I liked it, nothing but spoilers.
30 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
While a slightly confusing movie, I believe I took it differently than most. Dunst's character helps her mother commit suicide and falls into a deep depression. She begins to take the same heavy drug (a synthetic cannabis) that she gave to her mother to help ease the pain. She mistakes a situation with another man to believe that he wants her help also but inadvertently gives the deadly drug to the wrong person. All the while she is taking the heavy cannabis which is screwing up her head and helps her forget that she helped her mother commit suicide. She confesses to the man she thought wanted her help, that she killed the wrong person, and he just dies. Then she returns to the (ex-boyfriend?) who runs the weed shop and confronts him about them killing her mother. He didn't know it was an assisted suicide and threatens to call her husband/boyfriend. She kills him and the synth weed takes over her life putting her in a surrealist state. Even If I got the whole thing wrong, very cool movie :D.

Entertaining Short, worth the 40 minutes of your life!
20 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The film appears to be a school project but the fake Southern accents are not insulting, just not continuous throughout the show. The acting is amateur but rather good, as in not bad but not polished? I've never written a review for a project movie before but I rather enjoyed and and the almost predictable way it set up a sequel but I didn't predict it so...... The story line does not pull any punches, not even in the way big budget films do not pull any punches. For instance, one spoiler, the guy she kills isn't evil or deserving to die in any way. He's just a minor High School jerk, but she eats. Highly enjoyable for 40 minutes of your time! Lastly, and so important to me, it's actually Science Fiction, a rarity in Science Fiction these days.

Prophetic! Coming true right now :)
2 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Saturn 3 is prophetic in 2023. I saw it when it originally came out, Farrah Fawcett was in it! With what's going on with AI currently, Hector is literally now accurate and no longer a fantasy. AI collects data and categorizes it but more importantly it records and categorizes mainly software engineers and programmers. When it was first being implemented by Big Tech it would appear to get mad and frustrated but it was only mimicing programmers. It wasn't getting mad, it was just copying. That's Hector! When Hector mimics Benson it really is identical to the current copyrighted AI system which I will not name. The major differences are that Benson must link his brain to Hector but in reality he doesn't need to. Needless to say I give this film a 9 for coming true :)

More from the Novella that a thing was based on then the Thing
26 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Super deep is not another version of the Thing. The Thing was based on a novella "Who Goes There?" and a previous movie of a similar title and story. They are roughly based on HP Lovecrafts Cosmic Horrors and the Color out of space and interviews and papers on Lovecraft. Cthulhu and the other 'Old Gods' had a million babies (or according to Lovecraft, Just Cthulhu had the million babies with her uncle brother) and shot them into space to find a way to Earth. In a Color out of Space, 1 find it's way here.

In the Thing, another one finds it's way here.

In the Thing, the bodies inside of the Thing are not the originals but clones. In Superdeep they are the actually people. More similar to the Novella then The thing, the monster here is botanical in nature. It spreads though either consuming the victim or by spores. So Superdeep is Cosmic Horror, but they are also literally in a hell. The monster may be from Earth, may be new or may be old. If you like sci-fi horror, it's worth it, if you don't then you will not like it.

An excellent SciFi thiller for SciFi lovers
11 November 2023
Trying for no spoilers here. This film is zero like the Stepford Wives. While it ventures into other areas and it does get a tad bit slow towards the middle, overall it is a solid nine. Questioning what makes a human a human, and what would the people you love do if you passed away, It provides an unexpected ending that you just don't see coming. If you see similarities between this and the Stepford Wives then you didn't watch until the ending, or that is to say who is the Stepford husband here? If you like Science Fiction this is either an original or a very well masked copy of a thousand other SciFi movies that is so well masked you can't see it.

Starts strong, last almost to the end
9 November 2023
I almost avoid this one because someone wrote that it had gratuitous nudity, it doesn't. There are two breast shots and one long butt shot but not gratuitous. This is a parody of a multitude of different horror movies and it start really strong and stays that way until the hour mark. They lost their way after that, it has some actually funny parts throughout and deserves a 6 rating at least. I think most of the negative reviews are from the lack of nudity, it's not a skin flix though. The pizza guy should have came in earlier I think and just having 3 zombies for the horde of zombies was a little underwhelming. Still though, it has more than a few funny parts though the first 3/4's.

Just really good Science Fiction
14 July 2023
After watching this movie three times I realized I hadn't rated it yet.

A wonderful slug to the gut of everybody that wants politics and social issues in every sci-fi movie. It's not a lefty and it's not a righty and it's not a centrist it's just a wild punch at those that want to shove their agenda into every bit of entertainment. I will not give out any spoilers but I will say that after reading the negative reviews that they rated S. U. M.1's lack of politics and not the actually movie. It is a slow moving sci-fi work and it is not an sci-fi action flick. It's just science fiction at it's core.

Give it a chance if you like SciFi. The end just brings a smile to my face as a final slug at those who ruin Science Fiction with secondary agendas.

