Fear of Clowns (2004)
Killer Clown stalks the innocent, beautiful coulrophobic artist
Great Low budget flick that gave me the shivers! I'm not sure how much money they put into it, but the result is great.. The plot made me wonder who was going to be the killer. Mark Lassise as the killer clown really freaked me out! Jacky Reres did an especially great performance in the lead as Lynn. She was completely believable, and came out beautifully! I can't believe it was her first film (as far as I know from the IMDb)! As far as technical details go, it looked like it was done on video, but I don't think it distracts from the overall film. Camera movement, angles editing were excellent. I would have to comment a bit on sound, I can't pinpoint it, but there was something about the sound that was distracting at times, but nothing serious. Lynn's make up looked a little harsh in a few outdoor scenes (but hell, what woman hasn't put on too much makeup at some point her life). Rick Ganz as Tuck Flynn was a little unbelievable at points, but it seems it was his first or second film. The same with Frank Lama as Detective Peters.
Overall, I gave this film an 8 because I like this genre of low-budget action thrillers. The remaining 2 would be for technical details and a bit of acting of from Frank and Rick. GOOD JOB GUYS! I'll recommend it to my friends!
Brigham City (2001)
A great story about Murder in Mormonville USA
I thought it was a great murder story that really involves the audience. It was also a great insight into Utah Mormon culture. It wasn't a propaganda type movie saying that the Mormon way of life is the best, nor was it showing too many of its faults.
The best thing I liked about it was that it was very well written. It involved the audience and really captivated your attention. In addition to the drama and suspense, it also went deeper to examine a few aspects of Mormon culture and humanity in general. That makes it a great movie!!!
My wife and I saw it at an 11:00 showing and we were freaked out when we left the theater. We were wondering if there were serial killers in our little town!!!
