Fearless Tiger (1991)
It must have been intentional
This film is so bad, that I'm sure it must have been planned that way all along. The plot is no worse than a typical martial arts action film, but the writing is hack. No performer, writer or director could have read this script without seeing the quality dearth. So like others who have posted, I enjoy this film for what it so clearly is--a tireless parody of trite action movies, a biting satire of the martial arts genre.
The fight scenes are reasonably well choreographed, though not flashy. Most of the fighters in the film appear to have martial arts training, and the director does not resort to cheap tricks--like changing speeds or cropping shots--to make things strikes appear impressive.
Mad Max (1979)
True motorcycle rebels
Visuals, setting and camera-work are superb. Film artistry. It's a dirty, gritty landscape, and lawlessness abounds. Gibson's character is the archetypal rouge hero. The bad guys are the baddest in film, and don't seem to need an excuse to kill and destroy. Society seems ill equipped to deal with it them.
Acting, writing, story acceptable. Not memorable--to the good or bad. My favorite's feature of the film is the motorcycles--they bad guys ride Kawasaki KZs--the greatest bike of it's time. This makes complete sense, of course. No post-apocalyptic road warrior would be caught dead on a puffy Harley Davidson.
I am surprised that there were not more films in this genre--especially in the midst of the cold war.