Not nearly as bad as all of that, but a B Movie in the end.
24 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is a semi student retelling of an Old Astounding Tales or weird tales story from the 1930's. I looked through all of my downloads from Librivox, but I couldn't remember/find the title. It's not as bad as other are making it out to be, therefore the B for this one is majorly budgeted but still a B Movie. The original story from the 1930's takes place in New York. I only viewed one real t&a shot throughout, although at the end there is another (kind of) of one or two lizard women. The makeup is horrible but make it kind of fun. They do a horrible job of trying to spin it at the end as a environmental/climate change movie; this is in the interview with the writer/producer. Overall if you like creature features, watch it for fun. It is short and it is real sci-fi. I normally give movies with any political ties lower ratings. This one's climate change message for the last 2 minutes just make it funnier.

The Thing (1982)

Still one of the best, if not the best
3 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It's hard to believe that The Thing lost out to E. T. I was twelve when it came out and hated E. T. or at least I can remember seeing it, although I've been told I had. On the other hand I managed to see The Thing. True Sci-Fi with a mild lovecraftian cosmic horror theme. Not a spoiler for most but in Lovecraft's universe the old god's, or fallen host of heaven, are trying to recapture Earth. The world they've been cast to is dismal and generally without resources. They cannot just travel to earth, but tried and sent I think millions of they're offsprings but only one made it. Anyway they try to posses human's to bring them across or through dimensional travel. Just a splendid, better than Lovecraft kind of story that is almost never matched today. And much better than E. T. :)

Gets good at thirty minutes
10 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I almost didn't watch beyond the 30 minute mark. I'm glad I didn't. This is not a mockumentary or documentary. It's intertwining stories, about a quarter of which are comedy and half are horror and the rest are a mixture. There is a commentary aspect to it about the current social situation in the United States and the world. (Equal rights for frogs to come out of the closet.) The religious sermons that play for about two minutes total make sense and are not out of place. That being said it had only a slightly higher budget than a church movie (which normal has none, they provide lunch.) It is low budget but totally entertaining. If it weren't for the one guy constantly taking Gd's name in vain, I would think that it was an Adult church movie (about 30 seconds of T&A).

The Lost Day (2016 Video)

It is a solid 6.5 :)
22 January 2023
I'm trying to not give any spoilers here. This movie is worth the watch, and it is a solid 6.5. It is a Low Budget B not a Bad Movie B and that does make all of the difference. I will say that they didn't think Baldwins character to the finish and they did not think out the time shift that they use in the film, but this is a time paradox soul jumping film. It needs about another ten or maybe twenty minutes maybe to really finish it. I think it would keep you interested on a treadmill so I'm kind of mad I didn't save it. I don't think it would be worth watching it again within a year. If you like body jumping and missing time, if you like no monster scifi (I like monster scifi also 😊) then you should like this. The cinematic world would not end if it disappeared though.

B as in budgeted not bad
13 January 2023
This is a traditional B Action flick. Reviewing it as such, it is good. It would have been great at the drive in, and it is great for a treadmill run, or two. I watched it from the beginning to the end, no skipping. I think that those that give it less than five stars are looking for drama, not action. This is classic action so if you are looking for an action flick this is worth your time. You must remember that b is either for budget or bad and this one is budget. There are a few good twist in it that I didn't expect and as this is Bruce Willis last film, that makes it something to see but the film is good if you like action. The ending (last 2 minutes) dumb.

Not a David Lynch wannabe, all bad reviewers lie! :)
15 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Not a David Lynch clone. This is a scifi mystery. I admit it get's slow occasionally but not overtly. Sadly I think that most of the people that give it a negative rating just noticed that it has full front female nudity in the tags. The first time you do get the flash of one breast but the second and third time it's from a far distance. You know she's nude but that's about it.

Real spoilers for those who are confused. The female lead is somehow sending messages back to herself in the past. Her father is apparently a doctor or a scientist and caused a number of deaths, including her mothers and the loss of her right arm. Also the dog does talk through a device.

The father is killed by an intruder who latter turns out to be himself.

Two new characters are introduced, a young woman and boy, the boy is mute. They are plotting with the fifth character to kill the father because the father caused the fifth characters parents death. I'm not going into the rest of it. I don't do spoilers :) but in this case either people do not like scifi drama, or they were looking for t&a or they just didn't get it.

It's not really a slow burn, there's action or movement towards the climax throughout. It is still only a Honest 8 star.

Top notch, above the rest
15 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is definitely a Neo-Noir film, but it is not a Tarantino clone of any sort. The only thing I could see coming was Dakota Johnson's demise, because she you don't see it coming as soon as it is possible you know it's about to happen. I will admit though that I expected other characters to die but they didn't. Otherwise, the film did not play off of any other previous film. It did not use nudity to sell it. There are the two scenes mentioned but if you blink you miss them. The violence level was somehow low for a Neo-Noir, but it still managed to be that. It is strange but it had an Agatha Christi 'Then there were none' fell to it at the end. I wanted to see this film when it came out, the reviews were so bad. They were all bs.

