Il Commissario Ricciardi (2021)
Really good.
I almost gave up on the first episode however I am glad I stuck with it. At first it seemed too twee and saccharine, a bit clichéd. However subsequent episodes have been unexpectedly quite hard hitting and complex. Interwoven is a bittersweet love story, and Naples looks great, with Vesuvius as a dramatic backdrop. The characters are likeable too, and interesting, particularly Bruno and Garzo. I like the elements relating to Mussolini too. All in all a really good detective show. Inspector Montalbano is still my favourite, but I am really looking forward to the second series of this. I recommend this.
Cricket: Today at the Test (2020)
Not actually much cricket on show
As with most BBC shows, they are more interested in long shots of a person in the crowd and askin players in 50 different ways what there emotions were whilst on the pitch or watching it. This is interspersed with a bit of cricket plus a repeat showing of each ball, plus long shots of the batsmen talking to each other. They also have that crazy trendy thing occasionally where there is juggling camera work of fast changing bits and pieces of a game that you can't quite see which makes your eyes spin. I know they are trying to appeal to the younger generation with everything they do, and compete with other trendier channels, but would be great if we could see more actual cricket.
