline?! Teenagers are followed by "IT" that takes on a form (any form) to get close. Touches you, you die. To pass it on, have sex with someone else. If they die, it comes back to you. Yup. Good.
Only thing I will say is; The acting isn't terrible.
Turned it off after 30mins.
Coming 2 America (2021)
Don't believe the bad reviews, they're clearly...
Written by some humourless, in some cases misogynistic, uptight people.
Someone dared to complain about the empowerment of women. Another about the lack of story.
Well, this is no male dominated biopic! So if that's what you're looking for, move on.
Was the story line good? Not especially. Will it win any oscars? Erm, maybe for the wardrobe, because the attire was stunning! What it most definitely is, is funny! Some brilliant flashbacks/nods to the original. All of the original cast with some good new additions.
If you like the original, are looking for an easy watching light hearted and funny movie, this is definitely worth a watch.
Paddington (2014)
10/10 please look after this bear...
As someone who has fond memories of Paddington in my youth I was dubious. I found this movie to be fantastic! I absolutely love it and I am often the one asking the kids to put it on.
Wolf Creek (2016)
10/10 love the movies and the show
John Jarrat is just brilliant! He is completely unnerving and that laugh?! He plays the unhinged Mick so well.
Story for both season 1 and 2 were well written and the cast have been fab. It has been a shame that there has been such a long pause but I'm glad to hear that they're back onto making season 3 and a 3rd movie!
The Pact (2012)
Unexpectedly good 8/10
I have given this an 8/10. There are a couple of boggle with it, but, it was suspenseful, a good story and the lead actress is really good. Overall worth a watch
The Great (2020)
10/10
Incredibly funny and entertaining! Brilliant writing and a fantastic cast. Sincerely hope there is a season 2!
