Mr. Church (2016)
Favorites Film of Mine
Mr. Murphy is listed as a comedian. He's the Top, Best, Greatest of comedians. But the film "Mr. Church" is not a comedy at all. The character Mr. Church does not do any comedy acting at all. Yet this was one of Mr. Murphy's best shows ever. All the actors and actresses were wonderful, the script was wonderful, the scenery was wonderful. I get lost in the film everytime I view it - love this film!
Here Comes the Boom (2012)
Surprising Win
School is needed, music programs in school are needed, gymnastic programs are needed, teachers that inspire are needed. And comedy is needed. And, so, this film is needed. This film was so fantastic, well written, well acted, great scenery, great finality, wonderful friendship and even better family. Here Comes The Boom -- this film makes audiences stand and applaud! I've got to watch it again... and again...
Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story (2009)
Wonderful to the point of Motivation
This movie "GIfted Hands" caused an urge in me to become a doctor of medicine. It was that good. I never desired to enter the medical field because I'm too squeemish and am not intelligent at the needed subject of science, but after seeing this film, it just moved me to wish I could be a doctor like Dr. Carter. Loved all the actors and actresses. Mr. Gooding resembles Dr. Carter somewhat.
Bruised (2020)
Amazing film and Great directorial work
This actress is not only one of the prettiest women in the world but she is also smart, talented with ability to direct her own movie. I loved this movie, watched the whole thing with my heart pumping and crying and squeemish too over the blood and fighting. I can only enjoy a movie if I can feel like its really happening, the actors become reality, and of course that includes the scenery, the dressing, and the directing. She did a Great Job at making a believable film about boxing. My husband got me interested in boxing but I don't think that is necessary towards enjoying a boxing movie. As an aside, I also read in some magazine many years ago that Hallie Berry was a secret charity worker at some chldren's poverty center where she secretly devoted time helping with the set up of the center and helping these children. Hated hearing that that actor broke her arm in a movie years ago and got away with it with hardly an apology and he went on to be successful. So I'm glad Hallie Berry is also successful and working so well in film. Hope her children grow up with good rewards from all her good works.
Death at a Funeral (2010)
HILARIOUS! Richard Pryor would be laughing too
Watched this movie again a third time and it was still hilarious. Well done! Cheered up my day made me laugh and smile despite a bad day at work. Thought Richard Pryor was the comedian who could be seen a hundred times and still make a person laugh as if it was the first. But these comedians have also reached the Richard Pryor level.
Hillbilly Elegy (2020)
This Film Changed Me
This film is striking and reverent - it left me with good thoughts of the world as a whole -- that everyone has a similar connection. I've always heard that people are all the same, but I never believed it true. Now I can see how. I thought my own childhood was singularly miserable but now I see that most everyone has traumatic troubles growing up. Somehow we all manage to grow up anyway, and bless the adult that stepped in to help us do it right. By the way Glenn Close was the outstanding one to me in this film - yet all actors/actresses did remarkable work because I got lost in the film and felt I was really there. That shows its a Great Movie.
The Karate Kid (2010)
just about perfect movie
Loved this "Karate Kid" movie - watched it again and again over ten times. Everything was right in this movie - the acting, the music, the scenery, the script, the supporting actors... I get lost in this film and really believe its reality. And, the wonder of it is there's a happy ending!
All movies starring Jackie Chan and Taraji P Hensen have been great and this movie reveals that the same will be true for Jaden Smith.
The Color of Love: Jacey's Story (2000)
Brilliant Film
Loved this movie. The writing and southern houses and greenery and scenery and clothing were great but these two actors are what made the movie so brilliant. Louis Gossett Jr. And Gina Rowlands are so great at making movies that anything they starr in becomes a winner. To see them both side by side caused my heart to bubble up with joy! Their fine acting caused my own life drudgeries to be forgotten by myself getting engrossed in this movie.
Stanley & Iris (1990)
One of my favorite movies, Stanley & Iris
Stanley & Iris is a wonderful movie, the best, even had Loretta Devine before she got famous, and DeNiro is so handsome and Fonda is very pretty. Their acting is so convincing. I get lost in the film everytime I view it (10 times at least). Love this movie much.
The Magnificent Seven (2016)
Great movie and portrayal of western classic
The 2016 Magnificent Seven is a great film. And, it has great direction of an old classic into a new different kind of movie. Actually didn't like the old 1960 Magnificent Seven too much, but I loved this movie and especially loved all 7 hero characters, wonderful handsome actors, every last one of them. Honestly can't say which gentleman was my favorite because I fell in love with all 7 heros. The actress was great too at portraying the damsel in distress. Even the actor portraying the bad guy was great. Great entertainment and great fun watching it.
Concussion (2015)
super movie with brilliant actors doing expert acting work and great direction
Saw this "Concussion" movie three times and I want to view it again. That desire to view again means it's A Great Movie! I've seen Will Smith, David Morse, Alec Baldwin, Albert Brooks, Richard Jones in other good movies, but in my opinion, this "Concussion" movie is their best acting job out of them all. Also, of course, the director, Mr. Landesman, I must say, did a great job. The female actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw reminds me of the professional good actresses Jada Pinkett and Halle Berry, women that are strikingly beautiful yet concentrated wonderful actors. It was a real life fact-based movie, but the reason it is loved is because it was so well done. Some movies are mediocre and don't hold attention or some allow for distractions that cut it short. But not this one. This is one of the greats, a movie that must be watched to the end, and then applauded. Other reviewers write about how the NFL will be affected or will cause a bad effect on the movie just as it caused a bad effect on Dr. Bennet Omalu's life. But my writing here has no political or commercial bias. I actually prefer football out of all popular American sports. Football is a fantastic game to see, the same as "Concussion" is a fantastic movie to watch.