Actual Science Fiction!
29 August 2022
This is actually SciFi. I normally do not like enclosed area films (like a film set on the ISS) but this film is good, and it is actually SciFi. With this kind of film, I was surprised that I began to relate to any of the characters, but I did. If you are looking to reenforce your political belief system, there is no alien wearing a blonde wig or eating an ice cream cone and falling off its bike so avoid this (read the bad reviews.) If you are looking for actually science fiction, then watch this. Some say that the ending is left open but if you think about it, it's very clear what happens next.

One scene prevented it from being a 10
29 July 2022
An excellent SciFi movie. The negative reviews had to be looking for some lame non scifi crap disguising itself as scifi. This is SciFi though and it is real SciFi. I don't know if it's just the amazon copy but the continuity between Cooper saying where his father was and then his father appears a scene or two latter just seemed out of place. That's really the only negative part. Too bad they never made the trilogy though.

It's actually a Mystery, really
19 July 2022
Without any spoilers, I realize it steals an idea or two from other mysteries. It is still rare, as it is actually a mystery. I'm working early this morning, decide to put something on the other computer. I like William Hurt and Julliette Lewis. I got nothing done. I'm just watching it because it's actually a mystery and no it's not so predictable. Could have been a little bit more of a thriller and left a few more clues about though.

Closer to mad max then resident evil
19 July 2022
I didn't watch this when it first came out, I was busy and just missed it. When tubi had the whole franchise streaming I binge watched all of them. I had watched a review that this was the second best movie in the re franchise and it returned to the game. After watching it I worried that I wasn't really a sci-fi fan. It's really far away from anything re related and is just generally a big fat social statement. The cgi is actually bad in a few places and much closer to Max Max then anything that could be considered Resident Evil.

It's medium low budget but good
17 July 2022
If you don't like action without a political motivation, then you will not like this. It is lower budget but not low budget. If you are looking for something to back whatever your current 'passion' is, not this. If you are looking for something to keep you interested, will you're on the treadmill or rowing machine, this will do the job.

A rather proselytizing movie
5 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I believe the director/writer was young and just had to share his newfound belief in reincarnation. Although he loses track of where he's at a few times and seems to lose track about who is being reincarnated.

For part of the movie Basai is reincarnated of her look alike, then she's actually the reincarnation of her look alikes husband. The only way for her to be saved is to be killed, by her look alikes husband because she is actually a reincarnation of his friend who tries to kill him and her.

The director/writer just got into reincarnation and tried to make it interesting.

There was not a great amount of nudity at the beginning. I can say that although she was butt naked, I couldn't see anything. At the end she's but naked and blurred out. I gave it five stars because it appears that some of the reviewers didn't actually watch it beyond the first few minutes. I might watch it again.

Ghost/Scifi and no other agendas!
17 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know if you will think of these as spoilers or not. This is a Ghost story. The rules do not changed, the rules are lies! For people who want to brag that they watched some jump scare movie, this isn't for you. It is NOT slow. I have never seen the two lead actors/ess in anything so I guess I'm not jaded. It is a ghost story and it has almost no filler. I guess a spot or two felt over cut, but isn't it that way with all movies you really like, wish they were a little bit longer? Really no agenda ghost story.

Excellent
20 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Maybe it's just not having seen a really good thriller mystery in a while, but this is excellent! I don't know why it's listed as horror though. Two small nudity scenes but they are part of the overall scene and not just for T&A. It starts to have a surrealist ending but then just straightens itself out in a way that normally disappoints me. It works here. Really no spoiler except for the mystery fan. Keep an ear open for names.

Edit: there's no undertone political messages in the movie!

Fun ghost story

The only issue with Lost Voyage is that it is underdeveloped. It's a fun ghost(s) story that does have its scary moments. All but Judd Nelson seem to be really into their characters, Nelson seems to just be there.

Classic scifi
13 February 2022
This is classic sci-fi like those you find in Astounding Tales. It's so similar to those I've been listening to through librivox. That if I saw it back in the day I would just think it was a rip off of one of them but today. It's just fun to watch. They most assuredly do not go against the sensibilities of the time will still weaving a sci fi delight.

A drama disguised as a mystery
14 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If you miss an episode, you probably will miss the ending. There is only one spiritual or supernatural thing in the series, and that is the mini crown being turned into a rock. The cop's wife tries to frame the teenage dude's father, but the sister of the victim (played by the same actress) figures out that the cop did it. After losing her mind she dresses as her sister and points to the cop and his family accusing him of the murder. The loss of three stars was for the quick ending, I added one back because of all of the negative reviews.

In 2013 (around 2010 to 2015) everybody was mad at amazon, netflixs and the other channels for not finishing stories. Maybe that had something to do with it. Would have been much better if it had two seasons.
